- A second man has been convicted in the brutal killing of a boy in Milwaukee -- a case which, in part, led to an expansion of Wisconsin's missing children alerts.

Erik Mendoza, 18, pleaded guilty Monday to five charges, including first-degree intentional homicide and second-degree recklessly endangering safety. A sixth charge -- physical abuse of a child, repeated acts causing death -- was dismissed as part of a plea deal, but read into the court record for sentencing purposes.

Mendoza is scheduled to be sentenced June. 5. He faces the possibility of life in prison without parole. However, considering Mendoza's age and history of mental health, prosecutors are recommending he serve at least 50 years in prison before being eligible for release, FOX 11's trading partner WITI reports.
