Here’s some insanity...

Put the dog on webcam .... while aunt is at work .... dog on daily anyone can access...shows jayme shes not forgotten...

Any odd pings viewing daily.... maybe follow up why person x 3 hours away ..is watching the dog...so much...

I know that sounds nuts...you won’t find anything without kicking tires.

I agree do something to stir it up a bit and see what comes to the top. I am sure LE is doing all they can. family seems to compliant this far out. moo. hope, faith, and prayer is great, but it doesn't seem to be working.

they seem like a nice family, but it might be time to quit being so nice and start pushing at least a little.

It is time to start pushing those who might know who had a motive, and those who suspect what might have happened to the family to step up. There may be a way to do so without compromising one’s identity or having to step forward in court. MOO.

FBI has not been able to come up with a motive or even who was targeted...I feel like no one knows anything useful at this point. Everything brought to LE as even a remote possibility has likely been explored. Whatever the family may have had run through their minds during these weeks and months would have been thoroughly checked out. Jmo

with jayme gone how can they rule in or out if finger prints are hers? say there was x number of prints found, mom and dad would have prints to compare as I am assuming theirs could have been gotten post death, but jayme I wouldn't think would have any on record anywhere and she isn't there to get hers to compare.

  • #867
Her fingerprint could be taken from her phone, hairbrush, personal items etc I think.

If it’s an Iphone with touch ID, then it’s stored digitally, too. The thumb is, anyway. Probably all over the parents car interiors, too.

I hear ya, but I think failed kicks at the door would have had someone calling 911 right off the bat. Knocking isn't menacing, necessarily, even though the hour was late. I theorize it was simple knocking, aimed at getting James (and hopefully Denise) to the door, w/ the perp planning to shoot him/them as soon as the door was opened, or through the door, if James just spoke w/out opening it.

You're right, though - three people in the house w/cell phones; no matter what the perp's plan was, it was a long shot none of the three would get a call/text off. And the long shot didn't pay off, as someone did get a call off to 911. Perp had to know that was likely to happen and planned for a swift attack and exit.

I think the perp could have been trying to lure James out of the house.
The gunshots the neighbours heard around 00.31 could have been an attempt to get James to step outside.
And if the filth on the patio door was caused by something (egg?) thrown against the patio door (before or after those shots), that would have also been an attempt to get James to step outside.

If he didn't go outside to check, the kicking in of the front door might very well have been option 3.

If the above is true, the perp must have been hanging out in the dark without a car that would have been visible to the Closs family. Which leads me to believe that there must have been a second person involved, who would drive the getaway car.

This article has a view from the west to east, of the June accident. Names of drivers released in fatal head-on crash at Barron
There are both regular sized "phone poles" there and high lines. See the high tower beyond the fire truck, and then if you look carefully, you can see the "phone pole" beyond that. If you click here, you can see where those 2 poles are relative to the Closs home. The "phone pole" is essentially in their driveway. Google Maps

Hmm, so an unsuccessful attempt to lure James out of the house resulted in him being shot dead in the doorway. Well, failure, if you have a name, call it success!!

Ok, next: egging the patio door? No evidence of violence there. Dead bodies near the front of the house. Sigh. Head hurting BADLY from rolling my eyes. James and Denise were SLAUGHTERED near the front door from what we've been told. I get theories. THE-O-RIES!!

You want a theory?!! The shots heard by the neighbors were real. And James turned on the front porch light, stepped outside, and yelled in the general direction of the spotlighting deer hunters near his property: "Get the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 outta here or I'll call the cops!!"

Less than 20 minutes later -- BOOM -- hell breaks loose in the Closs house. Perps' last gun jams, so Jayme is taken in the escape.

So then what are we to believe about these people (the Smrekars)? Did they imagine the shots? Did they hear different, unrelated shots? What were those shots? Are they insane? Liars? I guess what I’m saying is that there should be a reasonable explanation for their account of that night, but there isn’t.

They could have heard the shots as they said they did. Just not at the time they believed. They screwed up the timeline. They are elderly. They may have had a few drinks. Who knows? Sheriff told them from the get-go that their clock, physically, was set to a time 7 minutes off from reality. They said they were unaware the neighbors had a daughter and that the Closs family seemed to be recluses. All evidence from other community members and social media indicates just the opposite. So who knows? They could just be an older, odd couple. But LE has distanced itself from their timeline statements.

The shots could have easily been 20 minutes earlier and one of them, the mother I assume, was not dead. Either she played dead or she was so weak it took her 15 minutes to crawl to the phone.

I know of a woman when I was in high school, that lived after she was raped, the man shot her and left her for dead. If she didn't play dead, he would've undoubtedly shot her again. But she lived and he was arrested and convicted.

Unless the cops were cruising in the area, I still don't buy they could've got there in four minutes.

I have lived in NYC and Chicago and you can't get cops there that quick, but if they were right in the area by chance, then I could agree with it.
Sheriff has stated that both parents were shot and died instantly. That would presumably come from an autopsy report we have not yet been privvy to. No one lingered.

If you want to lure someone out of the house without him calling the cops instead or grabbing a gun first, it has to be in a way that makes someone go have a look, but not be too alarmed.

Apparently if that's what the 00.31 gunshots or a noise at the patio would have been for, it didn't work.
If it had, James would have been shot outside.

Kicking in the door in stead of knocking I think was the only way to prevent the victims from grabbing a gun first or calling 911. Because it would have been so quick and unexpected.

But, Dutch, kicking the door in would have been a direct, sudden attck -- one that wouldn't have seen James (or anyone else at the front door). The whole point of kicking in a front door, at least in my experience, is to storm a house w/ as little unsuspected response as possible. James was at the door, at least by the info we have been provided. And Denise must have been near. So, either James (and Denise) were responding to a knock or some other (kicking?) sound at tne door, imo.

There could have been confusion over the 911 call, there must be something heard on there to make them initially think a suicide. Maybe DC says something like ‘please don’t J, don’t do it’ leading dispatchers to think she’s trying to talk him out of suicide. The names James and Jayme cold be hard to tell apart if there’s a lot of background noise. I do believe the details that have been released do suggest a murder/kidnapping and that Jayme is in danger, but I like to try and find a scenario where everything fits and the fact that we don’t know where Jayme is right now means that we can’t know for absolute 100% certainty that she didn’t know the murderer(s). I don’t like to suggest she was involved as it’s likely not the case, and after all she is assumed endangered until located. But that’s possibly one avenue they’ve either ruled out or are looking into. This must be a living nightmare for the family at this time of year and I hope they get answers soon.

The suicide was not mentioned by the 911. It was the LE at the scene who thought that. Not 911 call

But you would have to physically touch the door with something and enter the house (and possibly leave evidence) that's what I was thinking about.

And there must have been something interesting on that porch, cause it was full of LE/forensics.

I think what was interesting on the porch (front porch, not deck) was shell casings fired through the door + possible blood splatter on the door from James being shot by a 9MM or AR-15 rifle, and we all know OceanEyes heavily favors the weapon being a handgun. I tend to think it was a rifle, largely because LE won't confirm the weapon was an everyday handgun.

ETA: Yes, one would have to physically touch the door -- rapping ones' knuckles through gloves on a door. Good luck getting DNA from that.
