To be honest, I think if you go back, I do not believe the Sheriff ever said that they were using the neighbors timeline. We all know that the neighbors said it and that is where I think it may be confusing. Because the neighbors said it, the media ran with it and so did we but I cannot ever remembering the sheriff basing anything on the neighbors accounts. I'm sure he believes them, I'm just not so sure he has faith that they are correct on time.

Is that what they said that they couldn't be sure of the time and not saying they couldn't confirm gunshots? I didn't see the LE's exact verbiage. The only thing I remember LE commenting on was that her clock was off 10 minutes. But, regardless, they knew this story/report whatever, was very public from the very first day and if it wasn't factual, they should have said so then. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but it reduces what we know down to nothing except the obvious murders and disappearance of Jaymie. I hope they have tons of clues that are not being released publicly.
When was the FBI called in? Wasn't it the morning of the crime?

just a little research on challengers, the tail light from 08-14 are interchangeable and I cant see any differences to side tail lights. 08-09 some have different center section than 10-14. seems the 08-14 is the year range that they were seeking info on but not so much now. maybe they have all the info they needed, I just looked to see differences in years because they might also have had just info overload on the cars.
I also read up on that and found that it is most common for the older models to be customized. Eg. Scoop changed or added to hood, hood ornaments changed, tail lights and front lights too. I remember thinking custom parts and accessories would be easy to trace.

I’ve tried to stay on top of reading all the threads since the beginning but I am really bothered by the location of James truck.

I know it has come up but why was it not parked near the carport/garage with Denise’s car?

Perhaps someone was at their house when he came back and he knew they would want to pull out so he didn’t park behind them and he didn’t park behind Denise because she would be leaving before him in the morning.

There are just so many unanswered questions.

The subject on the location of James’ red truck has been brought up several times. Very early on, it was thought by many of us that James’ truck was moved by LE so they could easily get their huge white trailer/ truck there and be able to take items out of the house to put into the trailer/truck.

I am really starting to wonder why NONE of Jayme’s friends have come forward and talked about any of this, or even really much about Jayme!! It’s been almost TWO months and still all of her friends are so hush, hush. This is just SO ODD for a missing 13 year old. Usually their friends are talking to everyone... they are chatter boxes!!! Yet here, we have crickets..........
If I were 13, and my friend’s parents were murdered in their own home, and my friend disappeared into thin air, I’d keep my mouth shut out of sheer terror.

Some very good alternate ideas. I've been curious why Jame's family is so quiet... Denise's family is also very quiet considering the circumstances.... if it was my sister or brother and niece I would be much more vocal and trying to bring that girl home..something just odd with all of this
I’m guessing the sheriff asked them all to keep quiet, and since he’s controlling the investigation, they don’t want to piss him off. In a small town, there’d be intense pressure to comply.

It’s his- I mean, they are dusting it for prints in the one picture I posted! It’s a fair assumption.

ETA: sorry for sounding so confident ... I’m just assuming the white car up by the garage and this red truck is Denise and James’s vehicles based on them never moving like the evidence van.
The red truck was James truck. After everyone was gone, crime scene released, it was still parked in the same spot. Both vehicles are gone now.
I also commented early on that I thought the truck was parked very haphazardly. It appeared to me someone was in a rush to park and exit it. I also do not think anything at a crime scene would be moved before the scene was released...especially for another vehicle to drive into the crime area marked off by yellow tape. jmo

I also am no wondering how many doors were used in this crime ? Could someone have been coming up to the front while someone else was over on the side deck to bombard the family??! I see pictures of both sets of doors being taken away... makes me believe both were used!
I've only seen pictures if the front doors being removed. That is interesting. Do you have that link? Or picture?

I am with you on all of this but the custom parts easy to trace. ebay, sure the parts could be traced if they knew who they were looking at but without knowing who then how to know who ordered parts. craigslist, maybe not traceable at all. lots of places for aftermarket parts.

Is it possible that James had rushed home for some reason? Could Denise or Jayme have called him saying something was wrong and he needed to come home? Could he have overheard something that made him rush home?

