Circumstances of Recovery: On Sunday, November 3, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m. the Price County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a passerby of a small fire along the roadway in the Township of Hackett, Price County, Wisconsin. Upon law enforcement and first responders extinguishing the fire, the remains of a partially burned female subject were located in the fire debris.

The Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, Nov. 12, said the victim was a female, 28, from Marshfield. A release shared on Facebook by the Marshfield Police Department identified the victim as Blanca Jesenia Hernandez Portocarrero.

Hernandez Portocarrero’s death was related to a domestic violence incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

HACKETT, Wis. (WFRV) – A 38-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with the death of 28-year-old Blanca J. Hernandez-Portocarrero, whose body was found on Nov. 3 along State Highway 13 in Hackett.

According to the Price County Sheriff’s Office, Hernandez-Portocarrero, of Marshfield, was identified after an autopsy, and her death is being investigated as a domestic violence incident believed to have occurred in Marshfield.

This was a domestic violence situation that happened south in Marshfield. Allegedly, the killer took her life there then drove the hour and 15 min-ish north, dumped her body at the 13/8 exchange, and set it on fire, while it was pouring rain. My friend was the first to come upon her and called it in. She said she knew something was wrong because “it was raining and the flames were so high.”
