Page, 40, served in the Army from April 1992 through October 1998. He was separated from the Army with a less than honorable discharge and had been demoted from sergeant to specialist during his service.

While in the Army Wade served as a sergeant, and later as a specialist based in Ft. Bliss in Texas and at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina. Wade's job was as a Hawk missile system repairman, and he then became a psychological operations specialist, defense official confirmed to ABC news.

The man suspected of shooting and killing six people at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1998 for 'patterns of misconduct,' including being drunk on duty, military sources said on Monday.

Wade Michael Page, who served in the military for six years but was never stationed overseas, was a psychological operations specialist and Hawk Missile System repairman who was last stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Page was the leader of a white supremacist band called End Apathy, and gave an interview to a music website declaring that he wanted to "end people's apathetic ways" and that "I was holding myself back," according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Page said he had been part of the white power movement since 2000.

"The inspiration was based on frustration that we have the potential to accomplish so much more as individuals and a society in whole," he said in the interview with Label 56.

I don't keep up enough with neo-Nazis to know whether race or religion matters more when it comes to their hatred of folks in that area!

Chances are, if it's a racist &%$^#@#! who did this, he just doesn't know the difference (or similarity) between all the turbanned folks, though, yeah.

It probably doesn't go much beyond the fact that they wear turbans, dress differently and don't look like him. The critical thinking is zero with this kind of person.

Hate Groups Grow as Racial Tipping Point Changes Demographics (ABC News)
---
"I think that what we're seeing is that hate groups, particularly white supremacist groups, are talking a lot about the fact that whites will soon be a minority in this country, that their goal at all costs is to preserve the white race in civilization, which spurs them to recruit more, and have more incendiary rhetoric," Marilyn Mayo, co-director of the Anti-Defamation League's Center on Extremism, said.

That a person of Page's ilk was responsible for the Sikh massacre is no suprise.

It's sad to say but we can expect more attacks from these groups in the near future.

This sort of racist swill is all over the internet and those who propagate it are being given aid and comfort by those who should know better, but profit from the dissemination of messages of hate.

This makes me sick and is getting way too close to home for me (as far as the possibility of actually having known the perp) as we left
Fort Bragg not long before then so we may have overlapped/crossed paths with the perp.

Lots of preliminary stuff at beginning of press conference, thanking agencies, saying Milwaukee is diverse, etc.

P.C.
10:25 initial call from Sikh temple
LE arrived within minutes. Officer came upon a victim in parking lot and went to render aid. Suspect ambushed him, shot 8-9 times with a handgun.
LE arriving on scene heard gunshots, didn't see down officer but saw suspect. Ordered to put up hands. LE treated as "active shooter." Rounds hit police cars. One officer shot perp and perp went down.
Called for a Par? check -- got no response from down officer. They found him but he waved them off and told them to go into the temple. But they took him to safety and aid.
Then they set up perimeter. Tactical situation. Other agencies came to help. They didn't know for sure that there weren't more in there. They did grid search and also went to all nearby houses and made sure residents were okay. Called in swat team. Cleared building, ready for the FBI to come in.
Brian Murphy is shot officer. He is now with his family at the hospital, resting. Other officers who shot will not be identified at this time because there will be officer-involved shooting investigations//
Passing out victim information sheets.
Announce deceased victims, I can't spell names. One is a female.
