Found Alive WI - Ryan Borgwardt, 45, Green Lake, 11 Aug 2024 *evidence that he faked his death and is alive in Eastern Europe*

I doubt they are scarred for life. For all we know, his family was relieved. Who knows what was going on in his life and their life? If he was living a fulfilling life in the bosom of his family, I doubt he would run away like this, IMO. Has he committed a crime? I didn't see any charges mentioned in the news articles.

Lots of people 'fake it'. I can't imagine that his kids aren't devastated, even if he wasn't the perfect father. So many conflicting emotions possible.

Very true but why not just leave VS fake your own death. Did he really think he would not get caught…..crazy.
Coward. Or maybe a narcissist that didn’t have empathy for his own family members and simply always saw them as extensions of himself. What an awful person to put your own children through the trauma of losing a parent at a young age. If I were the wife I would file for divorce and get sole custody in place on account of his abandonment. He’s obviously a sociopath to live this kind of double life and does not have the best interest of the kids in his heart. I wouldn’t want him to come back and have unsupervised contact.

It's a huge betrayal to his wife and kids. And it reeks of narcissism. He gets to wander off from any and all future obligations/life with his family, while they (since they think he is dead) deal with loss and probably try to focus on happy memories. Obviously since he set it up to look like he's dead, he had zero intention of trying to maintain or reestablish any kind of relationship with his kids. Ever. (Or wife. Or his parents, if still living. Or any of his siblings. Or any of his friends.)

What an absolute @$$&*^%.

MOO.

From this video of the LE press conference @16:50, the sheriff pleads to Ryan to reach out to either his family or the Sheriff's office. He said that there is a family that wants their Daddy back. (The Sheriff was fairly emotional at this point.)

The Sheriff was clearly upset. He so, so wanted to give closure to this family so he worked with many agencies and volunteer groups. And then he found out the Ryan faked his death. I think it crushed him. He cared so much about this family.

What a great press conference. It just shows how many people dedicate their time, over months, to do the right thing, to help bring closure, etc. Just wow. Kudos to the sheriff and all those who have helped this investigation. A huge thank you to all of them.

And a virtual hug for Ryan's family. They must be processing a lot.

That's awfully cold. For all we know, they weren't relieved. We don't know.

But we do know that kids can have lasting psychological repercussions from more "usual" losses of parental figures, particularly when it's time for them to have their own relationships. Things like divorces, even ones where the kids see both parents regularly; CPS situations where kids are removed from their homes; etc. Even if it resolves a bad situation, the change is still hard on young folks who are in the process of learning how to maintain mature relationships with others and forming their expectations, trust, and boundaries for those relationships.

So, yeah, I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that their dad choosing to abandon them out of nowhere, and making them think he was dead to avoid actually talking about his problems with his wife/family/others, might cause some issues for them regardless of what was going on at home.

He probably wanted the insurance money.

Where is the link to Eastern Europe coming from exactly? I've only seen Uzbekistan mentioned, and that's not Eastern Europe, Uzbekistan is in Asia...

Here's a map for clarification.

Is it possible he could be extradited from Uzbekistan (if that's where he ends up)?

JMVHO.

He has no way of getting the money if he's 'dead'.

His family could get the payout though, if his ruse had been successful.

Instead, nobody is getting anything because it'd be insurance fraud.

It was a new policy so I’m assuming the beneficiary is the ‘other woman’.

It might be a good financial cushion, if he didn’t get caught and if she could prove he was dead…..which he isn’t. lol

Hope that makes sense, I’m off to bed, it’s nearly 4:30. Night, night all.

Maybe the life insurance was for his wife and kids. Like he was of trying to take care of them. Just a thought.

Sometimes people walk away from their family/lives because of severe depression, but I don't see that here.

If he was messaging a "woman" and transferring money into foreign accounts, in my opinion, it was a scam. Then when he landed, either the woman wouldn't show up, or she did, but with the goal of romancing him until she could get her hands on the bank account.

This is all just my speculation, and I hope he's okay. Because when you're being scammed, you kind of an lose touch with reality. And there could have been very dangerous people on the other side of the scam.

What is strange about this case is faking his death. Maybe the life insurance was for his family and was his way of leaving them without having to feel a lot of guilt.

All my opinions only.

Maybe he is in trouble with a loan shark or mafia type situation. More likely he committed some crime and fled before he gets caught.

If he went missing for a reason like these, how would the email from the "woman" in Uzbekistan play in? It seems like he wasn't in a situation that "required" a quick disappearance, since he bought the life insurance in January 2024 and disappeared in August 2024. JMO.

Right he had this planned out most likely for over a year. So much thought put into it. Obviously in that time he had thought of what his disappearance would do to his family, absolutely cold hearted.
I’m seriously interested in seeing how this plays out……JMO

I agree with all of this.

I hope he is physically ok because this all sounds like quite a dangerous game.

Is it cowardice? I have to admit, there's something alluring in letting it all go and staring anew.

Agree. But, it is extraordinarily selfish.

As always, JMO.
