I hope they announce it. Thank you for the information, it's too bad these people don't file police reports (or post about them) I looked at Janesville recently and about died with the number of missing people on their pd page.Unfortunately, there have been no press releases, so I can't link to anything. Talking to the Sheriff who has be working on the case, through DNA research, genealogy research, and modern forensics, the child (boy) has been identified as Chester Breiney. Both birth mother and adopted parents have since passed away. There will be a funeral Mass for Chester, along with a proper burial spot in a cemetery. The church and the connected cemetery are donating the burial plot as well as any liturgy costs (Pastor fee, musician fee, etc.)
Wow, amazing. Good job investigators for not giving up trying to identify this poor boy. Rest in peace Chester.Unfortunately, there have been no press releases, so I can't link to anything. So his adoptive mother confessed to beating him to death and yet got to go on and live her life. Where's the justice in that.
What you did was fine and totally understandable - it was good to know even what you told us!Here's the obit. Sorry for not giving additional details right away, but I needed to wait until the Sheriff department made their announcement. Thank you all for your interest in this case and keeping the memory of young Chester alive.

The aforementioned obituary I saw said he had a daughter Nancy who was born in 1953, so most likely, it was her. I also, via Newspapers.com, found an obituary for someone I think was the father of Mrs. Myrtle Ritchie, who was living in Hawaii in the early 1960s. I wonder if Myrtle was being abused, and fled with Nancy to Hawaii? Nancy was still living in Hawaii as of 2010.The only Nancy Marie Ritchie I could find was born in 1949. This little girl missing in 1959 was only 6. Glad to hear you located her, so ultimately she was found then.
How right and appropriate that he's being remembered under his birth name. Sleep well, Chester.Seems like more information in this one: Solved: Wisconsin agencies crack 65-year-old cold case of child remains found in Mequon
Oh, wow, I didn't think there were any pictures of this little one. Good sleuthing, @victoriarobinson642 !View attachment 544196
I wonder if there's a better-scanned copy of this photo.
