Found Safe WI - SMF, 16, Beaver Dam, 2 Feb 2025 *3 mo's pregnant, believed to be with 40-year-old father of the baby*

Very disappointed to come back after the weekend away to learn no updates :( I had hoped to read SF was located safe and Day in custody. The longer this goes on I suspect the less likely they will be found. FWIW, I think the elderly missing woman who shares Gary's surname is completely unrelated to this case. Day is a pretty common surname IME.

I still wholeheartedly believe that Gary's mother is helping fund this abduction, the idea about prepaid credit cards or vanilla gift cards being used to pay for motels, fuel, etc. is a very good one IMO.

Come on SF, please wake up and realize how very much you DON'T know. For the sake of you and your child, slow down and think about this whole situation and how quickly it has spun out of control.

More than 25 Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation agents are working alongside Beaver Dam police officers in what has been described as an "all hands on deck" effort.

"We have been getting a lot of tips, and we’re following up on those tips," Beaver Dam Police Chief John Kreuziger said. "We thank the public for their help with the tips, and continue to report those tips to us, and then we’ll follow up on those tips. And the goal, at the end, is to bring her home."

You can almost hear it. He's just misunderstood.

As if.

Nope, he's a criminal. With another underage girl. Whom he has effectively abducted. After impregnating.

I hope he's taken into custody without further incident.

i have a feeling they will have to be found at some point in the coming weeks, maybe even quite soon, i just hope it will be in time for sophia to get necessary prenatal care if anything comes up in her pregnancy, and that he won’t turn violent until then. i imagine the moment of police closing in on them or the moment she decides to leave would be the riskiest moment.

hoping for good news soon.

Parents make a statement:

What an unexpected statement.
“Your value isn’t found in how much money you make?” - to a missing 16yo daughter who’s pregnant?
No “we love you?” No mention of the baby? No attempt at an understanding? They didn’t sign it and they are withholding their names? They released this with a picture of her with the Buccee’s beaver mascot (as opposed to a photo of her with them)? …

MOO: I find this all very revealing.

Yeah, it's odd... but maybe they are just deeply religious and/or this is something they have discussed privately before so it means something to her maybe?

That's a statement IMO that says they've (her and her parents) had this conversation before, about what she (their daughter) thinks is important. Being the mom of 6 girls, this was likely a social media conversation about what really matters, who's really your friends, etc. Especially the part about her value not being found in the affirmation of others. It's exactly the conversation countless parents have to have with kids that grow up with social media always being a thing.

Parents make a statement:

I find it a bit odd too. While it can have meaning to them and their daughter, there's no mention of loving her or even asking her to come home (I don't think so anyway). I would imagine every statement made by family in a case like this would include their love for the person and to reiterate the fact that they won't be punished if they come forward, and that anything can be worked out. This statement seems to lack any of that.

I just hope and pray she is found safe. Homicide is the number one cause of death for pregnant women. Or they disappear, like Kierra Coles.

Sophie has been gone for a week. We don’t know what to do other than wait and pray. It’s a torment. Her absence is felt every moment. There is so much on the horizon for you, Sophie. Hard things, yes, but GOOD things too. And your family is here for all of it. We aren’t going anywhere- we just need you to come back.

Your value isn’t found in how much money you make, how hard you work, or even the affirmation of others. Sophie, you are a soul made by God and fully known by God and entirely loved by God. You are a gift to us.

For all our family and friends: THANK YOU. Please don’t stop sharing. Sophie needs to be home. Please let law enforcement know if you think of anything that might be significant in getting her back.

Sorry if this was mentioned, but they couldn’t be traveling to terminate the pregnancy, right?

That's a possibility, but they'd already be back by now, if they were planning to return.

So I've been thinking and doing more research. I actually don't think he went back to his 'home' area. I think he went in the other direction --- towards places he used to live in his younger years. I would be looking in Idaho / Arizona / Washington. People are actively looking in Arkansas area....so he could possible fly under the radar easier if he went elsewhere.
Exactly my thoughts! Don't think he would go anywhere where authorities are looking. Not too difficult to find out what states to avoid, given media coverage. Lots of other states that you mentioned (Idaho, Arizona, Washington) where no one is looking. Very insightful thinking - including states he used to live in - he may even be familiar with places to hide out since there are so many remote areas in those states!

They've been gone for over a week now, could be in any US state aside from Alaska or Hawaii. Sadly, don't think he'll ever be caught unless there's a nationwide effort

I worry about this poor girl hiding and therefore not receiving prenatal care.

and not just hanging out with him, but having his child, which will make it much harder to cut ties and “move on” :(

i do very much believe things can still turn around for her and she can have a fulfilling life! but the situation she is in is scary and i can imagine once she gets out of it she will have a lot to process

It definitely is scary. She wont have to worry about cutting ties. The courts will do that for her. And her and her baby should end up snuggled up together with people who care about her . Then she will end up posting here or someplace like so ..
Even she knows he-is the faulty party.

that’s true! i was thinking more about emotional ties - when you have a child who is also the child of this guy. but maybe i’m thinking too far ahead, first things first sophia needs to be found safely!
