GUILTY WI - LAKE GENEVA SUITCASE MURDERS, Laura Simonson & Jenny Gamez - #2

Wow, hadn't thought of anything like that! I definitely think that ownership and total domination was what he wanted, and I agree he is sadistic. I tend to think that he couldn't find anyone who would submit to him to the extent that he needed. I think his frustrations kept escalating, and his fetishes along with it, until it resulted in death of these two women and possibly others. He may have drugged them if he thought that was the way to get what he wanted. I'm not suggesting any accidental death, it's definitely murder to me. But I'm intrigued by what NMA said about being more interested in the aesthetics than the girls wellbeing/comfort. That says to me that he would take things to an extreme level where his 'slave' could die because he is too focussed on his own pleasure, a huge part of which is the sadism. I do toss this up against him actually getting off on letting the victims die. That could be part of his fetish, but who knows. I'm not sure what I think of him keeping their bodies. I suppose a lot of forensic tests have been done to see whether their bodies were interfered with (other than the obvious keeping and disposing their bodies). Also, I'm not really sure that the girl kept in a cage for seven years actually existed. I think that perhaps he used the story of the girl in a cage, and some pictures, to try and reassure or convince other girls to do it because that's what he was ultimately after.

This is all very similar to the conclusions I am coming to, as well. Especially the girl in a cage not really existing.

it occurred to me last night, what if he DID keep a girl in a cage for seven years? (that wouldn't mean she was alive the entire time.) a missing link here is not knowing if he had an off-site location.

That could have been the start of his "collection" . . .

Women rejected his advances and he finally found a niche where he could fit in, BDSM. The world of BDSM allowed him the opportunity to create a DOMINANT role in life, take what he wanted. He didn't follow the rules of the BDSM culture like he didn't follow the rules while in LE.

This. Only I think he eventually realized he didn't fit into that niche all that well, but stayed anyway because it was the closest thing he was going to find.

It's not surprising that Zelich didn't seem to talk to others in the BDSM community online. Mainstream BDSM involves consent and he rejected that principle, and what he was "into" may have had all the trappings of BDSM but he was so extreme he didn't feel welcome in the community. That reply on the UK mailing list, "Are you serious?" to his request for permanent enslavement was probably a typical response.

And he no doubt knew that if he permanently enslaved someone who had second thoughts and wanted out, he wouldn't have been able to sell her to a master in the mainstream BDSM community because that guy, operating under the principles of consent, would quickly discover that the slave he bought was not someone willingly acting as a slave, but a true victim of kidnapping -- and he would alert LE. It only would have worked if he was able to find another guy as sick* as he was that he could actually trust, and I doubt he did.

*"Sick" as in forgoing consent. I'm not judging consensual BDSM relationships.

NotMeAnymore, during the planning to have him abduct you, what type of efforts do you remember him making to learn about your personal ties? Were you going to tell your family you were leaving willingly with him or were you not allowed to tell anyone you were leaving? Did he ask questions about who (family, friends, employer, landlord) would notice if you left? Would you have to take along your computer/cell phone, etc. to avoid leaving a searchable electronic trail as to where you'd gone? Would you be allowed to take your other possessions?

Feel free not to answer if that's too personal a question, but knowing how he went about having someone leave with him would be helpful.

I too have had some rather bleak thoughts about the motive behind keeping the corpses but mine took a slightly different route.
SZ used everyone he could(stalking, embezzle from his sister, victims ect.)
On that thought I contemplated how he could use Jenny's corpse (and possibly others-including Laura's corpse) for his own personal gain or satisfaction.
The thought occurred that it is possible that the corpses were kept to be used as proof for future victims to validate the "no turning back" rule SZ had.
In my opinion it is possible that SZ kidnapped Laura and showed her a frozen corpse to prove to Laura that there was no escape....... no turning back.

I've been lurking until today. So much information to process! I have much respect for JSR and NMA for their courage in sharing what they know. God bless both of you.

