I am surprised they have not located these two ... which is not good news in my opinion.
Where are you Sophia?

I am kinda shocked as well , as they are driving a buick are they not?

Hopefully this gets featured nationwide in any way possible so Sophia can be found! Sadly losing attention of the public as more time passes

Eventually there will be a slip up. I just hope it’s sooner rather than later.

Do Americans need a passport to enter Mexico?

If you cross on foot or at a green border area not sure if they check your passport. And if they do, I guess the Mexican authorities would need an official international arrest warrant which does not exist as far as I know.

Hannah Kobayashi was searched frantically in the US for weeks, noone bat an eye when she crossed into Mexico and nobody notified US authorities.

I believe they left for Mexico right away. They drove southbound. It is a huge country where living off the radar is easy. Living is affordable and actually you live like a king on an US salary and at least the bigger places have very decent medical and obstetric facilities. Many people speak at least some English and there are plenty of US expats. And if both or either knows a bit of Spanish, even easier.

What salary, though? All indications are this guy just sponged off his mother.

would LE be able to track GD’s spending?

and would they be able to track Sophia’s spending, and GD’s mom’s? (as i can imagine GD making them pay for things)

i’m curious what kind of options LE has in a case like this!

Sounds like a real winner.

That's probably an exaggeration anyway; Mexico might be cheaper than the US, but it's not THAT cheap. Monterey's not far from Brownsville and it's comparable to much of the US.

There's no way this guy has enough cash to live off of forever. Once he pulls out the plastic he's nailed.

I'm curious what GD's mother was thinking while her son was harboring a 16 yr old girl in her home for 5 months?
She knew all about his horrific criminal history with young women and babies/children.
IIRC: She did report him and/or her car missing when he took off to pick-up SF a month ago.

she didn't report her car missing because she confirms she purchased the car for her son.

Day's mother confirmed she bought her son a black Buick.
Charges filed against suspect in ongoing Amber Alert for 16-year-old

I am confident LE is keeping a close eye on Gary Day's known close associates in case he attempts to reach out to them for aid. ;)

There is no way that man had the sort of savings required to live on cash and on the run. MOO

In Wisconsin we have several abducted children believed to be in South America and once they cross that border, there’s never another thing to hear on the case. Leonelly Barron, Freyddy Gutierrez Rodriguez, ganem avila, Avril duenas Juarez… Given how few resources Wisconsin puts towards missing kids, I don't really know how they can handle international abductions.

Three are missing kids taken by adults. Freyddy unknown circumstances.

I almost wonder if they aren't "on the move" and he actually has her held up somewhere in a basement or a house in the boonies. Both of these scenarios would require an accomplice at least occasionally. MOO.

ETA: Fixed a typo.

i have the same feeling, i don’t think they’re on the move.

maybe he’s some kind of prepper with years worth of food? 🤔 i’m not sure if that’s a very realistic possibility but it came to mind haha.

still you would think that at some point they have to leave their hiding place. i wonder, would he try to have her have her baby without any help? and after that, would he want to stay in hiding with the baby until when, until sophia is 18?

i feel like there’s no way they won’t be found at some point. i just hope it’s sooner rather than later, and hopefully in the meantime sophia is relatively well and safe.

Based on what I've read about this guy I think he's too lazy and broke to have compiled a bunker stocked with supplies and nonperishable food. Maintaining something like this requires a lot of planning, money, resources, hard work, and a basic level of overall stability. MOO.

He looks completely nondescript. Even after having read this thread and seen the photos, I'm not sure I'd take any particular notice if I saw him shopping in a store. Of course, if he was accompanied by a much taller, pregnant girl, that would be another story.

But if he does have a hide away, I think he could venture out by himself without raising much, if any, suspicion.