Yes you're right. I was thinking about small town shops, clubs, etc. Forgot about eBay and Craig's list.

I hadn't thought of that, but yes it is a possibility. My original thoughts were that James got into an altercation and was trying to get into the house and away from someone. So many possibilities.

Thinking of Jayme too.

Looking from the road the neighbors are to the left of the Closs home.
I looked it up on google maps awhile back, and there was a cluster of thick trees between the Closs house and their neighbour. So I can see how there wouldn't be an easy 'hi' over the fence type thing.

This is just an ad so it very well could be staged.
This first guy kicks in the so effortlessly!
I hope it isn't really that easy!

With the discussion about the neighbors, I dont get the same vibe about these people that some here do, so I just rewatched their DM interview.

Video: Jayme Closs neighbors heard two gunshots before a 911 call was made | Daily Mail Online

I could be being a really bad judge of character right now, but I believe them that they heard gunshots. I kind of feel that maybe the "loud" description doesnt fit with casings LE found, or the weapon used to kill James and Denise, and the time those shots were heard somehow doesnt fit with the timeline LE have narrowed down for the crime, but I do believe they still could have happened.

From what I have seen (and I could be wrong here) Sheriff has never said the shots didnt happened. He has moreless just said the neighbors account dont fit within the actual facts of the crime scene, and theres no proof - except earwitness - that they happened.

So first I wonder if this is another peculiar part of the story the Sheriff is keeping to himself for some reason. And second, Im wondering, instead of James taking the dog out, is it possible he went out to see what those shots were about? This was discussed early on that someone fired shots to see if any lights came on, anyone came outside, etc.

I just have a hard time throwing out those gunshots heard. These people have never seemed suspicious to me (or elderly! Lol), just unknowing and unsuspecting. If they didnt hear something, I dont see them creating a sensationalized story just because. They just dont seem like "5 minutes of fame" kind of people. I also dont believe they meant to sell themselves out to a tabloid either, if they even got paid. I believe they were approached and simply did the interview. Same as the Sheriff did a few weeks later. I also dont get the feeling at all that they are badmouthing the Closs's. Just stating what they saw and knew about them, which is nothing. They clearly werent close friends, but not seemingly enemies either. Seems both parties just kept to themselves. Jmho.

So that said, and since I feel I have kind of been reading between the lines of the Sheriff statements anyway, is it possible when Sheriff discusses the "crime" and "crime scene", that he is only referring to the actual crime (deaths and kidnapping), and not anything that could have led up to it (ie, the 2 gunshots). Is it possible he knows or suspects that someone was there, but only inside for 4 minutes (im assuming this info comes from something heard on the 911 call)? It would make sense to me if James had been outside and ran back in to lock up the door but someone was just behind him kicking that door in. It would also make sense to me that if there was something going on outside that Jayme and Denise would both be moving around the house at that time. If the neighbors heard gunshots before this all happened, Im sure the Closs's all heard it too. I could be way off here, but it makes sense in my mind. For now.

Here’s a couple of screen grabs of the truck in a location that seems not the most intuitive place a person would park.

I’d love to hear the possibilities.

And any input on the green trash can, is it garbage or yard debris or belong to LE for disposing of gloves and any and all other protective wear? Maybe he moved it in his truck earlier in the day or LE brought it?
I can think of multiple reasons to park there instead of next to Denise by the garage. If he intended to get yard equipment or anything else out of the garage that day or the next, he might park away from it, or if he intended to have something delivered that they would move into or through the garage. We often park well clear of the garage when we know we will be getting the tractor out or something delivered.

Agree! Usually in tragic situations coworkers will speak about the victims, state that they had worked with them for several years, ten years, fifteen years, etc. We hear quotes like “He/she was a hard worker, on the company softball team, had an office next to me” or something similar.

They both worked at that plant for many years, many other employees must have known them, or at least associated with them.

Yet silence.
There’s not silence. Gardener posted a list (possibly in last thread) of many of the statements folks, including co-workers, have made about the family.