What do we know about SZ mother? I don't remember seeing much on her?

Oh my, from the article: "Beginning in 1995, he worked security at the Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield while off-duty."

How long did he work there? Are there any disciplinary actions in his file from there? As security, he had a 24/7 all access pass to rooms, rooms where single women stayed, which were sleeping & vulnerable. OMG Are there any unsolved cases of rape and/or assault or murder from that hotel? Any women that were assaulted and never filed a report? Flippin scary and mindblowing that he had that kind of access.

Also, now its coming to light why my dad said his nickname was "zilch". My dad retired in mid 90s, and already knew SZ was a 🤬🤬🤬.

I have had a hotel room broken into while a friend and I were sleeping and again while we were gone but we saw the hotel worker going through our suitcases. He jumped off the balcony window and ran away so we never knew who it was. It was in the Dominican Republic however. I have never felt safe in hotels since. When I saw SZ worked at a hotel that was a big red flag for me.

Okay = Here is a theory…and only a theory.

Knowing SZ’s thought process of wanting total domination, total ownership, and his threats of, “there is no going back” could it be possible that at some point he snapped? Could it be possible he drugged these women and put them in suitcases, took them out and froze them (still alive) believing he’d be able to thaw them at a later time for his pleasure (sadistic pleasure)?

Another theory…He had sex with them in the frozen state (possibly after death).

Just speculation!!! It seems like he wasn't really into this for the sex as much as he was focused on the CONQUEST and SADISM and DOMINANCE. He's been described as "extreme, rough and careless." I think we are looking at an extremely sick individual.

Remember when NMA said SZ was more into the appearance and how things looked? It's quite possible he froze that look so he could enjoy the visual over and over again. Early on I speculated that was why he left the toys on the victims.

Welcome notmeanymore! Thank you for your bravery and courage in sharing your story with us. Your story will reach out to and help more people than you will ever know. Thank you.

I think he kept them until they no longer wanted to participate and he was angry since he said there was no going back.

That is another important stone to unturn. There are so many in this case!!! I really don't think the FBI -- sorry to sound the pessimist alarm -- is going to pour the resources it takes into this case to unturn these stones. I know local law enforcement agencies won't either.

I also found online that SZ's Father's home was sold for $94k on/around April '03 (seller was a "personal representative deed" i.e. SZ).

His Dad died in (Oct 27) '02. We don't know at this time if his Dad lived there at the time of his death. I do believe it was posted on previous thread that his Dad is buried in Libertyville, IL. It would be interesting to learn more about the occupation status of the property during the time that SZ was personal representative (and before).

Was he POA while his Father was alive? What was his Father's health situation at the end of his life? Did he remain living at home or go into a nursing home / assisted living? Was the house vacant for any period of time prior to his Dad's death? If so, did the neighbors notice anything suspicious in the home?

West Allis police chief comments on SZ: http://www.cbs58.com/news/local-new...speaks-out-about-Steven-Zelich-266830861.html

Padgett believes the investigation into the complaints against Zelich was handled appropriately at the time. Adding that the Zelich case will not be damaging to this department. If anything, they'll learn from it.

ETA: And from another perspective: http://fox6now.com/2014/07/10/whats...documents-show-zelich-frequented-strip-clubs/

“What’s he doing in here? He’s in uniform, on duty,” Spot Lite owner E B said.

Documents obtained by FOX6 News show Zelich came for the dancers — and allegedly, he didn’t just want to watch the show.

Using the fire escape to enter the salon?
“When I went out to the fire escape, he was already walking up and I said ‘excuse me Officer, can I help you with something? Is there a problem?’ He was walking up the fire escape,” B said.

Bsays she told Zelich to make an appointment — and to use the front steps like everyone else.

:copcar::panic::panic::panic:

Just as their RECENT questioning of SZ and investigation of his apartment was handled appropriately?
