The trucker the two were with was not arrested or charged, he said. It wasn't immediately clear the circumstances of how they came to be with him, but Kreuziger said it appears he was not involved or knew about the circumstances between the two.

So where's the car that his mommy bought him?

I'm guessing they dumped or sold it pretty quickly. It was identified in the press, and they probably needed money.

Lovely to hear of a trucker PREVENTING and saving a girl from being trafficked. I'm sure there are plenty of truckers out there with hearts of gold who care about the abuse and mistreatment of women and girls, but too often, truckers only feature in true crime stories for one reason, and it's a bad one. I think it's very relevant that this trucker was a woman. Her hinky sense obviously pinged, big time.

This story is proof of how crucial truckers can be in helping to stop this kind of crime. They have a unique perspective due to their perpetual movement for employment, and they see and hear all kinds of things where they go.

I'm sure we're all relieved SF has been found but I wasn't aware trafficking was among the charges for her creepy "boyfriend".

This is one of the benefits of diversity in occupations, in this case specifically women in male-dominated fields. I wonder how many young girls could have been helped back in the heyday of hitchhiking if there were more women truckers back then.

He's travelling with a minor across state lines for sexual purposes. Her state of residence has an age of consent of 18. He's committed repeated, provable (pregnancy) violations of the Mann Act, which was specifically written to combat this kind of trafficking.

She may not want to return to her parents at this time.
I'm curious if CPS has been or will be brought in?
Foster care would be an option for her.
I would think and hope she was immediately hospitalized.

Thinking more about this,SF returning home now could be devastating for her recovery.
Her parents aren't equipped to deal with what got her to be attracted to GFD in the first place and then do the almost unthinkable and join forces with him, live with him, become pregnant then go on the run.
I don't think it would be advisable for any parents facing this with their daughter even if they were mental health professionals.

There's no way that it wouldn't become a destructive emotional mess which would help no one.
SF needs time and space and a few incredible non-judgmental advocates.
She's also facing serious decisions about her child.

Wild. I wonder why he wasn't charge with that then? He certainly should be if the law applies to this situation.

I would like to see it added on. It's as clear cut a case as I've seen for the Mann Act since on Websleuths. And it isn't just speculation, with a calender and her baby's DNA and her and his known movements out of state at the projected time of conception, it's watertight.

I'd like to see the creep charged with everything they can come up with that will stick. SO sick and tired of reading about cases of adult men preying on young girls, and basically getting a slap on the wrist.

I'd imagine if SF indicated she'd like to be placed in foster care, she would be listened to ?
Omo.

???
She may have rights through CPS and the courts as a minor not being emancipated from her parents?

She could file for emancipation from her parents and get govt help for her and the baby and not be under foster care?

Add a public defender to the list if SF doesn't want to go home and is still a minor.
She may have leeway as a 17 yr old pregnant minor even though not married.

Female intuition. Awesome news.

As a woman, I'm not surprised that a woman got her spidey senses tingling at the sight of a young pregnant girl and a gray-bearded man together at a truck stop near midnight. Not trying to be sexist, but as a small woman in a big city, I really do take notice of everything that seems "off" when I'm in public, as do most of my woman friends.

Very glad for the astute female trucker who thought things were sus and took it upon herself to initiate a conversation and follow-through.

I hope Sophia and her family can move forward well. I am concerned that she will be forever tied to Day since they will have a child together.

Imo, there are more good truckers than bad ones, just as there are more good people than bad people in the general population.

And, yes, they have a unique and valued perspective to share.
