Sorry I thought you were looking for pictures of the evidence before it moved in front of James’s truck! Basically I was just trying to show that his truck was parked the way from the get go. I take it you were looking for other pictures ?
Yes and I agree about the truck. Someone posted that there were two doors removed. Not just the front glass storm door and hard core door, but another door. I had only seen the front doors so I asked if there were pics of them being removed.

Yes there is one of the sliding door somewhere I believe... I’ll try and go back and see if I can find it.

Thank you. That is definitely not the glass front door. So were there two patio doors? Didn't the guy who went in later go thru a patio door that was unlocked?

The shoes question has not been answered nor has a coat/jacket question been answered. We have no idea what Jayme was wearing, except speculation.

The number has been posted several times. What that number represents and how it was calculated has not been verified. 6400 cars driving by the Closs home every day is a misinterpretation of the data.

Here is the interactive map

Roadrunner.Web

The info provided is from the AADT (Annual Average Daily Traffic) data for that location.

The Wisconsin DOT does not provide the same level as my state does so we can't get the hourly breakdown. I looked up the street that passes by my house and it had an AADT of 8180. The measurement area is 1.3 miles. You can see in the hourly breakdown that around 1am less than a car per minute passes by. I'm in the middle of a 100000+ city, so I imagine the traffic passing by the Closs household would be way less when accounting for the 25%/2000 less cars per day as well as the location.

It's possible that no one drove by while the crime was happening.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told WEAU-TV that there have been no new breaks in the case, but he said the Wednesday event lifted his spirits. The gathering included songs, the release of lighted lanterns, and a message from Barron native and “The Voice” finalist Chris Kroeze.

“I haven’t smiled in a long time, so this is awesome,” Fitzgerald said.

The event was coordinated by the school and by Hormel Foods and Jennie-O Turkey Store, which employed the Closs parents.

I don't know if that was my post or someone else's, but here is the list I have. I'm quite certain it needs to be updated as I've not been able to keep up here as much as I'd like.

OCT 16
One of Jayme Closs' family members (video says “Great Uncle”) lives in Manitowoc. They want people to keep talking about Jayme. They’re keeping their hopes up that she will be found alive and safe.

The husband of one of Closs' cousins says he wants to spread the word that Closs disappearing is a serious issue. He says if anyone has any information on her location, they should report it to police.

The husband also says the positive messages on social media are encouraging. They are helping the family remain hopeful during a tough time as the search continues.
Jayme Closs family members want her home safe

OCT 16
Some of Closs’ family was at a press conference on Tuesday. Jayme’s aunt said, “Jayme is the sweetest little girl, she wouldn’t hurt a soul.” (“Tuesday” refers to Oct 16 press conference)

Superintendent of the Barron School District DT echoed that sentiment saying Jayme is a loyal friend who loves to dance. Jayme is also a runner on the Riverview Middle School cross country team.

Jayme’s friend A said she knows the entire Closs family well. Her parents worked with Jayme’s parents. She said she doesn’t understand why anyone would harm them. “I don’t think that there was anybody that would of been against them because they were such nice people, and I don’t think anybody would want to hurt them,” A said. A also said whoever has her should give her back because there’s a lot of people who really love her and don’t want to see anything bad happen to her.
Family, friends share stories of who Jayme Closs is

SL, president at Jennie-O Turkey Store said, “Our thoughts are with the Closs family and the entire Barron community. Jim and Denise were long time members of the Jennie-O Turkey Store family. This is a difficult time for our entire team and we are mourning this loss and are still processing this terrible tragedy. We are also hopeful for the safe return of their daughter, Jayme, and are keeping her and the Closs family in our thoughts.”

Neighbors, close friends, and the community showed their support for the Closs family during a candle light vigil at St. Peters Catholic Church on Tuesday. “Everyone is feeling very helpless right now,” MS, friend of the Closs family, told News 18.

OCT 18
Jayme’s grandfather
, 72-year-old RN, said nothing seemed amiss at the family gathering that Jayme and her mother attended Sunday afternoon. He said Jayme’s father was at work at the time. James and Denise Closs were longtime employees at the Jennie-O Turkey Store in Barron, which has a hatchery and processing plant. RN, Denise Closs’ father, told the Associated Press on Tuesday that Jayme “was quiet as always” at a birthday party for another family member. Denise Closs, he said, was “a thoughtful person [who brought] a little gift for everybody” at the party.

At the Barron Area Community Center, where Jim Closs’ name is listed on a board recognizing those who have exercised for 1,000 hours, local resident MS said everybody was “on edge, waiting to find out what’s going on here.” MS said he knew Jim Closs from high school athletics when Closs went to school in Ladysmith, Wis. The family was known for being active in their community, he said.

At Christine’s Dance Company, CF said the mood had been “somber” with the realization that part of their family was missing. “That ache doesn’t go away,” she said.

Jayme, a quiet, sweet girl who blossomed under encouragement, has taken dance classes since at least 2010, CF said. She was scheduled to come in for a 5:40 p.m. class Wednesday with two other girls. Instead, CF expected she would let Jayme’s classmates and parents talk about their missing friend.

