hoping that today brings calm not more violence and destruction of property in the name of peace and justice by some.

For those not familiar with the Watts riot, Milwaukee is like a picnic. It is so easy to say as a white person that there are no issues. As Paul Wellstone said, " We all do better when we all do better."

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watts_riots

Watts has changed demographically. It used to be 70% black. Now it is 70% Hispanic.

California Counts: Demographics changing in Watts, but challenges familiar

"Since then, Watts — a historically black community of roughly two square miles and home to about 40,000 residents — has grown more multiracial. About 70 percent of the people here are Latino, 28 percent are black or African American, and 2 percent are from other ethnic groups, according to 2013 population data gathered by the Watts Community Studio, a planning project sponsored by Los Angeles Councilman Joe Busc
aino."

So you cannot compare it to the troubles going on in Milwaukee at this time, in my opinion. Culturally, it is a different dynamic between cops and Hispanic families.

One of the Live Streams I watched, of the memorial-----the spokesman for the family is asking for EVERYONE to meet up on Tuesday. They are bussing in people, from Revcom, BLM, New BP, Nation Of Islam, to all 'come together' and have one large massive protest and put forth their demands.

It might be a big problem.

I am comparing it to the Watts riot of the 60's

Right. But I thought you were pointing out how 'much better' things were now in Watts. And talked about families and cops playing ball together, etc. And I am just saying that it is not the same demographics, which is one reason it is easier for community policing there now.

Good thing they already have the National Guard lined up. A curfew would be a good idea as well.

Even our extremely liberal mayor says that the still shows a gun. I tend to believe it to be true then. They still should release the footage ASAP.

Then the question would be, if the video shows what the police say it shows, why haven’t they already released it? I tend to believe it’s not true, and the video doesn’t look good for the police, or they would have released it already. I doubt it will be released anytime soon.

Flynn cautioned that the shooting was still under investigation and authorities were awaiting autopsy results, but said that, based on the silent video from the unidentified officer's body camera, the officer "certainly appeared to be within lawful bounds."

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/one-person-shot-in-milwaukee-during-2nd-night-of-unrest/

lynn declined to identify the officer who shot Smith but said he is black. The police chief said he wasn't sure what prompted the stop but described Smith's car as "behaving suspiciously."

After watching the officer's body camera footage, Flynn said the entire episode took about 25 seconds, from the start of the traffic stop until shots were fired. He said Smith ran "a few dozen feet" and turned toward the officer while holding a gun.

"It was in his hand. He was raising up with it," the chief said. He said the officer had told Smith to drop the gun and he did not do so. It was unclear how many rounds the officer fired. Smith was hit in the chest and arm, Flynn said.

So I guess there was so many rounds fired that he couldn’t even count them all on the video. If the video is silent, how does he know the officer told him to drop the gun. “Behaving suspiciously” = Driving While Black. The video must be bad for the cop, or they would release it.

Perhaps counting shots on a silent video was a little difficult.

Let's be honest... this being a justified shooting will not change how this community is reacting now, and going to react tonight and Tuesday night etc. We have learned that the facts are not what is important in these cases. imo

How can it be stated that blacks males are targeted for traffic stops, and then stated that they don't have cars to drive to jobs?? Am I missing something?
It just seems some think we shouldn't expect any more from the rioters because they are black, can't get jobs, oppressed, low income, or whatever. Isn't that rather demeaning? We do in fact have a black president , black police officers, black business owners, etc. I'm trying to understand the line of thinking but just don't.

Report of goings on last night. I hope i did not annoy anyone with my links to live feeds. I just felt so strongly after watching the first night{and it was way worse} that i wanted to share my horror of what was going on. I am hoping Tuesday will be peaceful but have the feeling it will be much worse due to outsiders coming into town.Stay safe my friends.

My opinion on this is that it is not really a race issue. It is a class/poverty issue. It just so happens that in many parts of America it seems to be minorities that make up a large portion of the lower class. The question is why? That is where the frustration comes from....

I think we can all agree that in western society, especially America, the rich keep getting richer, driving a bigger and bigger wedge between classes. That is why the poorest of us all feel "oppressed". Socialism is not going to fix the problem. People do not need hand outs, they are all fully capable of taking care of themselves but they do need an even playing field and for that to happen the rich need to stop making each other richer at the expense of the poor. This turns my stomach. All we can do is pray/wish no harm comes out of this, however given the fact people are being bused in, idk. Today LE and others are with their family and friends, will these same people be with us Wednesday? It makes me nervous.

Should a protest turn into a riot, I truly hope our officers will not be afraid to protect themselves. And I honestly mean exactly what I am saying, no person should be afraid to protect oneself. These are brave people going into work, and a dangerous situation. And please let no young ones be outside, it would be fine with me if parents locked their children in a bedroom for the night.

This is the recorded feed from the first night. It is on EXE 414's site. mobile record 674 views 10th down on right if this link does not go straight there. Warning -Graphic Language- but it shows the looting and burning of the BP gas station .This was not shown on tv and will give you a feel for how out of control things were.

Edited to add-big trouble starts around 20min. mark and a reminder -all the gunshots you hear-none from the police.

And while we are WASTING all of these officers time by babysitting the tantrums of the 'poor oppressed abused CRIMINAL element', lets all think about the children being molested, beat, raped, killed and no officers available to help them because of the 'famewhores' that want to be on tv looking cool.

My solution: Round em up, take em to a deserted island, drop em off and let em survive amongst each other for a year. One phone to call 911 and ask for help, lets see how long it takes for them to realize they NEED the police. Over it. Done. Stick a fork in me. I'll gladly stand up and say... WRITE THESE 'people' (and i use the term loosely' off. Time to clean house the old fashioned way. TALKING doesn't work, FREE BENEFITS don't work, a BLACK PRESIDENT doesn't work.

Yes, I did post the article that showed some blacks. But, Latinos are second in being killed by police. That does not sound positive, does it?

Actually, countries with a social net are the ones where poor have mobility. The myth of moving up in America is just that. A myth.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/05/us/harder-for-americans-to-rise-from-lower-rungs.html?_r=0

http://money.cnn.com/2013/12/09/news/economy/america-economic-mobility/

http://www.politifact.com/punditfac...ttner/it-easier-obtain-american-dream-europe/

Times article that examined five studies about the United States' lagging economic mobility identified the depth of American poverty as one culprit, as the country has a "thinner safety net" than other wealthy nations.
