I agree about the mosque point, katydid. Doesn't WI have a lot of mosques, too? It seems like he would just attack Muslims if he were against Muslims.

The attacks on Sikhs after 9/11 were a long time ago now, and folks have learned a lot more about Islam (and Radical Islam) since those days. I don't know enough about subgroups of folks from WI to know what to think, though. I'm sure we have a few people in my area who would confuse the two religions on seeing one or the other. Not many, but I'm sure there are some.

I would bet that an average person would not know the difference even after 11 years. They see a turban and they make the connection to the Taliban/Muslims. If the Sikh community expressed a concern, it is because they faced this threat. :moo:

Dead suspect identified:

Sources identified the dead suspect as Wade Michael Page, who was at one time attached to the Fort Bragg Army installation in North Carolina. Local authorities have scheduled a 10 a.m. press conference, where more details may emerge about Page and what the FBI is treating as an act of domestic terrorism in the temple, in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek. Six people were killed and four wounded, including a police officer, before the man being identified as Page was shot dead by a police officer.

BBM - Sorry, but attacks against Sikhs, being mistaken for muslims, are ongoing even a decade later.

According to sources in the U.S. Army, Page enlisted in April 1992 and given a less-than-honorable discharge in October 1998. He served at Fort Bliss, Texas, in the psychological operations unit in 1994, and was last stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, attached to the psychological operations unit. The details of his discharge were not immediately clear.

Nobody has really seen him," neighbor Alma Rayes tells CBS News. "We heard here and there that they've been doing a lot of arguing, between him and another female, but I haven't seen him."

We have a one mosque in the area, that I know of. It's fairly close to where the suspect lived. I don't see how the average person would not realize that a temple and a mosque are different. IMO, it doesn't sound like this was overly planned out for 2 reasons. 1. It was stated that the temple would have many more people there around 11:30. 2. Oak creek PD has a quick response time. Was he targeting the priests?

When they said he had a lot of tattoes, they weren't kidding. :what:

Can any of you make out what they mean? One looks like a cross of some sort.
