AS TO THE AMENDED INFORMATION; Defendant entered a temporary plea of not guilty..

AS TO COUNTS 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6: Defendant changes plea to GUILTY. Defendant examined as to his plea, advised of his Constitutional rights and the maximum penalty. Court found that defendant freely, voluntarily and intelligently waived his rights. Plea questionnaire received and filed. Parties stipulate to the complaint as a factual basis to sustain defendant's plea. Court found defendant guilty as charged in the information and ordered a Judgment of Conviction be entered on the record. Defendant is advised he/she is a convicted felon and may not possess any firearms. Defendant is advised he/she is unable to vote in any election until civil rights are restored. Defendant further advised that if he/she is not a US citizen deportation is possible.

AS TO COUNT 2: Per plea negotiations and on the State's motion, Court ordered dismissed and read in.

Defendant is REMANDED into the custody of the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department.
Case is adjourned to 6-5-26 at 2:00 pm for sentencing.

A second man has been convicted in the brutal killing of a boy in Milwaukee -- a case which, in part, led to an expansion of Wisconsin missing children alerts.

Erik Mendoza, 18, pleaded guilty Monday to five charges, including first-degree intentional homicide and second-degree recklessly endangering safety. A sixth charge -- physical abuse of a child, repeated acts causing death -- was dismissed as part of a plea deal, but read into the court record for sentencing purposes.


Mendoza is scheduled to be sentenced June. 5. He faces the possibility of life in prison without parole. However, considering Mendoza's age and history of mental health, prosecutors are recommending he serve at least 50 years in prison before being eligible for release, FOX 11's trading partner WITI reports.
