WI WI - Jean Colborne, 56, Rhinelander, 14 July 1977

  • #21
Since you linked the Columbia county sheriff in what you reported, @oldmaid , I submitted to the Oneida county sheriff and will see if they do anything. I'll update you all if I hear anything. Unfortunately there's no DNA for Jean, according to Doe Network 4734DFWI - Jean Colborne so he might need to track down family.

Her brother John died in 1990 in Kansas.

According to his wife's 2019 obit, they had 5 children. She was survived by four sons. If they're tracked down, maybe they might submit DNA.

Jean's mother's obit, Wausau Daily Herald, Fr Jul 5, 1968, page 14 (Newspapers.com) died at age 75 in a nursing home after a long illness. Maybe that influenced Jean to leave the nursing home because she didn't want that to happen to her. Just a thought.

I offered to track her family down to obtain dna but they said they have it already. Which is good! I just know if they are going through NamUs, their dna service has a year wait and that doesn’t even count how long it takes to test or whatever they do.

If she is westby doe, it’s foul play without question, but if she’s not, that’s possible. But personally I think the home was negligent.
