Good thoughts. The great unknowns are still the answers to the the questions of why she ended up in that driveway, and where she was for those previous hours. I hope for her family's sake, some of those questions can be answered.Sometimes when a car catches fire the doors can no longer be unlocked. I wonder if something like that may have happened if this was an accident. Maybe she can't unlock the driver's side door, so clambers over to the passenger side and can't unlock that either, and then it is too late and she perishes. This is a heartbreaking story, no matter what the cause. MOO
ITA. I don't think that is what happened either but on the other hand TOS here do not allow any formulation of theory or discussion to support or not support the idea that she took her own life.Yes, and it's also true that those with suicidal ideation, once they make up their minds to do it, often feel a sense of relief (or even elation). So, people who interact with them just before the suicide have no idea what they're about to do. Not that I think this is what happened with Kathleen. I have absolutely no idea.

I believe that whoever was driving that car for whatever reason thought the driveway was a road into the County Forest Preserve. Because, how many time do you know of that a private driveway came out at a light on a busy road like that. This sounds likely. It would explain why she was in the passenger seat. The off thing is the timing. And why did she pull up in that driveway? Those two things don't really fit for any of the scenarios. So puzzling. I wish there were answers for her family. My thoughts are with them.
Door latches are operated mechanically by a steel rod attached from the interior and exterior door handles to the latch itself. Some door handles (the part you pull to open the door) are made of plastic that would melt during a fire. If this happened the door would no longer open when pulling on the handle. But by the time the door handle melted from heat during a fire the occupant inside the car would have perished and not been able to operate the door handle anyway.Sometimes when a car catches fire the doors can no longer be unlocked. That's a question I have had and it seems they deliberately aren't answering. If LE thought this was accidental or suicide, the keys would be with her and they wouldn't be expending resources on further investigation.I'm wondering if the keys were out of the ignition and in her hand? MOO
