I agree ... I think he’s optimistic they will find alive/body and can build from that... if u find body 5 yrs from now in field. Dunno what good that does ...

If they have POI and they find on their property or buried next to there hunting cabin... guess that could help ...dunno

I think Fitzgerald is smart in taking the few items he does have and releasing them slowly over time to keep case on front pages.... guessing in 3 weeks he’ll say where Denise body found... then at some point reslease part of 911 call ..? If perp yelling audible ??

This is a theory!!!!

I think it takes him 3 weeks to decide what he wants to release.
If the obvious is discussed on this forum maybe some answers will emerge. And the obvious is not very much.
I think one example might be the word "blanket". This says to me the phone was at some point in a bedroom. If it was in the bathroom, I think "towel" would have been used. Or in another room "hand" might have been used to describe the muffled sound.
The sheriff has said Jayme was alive during the 911 call and he's also said James and Denise died instantly. So, I believe Jayme made the call, but was taken before she could speak into the phone. I think she probably could easily identify them, so in a moment of panic the perp/s grab her and took her.
This is theory based on what I've seen reported. Also based on my feelings that Jayme was not targeted.
I think James and Denise were perceived as a "power" couple by someone at Jennie O and out of jealousy and pure hate were murdered.
As has been mentioned before gloves and shoe protectors were probably worn as well as overalls to eliminate DNA and prints.
James answers door, sees trouble, Denise goes to door to help. The perp gets in and kills them both. Jayme comes out and they grab her. She drops blanket and phone. Perp doesn't notice this, and they're out the door.
What has occurred after I won't speculate, because there is nothing to speculate on. Nothing from LE. And I think this is what the sheriff means when he says we will know when the killer/s are found!!!

This is a theory. My interpretation and speculation only based on what I have seen from Barron LE.

The 'Denise barricaded herself in the bathroom' story first came to light in the Daily Mail Online dated 21 October 2018:

'There is a report that someone allegedly knocked on the door and as the father went to answer it gunfire erupted through the door. That has not been confirmed yet as it's an active investigation,' the FBI source said.

'The mother appeared to have barricaded herself in the bathroom and called police,' added the source.

It now appears that the dispatcher may have been hearing Denise's panicked final moments as the killer stormed into the bathroom where she hiding.

I don't know where the DM got this information from, but i'm certain it wouldn't be from an FBI source!
UBM
Could a shotgun blast break the door like we saw in the photo with the vertical splinter? I guess it would have it much easier to kick it in. As crazy as it seems, maybe the DM has this part right?

1) Call log said male (James) answered door, door was kicked in
2) Denise's father originally reported the door had been shot in

An FBI source could be a janitor

According to familywatchdog.us
There are 2 registered child sexual predators that live across the street from Jaymes' church.
Maybe someone watched her go to the classes regularly or to Sunday services??
See attached map.

It’s been mentioned she lived off the highway where folks were regularly heading to the turkey plant and elsewhere. If she stood at a bus stop and they saw her regularly....

However, my first theory that this is revenge from some work grievance still remains my primary speculation.

Some checking appears to have this person and family in Colorado since the summer. Doesn't eliminate but seems unlikely.

Hmmmm. My search shows living in Wisconsin until at least til October.

I've wondered that myself as per what research I've done, WI does not require guns to be registered nor is a permit required to purchase a gun. The only thing I can think of is LE went to a close relative like his brother and asked what guns he had or showed him a list of those in the house.
Yes, very possible family could have had a look to see what was still in the house compared to what they knew James had... but... who is to say that James didn't have one or more that whichever family member(s) may not have been aware of, and especially if guns aren't required to be registered in WI? As much as we all like to think we're close to our siblings in adulthood, unless you live together and can see what each other owns, how can that type of knowledge be relied upon?

Police found the phone in the doorway of a bathroom hallway, away from where the two bodies were discovered, he said in an interview with MPR News.

Im not sure without more details we could ever determine who made the call, but a couple things I have considered are, a) Jayme possibly made the call and put the phone in her pocket (if she had one). Being in a pocket would make her own voice sound muffled but recognizable - and it could also be easy for it to have fallen out and landed in a random place. And b), regardless who made the call, its possible no one knew it was made until the dispatcher called it back. Maybe when it rang, whoever had it was told to toss it away from themselves so it couldnt be answered. I kind of think by now, LE knows who made the call, though.

I do see the moment it rang as being the moment it was realized that it was time to flee.

Even if guns are registered, there are always those that are inherited or bought from someone who didn't have one registered, so that possibility is still there. Without registration an interview with a close family member is probably the best LE can hope for.

Did anyone see this??? This is their church!!

Barron County Woman Pleads Guilty to Fraud & Tax Charges Stemming from Church Embezzlement
I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed however I've been following this form closely and do not remember this being mentioned. It could be important. It also mentions the woman's gambling debt....hence police visiting casino...... Maybe the Closs family knew about this?

Their funerals were held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cameron

Not my primary speculation, but only because I'm still too confused about this case to settle on any one scenario. I've thought about the revenge theory in the sense that this was something imagined or perceived ONLY by the killer. Even it was known to one or both of the parents, if they didn't confide in anyone, regardless of the reason why they would keep to themselves, it died with the parents. Until LE finds the killer.

Is there a way to see court transcripts? Wondering who the witnesses were and why this case is listed as confidential. Revenge? Husband is left with paying back the $800k plus the tax warrants for it......maybe more people knew about it?

It's been exactly two months now. I was so hoping we would see a break in the case by now. My thoughts go back and forth on this case. Does anyone here remember the Kyron Horman (I believe that is the name) case where the little boy went missing several years ago. That case still haunts me and I made up my mind about who was responsible for his disappearance. We have so little to go on in this case. Again, we don't know the timeline of James day and what, if anything, happened at the Jennie-O-Turkey plant that day. At this point, LE is keeping what little info they have close to them. Both James and Denise had close ties to their employer. I mentioned before that a family member referred to Denise as "the family angel, who would go out of her way to help anyone in need. Wonder if she help anyone from the church? A new member or someone in need? The article posted here about the lady who embezzled from the church shows that not all the people associated with the church are good people! Glad she is in jail now. I really want to believe that there are more Good People in our world rather than Bad People. We really have some evil people among us. It would be a true miracle if we found beautiful Jayme now. The Closs family did NOT deserve any of this and the evil that inflicted this.

The sheriff reported told media that JC had guns and that they were accounted for. In WI, is it mandatory to register all of your guns? Is that how the sheriff would know they were all accounted for? Is there a possibility JC could have had any guns that were not registered?

No.
Maybe they asked his hunting buddies.
Even if it was his though, they do know the gun that was used was not in the house.
It's interesting that other guns were. This suggests that when he came to the door, James might not have been armed.

  • #817
Are we absolutely certain that James was inside the door, not outside? TIA

In the doorway. They never said if his body was all inside or partway.

  • #818
No. It said it was found in hallway by the bathroom door,

No, he said, "in the doorway of a bathroom hallway". I'm not sure whether that means the doorway of a bathroom in the hallway (in which case you'd think they'd say in the doorway of a hallway bathroom) or that the bathroom itself has a hallway. That would be uncommon but possible I guess.

  • #819
Who made that call????? Did Denise start it, then run to James? Was it under bed covers originally? Did Jayme call, hiding under her covers?

This would seem like it would fit the muffled sound and being dropped as she was hauled out, BUT, why would she have Denise's phone in her bedroom. Kind of so much for that theory. Unless she was in bed with Denise?

Their church was the church of the embezzler? Then why was the funeral at another church? Bigger?
