There is a huge difference between rioters and protesters. Those that want a change protest and get out there in the community including with police and try to figure things out, doing it the right way, without the crimes. Rioters do not want a change they are just looking for an excuse to commit crimes out in the open. Riots need to be condemned b/c the ones that do it are not for any cause. Rioters are the ones holding their community back b/c they are the criminals.

There should never be an excuse allowed that condones violence, rioting, burning of businesses/property/vehicles. It all boils down to respect --- for oneself and for others. Having values, morals, courtesy, and respect. It should be taught in EVERY home and school and it should be the example we, as individuals of all races and religions, impart.

MILWAUKEE LEADERS PLEA FOR CALM AMID UNREST FOLLOWING POLICE SHOOTING

City leaders pleaded for calm after violence erupted for several hours Saturday night on Milwaukee's north side following a man's fatal shooting by police earlier in the day, with the mayor imploring parents of anyone at the scene to "get them home right now" after at least four businesses burned and one officer was hurt.

"We understand the frustration people feel with the police community nationally. ... We have to go through the process of finding justice, but we have to be able to restore order to these neighborhoods," Hamilton said. "Please participate in restoring order to these neighborhoods."

Barrett said the 23-year-old man who died was stopped by police for "suspicious activity." Police said earlier that he was carrying a gun that had been stolen in a March burglary in suburban Waukesha.

"This stop took place because two officers ... saw suspicious activity," Barrett said. "There were 23 rounds in that gun that that officer was staring at. I want to make sure we don't lose any police officers in this community, either."

I first heard of it in the Michael Brown case. I believe the technology was used to record the shots fired in that case.

I don't know....I'm thinking the university is just being cautious?? The reporter also said Wisconsin Ave is open, but I don't know Milwaukee (other than occasional visits over the years) so not sure what that means.