Tearing up, CF said she can’t help but wonder what Jayme is going through.

SP said she knew the Closs family very well, she is hoping for a safe return of Jayme Closs. “I wear it for Jayme’s family, the family that I have grown up knowing throughout the years ever since kindergarten,” said SP. “I really hope they find Jayme. She really is just truthfully a sweet and loving girl, and I want her to come home now, as much as the family sure needs to as well.”

Cameron resident JS, whose wife is Denise Closs’ sister, contacted area newspapers last week to announce he had set up an account for the family at Sterling Bank. On Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, JS said the family has “no immediate financial needs. I set up the account at Sterling Bank, because a lot of people have offered money, and I just wanted to have a place to put it.”

During a press conference on Wednesday, Jayme's aunt, JS, addressed reporters and thanked the Barron County community for their love and support. "Jayme, not a moment goes by where we are not thinking of you and praying for you," JS said. "Your family and friends miss you so much."

OCT 27
Missy Ruffin of Rice Lake worked with them both at the Jennie-O turkey plant in Barron for more than 20 years. She was especially close to James Closs, with whom she worked “eight hours a day, five days a week for 15 years.” Ruffin sobbed as she left the service, dabbing her eyes with tissue. “I just hope they’re at peace,” she said, her voice catching in gasps. “They didn’t hurt nobody. They didn’t bother nobody.

NOV 2
“Like a woman who just lost her sister and her god-daughter who is missing, I mean not well, I don’t think any of the family is doing well,” MS, a family friend said. MS is talking about her friend, JS, who just lost her sister Denise and brother-in-law James Closs. She said she’s been doing whatever she can to help the family.

NOV 12
“I was home alone when she called me. You get a phone call that early in the morning and you see it’s your sister -- you know something bad had happened,” SA recalled to Dateline. “She told me to sit down. She had bad news. And I also fell to the ground and probably screamed so loud.”

Jayme’s aunt SA told Dateline that her 13-year-old niece had no access to money or transportation. Sheriff Fitzgerald told Dateline Jayme’s cell phone is in police possession.
Investigators no closer to finding missing teen Jayme Closs whose parents were found dead in Wisconsin home

They believe the attack was targeted and planned. Family members recently returned to the Closs house in search for answers of their own. “It brought up more questions for us,” SA said.

Aunt SA and the others said while the community support in Barron has been overwhelming, the rumors connected to this case on social media really hurt. One they dismiss angrily is this idea Jayme had some secret boyfriend.

Family members are grappling with the deaths of Jim and Denise Closs and the disappearance of 13-year-old Jayme. KARE 11's Lou Raguse asked them: "What do you think happened?"
KARE 11

JC and KE were devastated by the loss of their oldest brother Jim and sister-in-law Denise. And they are unable to move forward because their niece, Jayme, is still missing. "We're trying to grieve our brother and sister-in-law. But then when you grieve, you feel guilty, because you're grieving. Because we still have a niece we want to come home," KE said.

The siblings say Jim was a hard-working, die-hard Packers and Badgers fan who loved recounting his own Ladysmith High School glory days at family gatherings. Denise, they say, was a sweetheart. And Jayme, her little follower.

NOV 15
Denise Closs' brother, SN
, said the family is hoping that evidence that leads to Jayme's safe return will eventually emerge. "Something's got to give, there has to be something left somewhere," he said.

"I know this whole area is in shock because never has the family fathomed they would deal with something like this, but this community hasn't either," SN said.

‘We Will Not Give Up’: Godmother Of Jayme Closs Speaks Out

NOV 16
JS said she talked to her sister the night before, and they got off the phone at about 10 p.m. She said everything seemed fine. She had no idea that was the last time she’d hear her sister’s voice.

JS said social media rumors about her family are upsetting. There are entire Facebook groups dedicated to theories about the crime, not all of them are kind to the family. “And all that stuff on social media that’s made up, I just get so angry, I can’t even go read it anymore. It’s a tragedy, it’s horrible. Losing a sister and a brother-in-law and then have your niece missing, and people saying this about us, it’s awful. I just wish it would stop,” said JS.

WATCH – One Month Missing: The Closs Mystery special report

NOV 20
RN “Grandpa Red”, Denise’s father and Jayme’s grandfather, who also lives in Cornell, said Denise would call him two or three times a day. “She always had something else to tell me,” he said. “I could hear Jayme laughing in the background with her dad.” The loss of his daughter and the disappearance of his granddaughter, he said, have shattered his world.

He said he hasn’t been able to put his daughter to rest in his mind because the casket was closed at her funeral, robbing him of the opportunity to see her one last time.
A month after Jayme Closs vanished, the feeling in her hometown is 'very dark'

NOV 21
"It's hard, not knowing where (Jayme's) at," said RN, 72, Jayme's grandfather and Denise Closs' father. "Can't do nothing for Jim and Denise but her ..." RN said he'll be hosting Thanksgiving at his home as relatives still shocked by the tragedy try to comfort one another. "Everybody wants to be together," he said.

