Whoa! I just remembered another case, a little girl wandered off, and was found in the woods with freezing temps, and she survived. Doctors then didn't think it was possible either. Can't think of her name, but it was case on here.

I've got kind of a theory about newborns maybe being able to survive something like this where others would not. The baby was living in a womb for 9 months and special "things" are happening in the womb like no-breathing, umbilical cord nutrition, etc.

Just wondering if newborns have lingering "effects" that allow them to survive something like this when others would not. Like once that baby got to be even 2 or 3 months old and if in that exact same situation, then they would not have survived.

Just a theory Ive been thinking about.

Her husband's last name is also Smith as is his entire family...
I'm not sure if they are claiming that her NAME is not really Kristen Smith?
Or if they are just claiming that she is using the identity of this specific Kristen Smith instead of her own?

Her children's names would have to have been changed as well.
They appear to also have the last name Smith.

It's much harder to change your identity once you have kids.
It also seems that she would have changed it AFTER her fraud...
So that she wouldn't have that warrant in her current identity.
But it doesn't appear she was a very smart criminal... so maybe not.

Just a thought.... On facebook I found 3 other women who have the exact same name (an unusual one) as I do (lets just say my name is Jenny Doe). The other "Jenny Does" and I comment on each other pictures and laugh when our family and friends get confused.

But it occurred to us 3 that if we wanted to do an identity theft we could just use the others info and we already have a license with that name on it. I have a cousin with the exact same name and when I tried to renew insurance last month, they told me I had had an at fault accident in my 2011 Tundra in a town hundreds of miles away. Turn out it was my cousin.

So Kristen Smith may very well be named Kristen Smith but is using the other Kristen Smith's DOB, address, ss#, etc. Didn't the cops say there was a warrant for her unrelated to the babynapping? So KS might have pretended to be the OTHER KS to avoid arrest, to get credit cards, etc.

And Kristen Smith has to be a rather common name. According to this link (http://www.intelius.com/results.php?ReportType=1&searchform=name&qf=Kristen&qn=Smith) they have 100 Kristen Smiths located. For a few bucks, you can get all the info on the such as relatives, current and former addresses, age, etc.

Kristen ROSE Smith would be rarer but still easy enough to modify.

Definitely a curious case here. I'm just glad the baby was found safe.

Thats kind of in line what I am wondering. I'm wondering if the FB we are thinking is the lady in jail is really another person living comfortably with her family in Colorado right now.

The lady in jail may have been using her identity in more ways than one.

Remember many years ago how people would always put a PINK STORK BIRD in their yard announcing a new baby and have balloons and decorations all over the front of their yard and house.

It's evil woman like this lady and all the other hospital baby snatchers that have made that tradition all but disappear, and I am saddened about that.

Im just so happy the boy is safe and with the real Mom+Dad right now. So So Happy!!!

You may be right, but what did the relatives really say?
Did they say anything specific that ensures this lady is truly their relative?
OR did they just express shock and maybe that shock is because this lady was going to this extreme to steal their identity?

A previous post today talks about another family in Colorado having their identity stolen and abused. We dont know the extent of it.

I dont have FB ID, so only saw bits and pieces.

The part that bugged me a little was the mug shot and comparing to some pics that I did see. I wasnt sure if it was the same person or not

No matter what. That smirk she had in the mug shot makes me not trust that lady in jail one bit.

Yeah, she cleans up well. On her FB page she is dolled up and stunning. In her mugshot she looks smug and superior... bugs the heck out of me too.

I don't buy that her husband didn't know she wasn't pregnant. Would you let your wife, who you thought was about to give birth, drive from CO to WI alone? I don't think so. And then what? She shows up with a baby. . .SURPRISE! I had the baby in WI and decided to drive myself all the way back home. Uh, yeah right!

I'm afraid this was some type of surrogate or adoption scam.

I knew it was her by the 3 freckles that are positioned in a triangle shape by her eyebrows. They are in the mugshots and in the pics on the facebook. What a sad case. She seemed to have a loving husband, newly married, supportive family. I just don't know wth she was thinking.

You can't just show up with a baby and not have a birth certificate or even go to the hospital for a checkup. They will check to see if the woman actually gave birth. Since she and hubby just married in the past year, (planned to wedding about a year or so).

I wonder if the kids are his kids and her kids but not any that they are both the biological parents of. Maybe she wanted to have her hubby's baby but couldn't? Maybe she (like in another babynapping case) had her tubes tied and hadn't told him?

I can't even figure this one out but I am glad the baby is ok and safely back home.

I think the case 2Hope4 is referring to is Amber Rose Smith, I remember it too. She wandered off with not much more on than a halter top if IIRC.
