Do you think she is quilty? :)
Already?

Based on what I have seen & read thus far, YES, I do think she is guilty. However, I understand I have only one side of the story & even that is without all the facts. If evidence is presented that convince s me she didnt do it, I will be the first to say I got it wrong.

I think JB will try and spin a new and fantastic tale through his cross examination of LE (ala the OJ trial). I can hear it now. "If the duct tape don't fit, you must acquit" He'll claim gross negligence on CSI's part and contamination off all the physical evidence rendering it inadmissible. I'm sure that they are combing over the news footage from the crime scene looking for some poor CSI tech that touched something without a glove on. It's their only option. The Hail Mary legal defense. Maybe they'll find a tape of YM or JA from years ago making some sexist comments and they can convince the jury that LE was out to frame Casey. Maybe JB will ask for a change of venue where Ito can oversee the trial. One thing I am certain of. If she's convicted, she'll claim that JB was "touching" her inappropriately all this time and try and get the judge to declare a mistrail. Just my humble rambling opinion (JMHRO)

No. I don't think most people have any intention of weighing any facts. I believe the majority of our contrymen truly believe that if she got arrested and charged she is guilty. So many untruths are being peddled - but it they thrill - they are believed.

Lots of gossip, imagination. Pretty screwy.

when all this was going on was she still married to ridge or had she moved on to thorne?

 It's a good thing I didn't wasn't drinking Diet Coke or it would have ended up all over the screen!!

If she changes her story, SAO has to anticipate that and have all lines of prosecution available based on that...the defense knows where the SAO is coming from, so in effect, the defense could have an advantage if they sprung a story and SAO isn't ready.

But other than aliens and witchcraft, KC & Co have already spread every one of them on the table...

If she was going to go for the HR...she would almost have to gt up there and testify.. the jusry certainly would be interested in hearing what she said...but the backfire potential is enomorous, because the cross would be brutal. And they would have her up there for hours, going thru every lie, evidence etc...so even Meryl Streep couldn't pull that off.

I predict minimum 20 years. But I am really certain, LPWOP. Jury isnt gonna buy it...old ladies wont be sympathetic to her, young women with kids wont, married middle age guys like me some who have Gkids and daughters that age who HAVENT done that wont buy it...old men won't buy it, the generations before us, this was unheard of, the single parents wont buy it because they raise their kids without killing them..the rich wont buy it because they're repulsed by her actions when she had so many options besides this...

so unless shes gonna have John Couey, Susan Smith, etc and the sort on the jury, shes done.

Lets see ..... how much time did the following get?

  • Several mothers that drowned their kids
  • The minister's wife in TN who shot her husband in the back of the head ... (she has her kinds back I think)
Well, for one, Susan Smith is still in prison and will be until at least 2024. MOO

I wouldn't be surprised.

I can't imagine her beating this rap. I just can't. The 31 days of not reporting this child missing would be enough for me personally.

If this goes to trial - its going to be a spectacular to remember for sure.

Maybe they will just plead it and spare the nation.

Yiks - I heard one of the talking heads saying they charged her with DP. If not - then you can't believe ANYTHING said about this case.

I certainly do not mean to offend - and you shouldn't be. There are tons of opinions on this case and not all sympathetic to you!

Why would anyone get offended over differing opinions anyway. People shouldn't get so carried away. Shouldn't get so invested in their own beliefs.

No one knows how this will turn out.

I can see 30 years of prison for not reporting a child missing for 31 days. That just blows me away.

I am not personally offended by what you said, I am merely pointing out that she has not been charged with frivolous crimes. All the charges except the murder charge are things she has been caught doing..such as stealing Amy's checks and cashing them, she was caught on camera doing that. Forget about all the checks and money she stole from her own family, if they went after her for those charges they would be trying her for the next 5 years. She lied to LE, and was caught and admitted to those lies.

The charges of child neglect are appropriate because she "states" that she gave her child to a nanny who didn't give her back and she did not report that for 31 days, that in and of itself is neglect. After they got the forensics back they charged her with murder, since they felt they could prove that Caylee was murdered even without her body...now that they have her body they can state without a doubt that Caylee is dead and that she was murdered. Everything they have charged her with is appropriate.

I am not afraid of differing opinions, I just didn't think that implying that inmate casey was being charged with made-up crimes was a fair accusation.

Of course the outcome of this case is in the future and no one can be sure of what is to come.

I appreciate your comments and the role of devils advocate..

but mary Winkler claimed abuse by her spouse..who she killed..so unless Caylee was abusing her, that probably wont work.

And Andrea yates..long prior medical history regarding her pyschosis and there was quite alot of concern about her prior to killing her kids that she may do that..that was why I put in my post that she has no previous documentation for signs of possibile murderer, and that wont fly even if she proves LA AND GA were both the fathers...

Theres just never been alot (if any) cases where a mother (not father, and folks, the bond of a mother who had bore her child is considered much stronger than that of a father and child) walked on these charges. theyre too emotionally based, and IMO a jury is going to blame her and hold her accountable for it...even if she didnt..because it was HER job to protect this child..she was the last to see her...and she hasnt offered jack in terms of proof anyone had her after she "left" "lost"her.

Even if she isn't found guilty of Count 1, it still looks like 30 to life for Count 2 or 3, to me, but what do I know?