"I got a lot of things around here I look at and think of them," he said. March 16 will be three years since his wife passed away, he said. "That was hard to get over," he said. "I don't know if I'll ever get over this."
Missing Wisconsin girl's family faces painful holiday season

Thank you for putting all of these links together. Some I hadn't read before.

As I read them all what is the main thing I take away from all of them is Jim...Denise and Jayme were all extremely close to each other and all were much loved by those who knew them well.

Why does it always seem such awful tragic things like this so often happens to very good people? So sad.

What a rotten evil world we live in at times and its cases like this that shows it does happen and way too often to very good families.

I am a ID junkie and I watch so many cases where the victims were all known as very good ..kind and caring people living a moral life where family and friends means everything to them. Yet they were cruelly murdered when evil also crossed their path.

Its heartbreaking how many times this has happened.

Reading all of these comments by those who knew them well shows they all are tight knit families. I pray they continue to lean on one another for strength and support and their religious faith will also help them remain strong.

It is even hurtful for me to read how they say the internet rumors and unsupported allegations and mere asumptions against the victims hurt these families. How could it not? These are families with deep feelings who have already suffered so much loss.

It has to be a nightmare for all of them to endure beyond having to deal with the terrible loss of Jim and Denise with Jayme still missing.

Imo them seeing what is being said about their families from those who doesn't even know any of them compounds their grief. All of it is neverending. My heart breaks for all of them.

I have said previously that I believe some social media sites are the worst thing that has ever happened for crime victims and their family members left behind to deal with all of the backlash. Sadly I still have that same opinion..

It's become so out of control now on many sites where accusations are thrown out 24/7 even though there arent any known facts to support the majority of them. I think it will only become worse and never better.

At one time even on social media sites victims of violent crimes and their family members who were in unimaginable pain and suffering recieved support and understanding.

That no longer seems to be the case any more and its become rare for many social media chatters to support crime victim families and now even victims can be blamed for their own deaths based on nothing factual but based solely on rank speculation.

I find it all extremely sad.

Jmo though

I thought 5 feet seemed odd and specific at first too. But then it occurred to me that maybe it's based on the location of the bodies, the impact of the bullets, the direction of the bullets in the bodies, the type of bullets etc and they were able to forensically determine that the person must have shot them within 5 ft of the door way. Any closer to the bodies would have changed the impact, splatter etc. And then any farther away would have meant shot from outside the door which again might be really unlikely based on the location of the bodies.

He said 5 ft... and he has evidence..u could be correct... I think what Fitzgerald is likely saying is right inside doorway..2 people suffered horrific gunshot wounds that killed them instantly. There’s blood / tissue likely close inside door spread backwards from 1 or 2 people... there’s no footprints through that could be how he arrives at 5 ft... dunno.. but think it was a mess... and perp didn’t step near it.. sadly

This is the conclusion I came to as well, the only thing that makes sense considering the 5 feet and evidence comments.

But how did the perp(s) grab Jayme? Was she just inside the doorway as well?

  • #651
I don’t take the 4 minutes and 5 feet as exact. I believe it’s simply meant to say they weren’t there for long and that they didn’t go all through the house, so they left little forensic evidence.

@Lillymac

I believe those pictures posted of the deck door were taken well after the night of the murder and it wasn't one of those patio doors that were carried out. In one of the pictures, you can see that the front door is white which is after it was replaced weeks later. Also, we haven't as much snow on the ground here as is in those pictures until about a month or so ago so I think the patio doors are still all there.

Yeah that is strange, if they are looking for her it might help to describe what she had on, not just how she looked in old photos. So I guess LE and the family have no idea either.

I certainly don't take the 4 minutes as exact. I believe the 4 minutes is the approximate time from the hang up of the 911 call to when the first LE was within site of the driveway to home - and didn't see a car driving off. IOW, 4 minutes is the maximum amount of time the killer(s) could have been in the house while accounting for the time to get Jayme to the vehicle, start up the car and be out of sight before LE arrives. It could have been 2-3 minutes or less. How long does it take to pull the trigger twice and if Jayme responded right then out of fear it is possible.

The 5 feet is something else. Was there dew or frost on the ground that night and the killer walked through it? With the right equipment such as ultraviolet light they might be able to follow the killer's prints through the foyer. Granted LE went into the house too, but they can probably match a shoe print on the door where it was kicked to the prints on the floor. There is also the location of the shell casings.

If he wasn't exact, I'd rather he said 4 minutes and 4 feet. Makes it easier for everyone to grasp. Then there were also 4 people in the house, and 4 spent bullet casings too.....

Been observing the commendable efforts of all you guys now since the beginning: Unfortunately without more information from LE we are just going round in circles. It is possible that Jayme was taken by someone in Barron? Has the Barron LE and Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald risked offending enough local people yet? Time to search every out house, shelter, and building with appropriately trained dogs. Ask permission and those who do not give permission, treat as suspects.

Her aunts stated they think it was someone local that took her. They must have reasons to think this.

Its possible perp may have brought something and had her throw it on (boots / coat). We just don't know.
