i noticed how foggy the glass looked as well i wondered if it was fingerprinting dust? not sure what that looks like is that a possibility?
Very possible but I doubt it, they wouldn’t dust the whole door. To me, it looks like tempered glass cracks. I’ve zoomed in and still hard to tell.

Every set of experiences is different. Our guns, including handguns, were not locked up when we grew up. Our parents had a loaded handgun readily available. Dad was a very light sleeper and combat veteran. The discussion came up on more than one occasion of what we should do if someone tried to break-in and we were home alone - forego the handgun and grab one of the shotguns. And don't concern yourself as to where the buckshot was as birdshot from a shotgun inside 5 yards would be very effective.

To this day, I have ready access to a loaded gun when at home and my first action is to pick it up if I here something.
Same here in my house...shoot first ask questions later if ur trying to get into my crib!

I don't believe its cracked. I have seen another photo and it looks completely intact. They are actually putting it in a vehicle for transport and I believe you can see the glare off the surface. With 27 threads here, the pictures of the doors were gone over with a fine toothed comb. The wooden door is the one that we do not have clear photos of and the one that I have the most questions about. But hey, a fresh set of eyes and some new thoughts are always good at this point!

I’m more curious about the actual front door tbh. If it’s riddled with holes, right there tells u pistol or shotgun.

Thinking on why the father would be in near the door and unarmed. They had a small dog. One of the best watch dogs one can have is a chihuahua. However, they bark at everything outside the house - people, possums, raccoons or cats. Ours only barked when something or someone came into the yard and he would wake you up. With an isolated location maybe the Closs's dog did not have occasion to bark. If the dog woke the father after midnight maybe he went to look out the windows to see what the dog was barking at. Thinking it could be a raccoon, cat, coyote or another dog. He may have been near the door out of curiosity from the dog's barking. And he was there, unarmed when the door was kicked in.

Tbh, the best way to look at a case like this is start at the beginning with what you know, in this case very little. That’s why I asked about the door first. There are ways to get a shoe imprint if the door was kicked in. Question to all of y’all...if u heard something at 1am at ur door...what would u do? This is a collective effort so please chime in
if i heard commotion at my front door at 1 am i would wake up my husband and have my phone in my hand as he answered the door and i would probably go with him....if i was home alone i would grab my phone and try to look out a window without being seen...if it was someone i didnt know i would call the police before i answered...i live near a facility wheree there are alot of walkoffs so i have had people come to my door...i definately dont open it or go near the door

Exactly! I don’t have a yappy dog but the night someone jumped my fence and was trying to get in my back door, ole pup was there going crazy. Edge of my bed with shotgun locked and loaded, still half asleep.

Remember the thing about the neighbors saying they would come up and knock on the door and no one would answer? I wonder if they saw Jayme get off the bus and then went knocking on the door? I would understand her not opening the door for them if she was alone.

I don’t answer my door even in day light if I don’t know your coming to my house! You don’t show up at my house unannounced ever! She wouldn’t open the door if she didn’t know they were coming, my daughter is the same at 17, but then again that’s just me.

Me either!

Did they talk to both the man and woman? Who made which statement about not knowing they had kids and then saying they saw her getting off the bus?

This is totally hypothetical as I said previously...1am, a commotion at ur door, what would YOU do? We are real people here, few have answered this. We all live in different places so I would like different perspectives. This could give an idea of what dad thought when he went to the door. This is step one, bear with me here...

These are my opinions;
Someone who drives down Rt. 8 every morning and saw Jayme waiting for the bus. Because of her activities I don't think she took the bus home every day so it was most likely morning.
Someone very local, who either still has her or has buried her on private property (their own). LE can't go on private property without a warrant and they can't get one yet. No one has found her yet when hunting.
Someone the police are aware of due to past violence or sexual offenses.
I think the perps are young, violent drunks who were bored and looking for a thrill.
I think there was someone waiting in the car to drive away.
I think other people know this happened and how but now are implicated by their continued silence and are afraid to go to the police.

One thing I've noticed going back and looking at different pictures of the house is that the blinds are somewhat open. Open enough to the extent that anyone outside would have been able to clearly see just about everything going on inside...

Is it possible the perp/perps were able to see inside the house before he/they launched their assulton the Closs family?

Is it possible the perp/perps were able to exercise caution and fire dummy shots to rouse the family before their assult?

I would follow my husband to the door, with phone in hand. He would not open the door, but talk through the closed, locked door. If the knocking/banging was loud, it would probably wake up our kids and they would be coming out of their rooms as well. I’d probably turn my back to the door and tell the kids to go back to bed. Maybe even move towards them and towards the hall to their bedrooms.

If they rang the doorbell, we have a camera on it with an app that rings to our phone. Then, we would stay in the bedroom and talk to the person via our phone/app.

I’ve seen this as well but think it’s more the Sherriffs dept. I’ve seen more open and more closed pics of the blinds.

I'd try to peek out a window unseen...if that wasn't possible I'd either ignore it and sit there with my phone ready to dial 911, or have my husband answer through the door without opening it. Under no circumstances would we answer the door at midnight...UNLESS someone was yelling that our house was on fire? then maybe?

I have to directly disagree. Why would LE only open them about a foot? Better to leave them closed so no one can see inside right? And I'm specifically talking about the windows to the left of the door when looking at the house from the front. If you google search Closs family home and look at the images those blinds have remained the same as far as I can see...