Count 1
782.04 Murder (1) (a) The unlawful killing of a human being: 1. When perpetrated from a premeditated design to effect the death of the person killed or any human being;

Count 2
827.03 Abuse, aggravated abuse, and neglect of a child; penalties. (2) "Aggravated child abuse" occurs when a person:
(a) Commits aggravated battery on a child;
(b) Willfully tortures, maliciously punishes, or willfully and unlawfully cages a child; or
(c) Knowingly or willfully abuses a child and in so doing causes great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement to the child.
A person who commits aggravated child abuse commits a felony of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

775.082 Penalty for a felony of the first degree, by a term of imprisonment not exceeding 30 years or, when specifically provided by statute, by imprisonment for a term of years not exceeding life imprisonment;
775.083 Fine $10,000, when the conviction is of a felony of the first or second degree.
775.084 Penalty enhancement for violent/habitual offenders.

Count 3
782.07 Manslaughter; aggravated manslaughter of an elderly person or disabled adult; aggravated manslaughter of a child; aggravated manslaughter of an officer, a firefighter, an emergency medical technician, or a paramedic.--
(3) A person who causes the death of any person under the age of 18 by culpable negligence under s. 827.03(3) commits aggravated manslaughter of a child, a felony of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

827.03 Abuse, aggravated abuse, and neglect of a child; penalties.-- 3)(a) "Neglect of a child" means:
1. A caregiver's failure or omission to provide a child with the care, supervision, and services necessary to maintain the child's physical and mental health, including, but not limited to, food, nutrition, clothing, shelter, supervision, medicine, and medical services that a prudent person would consider essential for the well-being of the child; or
2. A caregiver's failure to make a reasonable effort to protect a child from abuse, neglect, or exploitation by another person.
Neglect of a child may be based on repeated conduct or on a single incident or omission that results in, or could reasonably be expected to result in, serious physical or mental injury, or a substantial risk of death, to a child.
(b) A person who willfully or by culpable negligence neglects a child and in so doing causes great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement to the child commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
(c) A person who willfully or by culpable negligence neglects a child without causing great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement to the child commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

I dunno, but the story shes made up now sucks...so she may wanna go in at halftime and make adjustments.

I think any defense at this point is moot.

If she plea's insanity, theres no proof of her ever seeking help or being diagnosed before hand.

If she plea's accidential, which I think is most likely, the SAO is going to villify her why she never said anything despite MANY offers...stuck with the lies...never took the plea deal offered...(back in Aug) never led them to the body when the "gig" was up and she was charged with murder...

If she plea's Zanny, it will be the quickiest verdict returned in history, I doubt they'll even recess. That story will pi*s of the jurors because they tried to make them look like morons believing that..

If she says no time, cause place of death, if Northern CA liberals saw thru that and gave ole SP the DP, that wont work..people in the south (and all over) are by and large very law abiding conservative type folks who don't take well to mothers killing their babies.

If she plea's incest, or sexual abuse, why didnt she abort and why did she wait til almost her 3rd BDay to kill her? If she goes that road, she better have substansial prrof of counseling, etc...and even then it won't work, because theres ppl who can testify she was a normal good mother....not anti-Caylee, etc until around March....

If she goes with the Petersen defense, 'some evil person took my child and did this" then how did they use her car too/

Anyway you slice it...hes got to plead guilty and ask leniency.

JB cannot sit a jury of 12 people who one of which will buy any of those stories. Where could you find a jury of people where one would say, yea, i guess caylee had it coming to her, i can see it that way...poor KC..

That wont happen, the bigshot experts had to have gotten JB to agree not to in order for them to take the case, as they want their mugs on TV as much as possible, and a plea doesnt get the experts anywhere...

The proof in the pudding will come if you see the fleas jumping off the dog...then he pleaded it out...but right now, hes got jury consultants testing the scenario, i give him props for keeping it close to the vest, he will see at trial time what the public thinks and will buy and thats what he will deliver in his opening statement....
Great post! She's a goner IMO.

Somewhat, but not totally. I just find it ignorant to see people talking about guilt, insanity, incest, lousy parents, etc., etc. I just sort of don't want to discuss/talk in that vein of business. But not much else to talk about here.

Maybe you should read the doc dumps first and then come back and post. Let's see how pro-KC you'll be then.

Though a plea bargaining would save the State a lot of money, I do hope this case makes it to trial so I can see how the defense plays this out. Either way, I'll be glued to my t.v when sentencing is handed down.

IF and its a big IF they were to let her off on manslaughter, they'd convict her for neglect..she's still gonna get alot of time...

No one on this earth can explain what she did with her..whether she killed her or not...the neglect would be very easy IMO because she cannot prove EITHER zanny story, or that there is a zanny, or anything about a zanny...so what in the hell happened at the last point she ever laid eyes on her daughter? The indisputable fact is, only she knows...she's never told the truth about it, and she was responsible as a parent to protect her.

I have to remind myself, while no verdict is fair for what she did, 21 years in prison would be 7 years for every year Caylee was on this earth...I know, not much...

Yeah, kinda a shame she has had such a revolving door. Me, I would have loved to have seen her booked, charged, cuffed & carted off to the middle east in a not to kind country, in a not to kind prison. No snacks, no bottled water, not even a metal cot. Just dirt, a pee jar & darkness. :behindbar
Am I allowed to laugh?
