Sheriff stated phone was found between James and Denise. New Minnesota NPR article Sheriff stated phone found "in the door way of a bathroom hallway ." James body at front door. So Denise was found somewhere past the door way of the bathroom hall. IMO

Not in the NPR article. "away from where the two bodies were discovered, he said in an interview with MPR News." Away from, not "between." Is there something else that says between?

So NO shoe prints found in the house. That blows away my first theory on how LE determined the killer(s) only went 5 feet into the house. Of course, the LACK of shoe prints could be that there was blood splatter and the only track through it were made by small feet going out. (That's gruesome to think about.)

They seemed very interested in the deck. They might have gone in the front and out the sliding door. Or just blasted in the front but then (a second perp?) in and out the sliding door.

I don't think this is their church.
Their parish includes a St Joseph's church in Barron, and also has churches/services in Cameron, Strictland, and Chetek.
This article concerns a St Joseph's church in Turtle Lake. Great find and certainly suspicious, but I think it's unfortunately unrelated.

Denise's father is not trained in how to say things precisely. Saying James was shot in the doorway, or through the doorway, could certainly have come out as sounding like the door was shot in.

Is there a way to see court transcripts? Wondering who the witnesses were and why this case is listed as confidential. Revenge? Husband is left with paying back the $800k plus the tax warrants for it......maybe more people knew about it?

Do we know if James and/or Denise would regularly visited the casino? If so, they might have been aware if an acquaintance would have gambling problems.

after more thinking on the lack of dna, etc, left and then adding thinking about the turkey plant.....consider that anyone working there likely understands cross contamination well. the manufacture would not want any trace in their product of contamination and a person wouldn't want any trace of product on themselves to transfer to their car, home, etc. a person that worked there would have the skill and access to protective gear to not leave a trace. MOO.

well a person could have taken supplies home and already had on hand and dressed in the yard if everyone was asleep or dressed down the road somewhere, gone in clean and not worried about what they had on them leaveing and burnt or discarded the gear latter. if supplies came from the plant then even if trace fibers from like disposable coveralls was found it would be expected because both parents likely wore them at work too.

sure, lots could know. the plant is right there though and likely a high percentage of people from the area work there. could be from anywhere though. someone skilled in being cross contamination aware would be much more likely to be able to not leave a trace.

The article mentions St Joseph in Rice Lake, WI. If I google that I find a group of facilities in: Rice Lake, Birchwood, Dobie, and Haugen (WI).

I would agree that it doesn't appear to be the Closs' church and even if it were, we would tread lightly about speculating linkage to the case if LE or MSM has not.

It was from Sheriff Fitzgerald's interview with the Daily Mail 6 December 2018:

Fitzgerald said: 'The house wasn't disturbed at all from what we were able to tell. That's part of the confusing part of this case.

'It doesn't appear that anything was taken, it doesn't appear that Jayme packed up any clothing.'

Law enforcement has not ruled out that Jayme unwittingly played a part in the crime. But searches of her social media, cell phone and computer have offered no evidence of a boyfriend or anyone she met anyone online who might have targeted her or her parents.

According to Fitzgerald the killer was in the Closs home for only four minutes during which they stepped just five feet into the open plan house, shot James and Denise and took Jayme.

Both Denise and James died 'instantly' of their wounds, he said.

And, despite an inaudible 911 call made from her mother's cell at 12.54am, when police arrived at 12.58am he revealed that there was no sign that Jayme resisted her abductor. There was nothing taken and nothing disturbed.

In fact there was no forensic evidence of any intruder at all.

The sheriff said: 'That's the frustrating part of it. We've had four different lab teams look at the scene before we released it. We were very strategic. When we discovered it was a major crime we sealed it off immediately.

'But if I'm in your house for minutes and I only step five feet inside your home I'm probably not going to leave a big footprint.'

I don't want to speculate. But I would like to have some insight as to where especially Jayme would spend her time. And when/if she would be unsupervised. What transportation she would have to various activities.
I want to know if it would have been almost impossible to groom/abduct/stalk her or not. And if there were 'good' opportunities to abduct her when she would be alone/unsupervised.

So we can get a better idea if this was about getting Jayme. Or about getting Jayme and not leaving anyone (her parents) alive who could point towards the perp.
Or if this was random or about making the parents shut up about something and Jayme just happened to be a victim of that.

but LE hasn't found the car. there may be closs evidence in their car, if jayme was taken in car I am sure there is contamination in car. no found contamination in house makes harder to find car.
