Back in February, charges were filed against Day in Dodge County [Wisconsin] for Abduction of a Child and Child Enticement.

He now also faces charges in Sarpy County [Nebraska], including several fugitive from justice counts.

This is great news! I had begun to give up hope they would be found. Praying hard for Sophia, who probably thinks their capture is the worst thing to ever happen to her. I am relieved she is now away from the influence of the real worst thing that has ever happened to her. May she receive all the support needed for her physical and emotional well being. Let the healing begin.

can't determine she and baby are in good health without an examination by a medical professional MOO. ERs are a good place to find those without an appointment Sounds as if once the health determination was made she was transported elsewhere so I doubt she was hospitalized in the sense that she was admitted.

On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at approximately 11:40pm, the Beaver Dam Police Department was notified that deputies of Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office responded to a tip of a possible sighting near Omaha, Nebraska of Sophia Franklin, the juvenile listed in the Amber Alert posted on February 3, 2025. Law enforcement made contact with a juvenile, who was with an adult male also matching the description of the male suspect she was identified leaving with, Gary Day. Their identities were positively confirmed and as a result, the suspect, Gary Day, was taken into custody. Sophia Franklin was taken to a secure facility to await re-unification with her family.

The Beaver Dam Police Department would like to thank the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office, as well as the numerous other law enforcement agencies that put forth the time and effort to locate Sophia. We would also like to thank the community members in multiple states for their awareness and willingness to share leads to follow to help bring Sophia safely home.

We have no idea what mind set SF is in or will be in relating to GFD going forward.

IIRC: one must be 18 to visit an inmate w/o a parent or guardian accompanying them.

I wouldn't have recognized GFD using the photos of him that had been published.
We have no idea the appearance of SF.
Interesting that the good samaritan was also out late at night, which was probably the couple's downfall being so few people are unless it's at a club.

Lovely to hear of a trucker PREVENTING and saving a girl from being trafficked. I'm sure there are plenty of truckers out there with hearts of gold who care about the abuse and mistreatment of women and girls, but too often, truckers only feature in true crime stories for one reason, and it's a bad one. I think it's very relevant that this trucker was a woman. Her hinky sense obviously pinged, big time.

This story is proof of how crucial truckers can be in helping to stop this kind of crime. They have a unique perspective due to their perpetual movement for employment, and they see and hear all kinds of things where they go.
