Will March 19 'Supermoon' Trigger Natural Disasters?

I'll be listening to the scanners tonight and hiding. My plans to go out of town were thwarted.

Hi every1

I look forward to the super moon tonite...

I am wiccan, and I use the full moon to recharge my spiritual batteries, for crafting magick, spells, for chanting, prayers, etc..

the bigger the moon the stronger my crafting, magick and prayers are..its also a good time for me to start planting my flower and veggie seeds so they grow stronger...jmo

Im going to go out side tonite in my back yard, light a small fire in my fire pit outside, drink wine, and thank the gods/goddesses for my many blessings and pray for peace in the world and blessings for my family , freinds and for strength for the people of japan..

Hi Imawitch, DD and I have similar plans this evening. My belief structure is earthbased as well, although I haven't practiced in several years, I still honor the seasons and moon cycles.

Plan to enjoy the fullness and do a little recharging and grounding myself tonight.

Rain for a week here. I would love to see it... pictures just aren't the same.

I just asked my friend who lives in a nursing home if the nurses and aides seem to think a full moon causes the patients to act up more, and she said yes, they definitely notice a difference in them. Tonight should be interesting, if so, lol.

lol, my mom worked in a psych facility many years ago. She says this old myth is NOT a myth but a fact.

There would be a marked and very trackable increase in incidents during full moons.

After that she spent a number of years working at a general hospital, there were always more bizzare cases during full moons and the number of cases overall seen in the ER were always higher during full moons.

I see the bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
I see bad times today.

Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.

I hear hurricanes a-blowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.

Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

March 16, 2011: Mark your calendar. On March 19th, a full Moon of rare size and beauty will rise in the east at sunset. It's a super "perigee moon"--the biggest in almost 20 years.

"The last full Moon so big and close to Earth occurred in March of 1993," says Geoff Chester of the US Naval Observatory in Washington DC. "I'd say it's worth a look."

Full Moons vary in size because of the oval shape of the Moon's orbit. It is an ellipse with one side (perigee) about 50,000 km closer to Earth than the other (apogee): diagram. Nearby perigee moons are about 14% bigger and 30% brighter than lesser moons that occur on the apogee side of the Moon's orbit

In Atlanta GA we had a BLIZZARD March 11 1993... thunder lightning the works!
hmm... I do wonder...

I remember that blizzard... It struck us on Saturday March 13, 1993... (my birthday)... It was a good 3 feet of snow.

It's cloudy here tonight. :(

It's rising here and looks very cool, there is a thin layer of clouds creating a spooky effect. Yes I howled at it, lol.

Of course it's a fact. Ask any bartender. ;)

That's kind of how it looks here. The wind is blowing now so it's partly cloudy but I wish it would have been clearer tonight!

Gorgeous moon here tonight...and so far no disturbances.

Also, the stars are so bright! I wonder if that is due to the beautiful clear day, or if that is also enhanced by the moonlight.

Soo it had been cloudy this evening as we BBQ'd burgers on the grille at 7:30 tonight and I thought, "self" we might not see this big supermoon tonight.

Darkness fell at 7:45 or so and at 8:30, I looked out the sliding glass door toward the east. Low and behold there was a brightly glowing object in the sky. I thought wow, I've never seen a moon so bright, I was awestruck.

So okkk, I suppose the condo association put a globe nightlight in the open yard and I've missed it the whole last year. Still the bright glowing nightlight put me in awe of the Supermoon for about 10 minutes.

Sign me,

That moon is huge! It isn't esp bright here but it is big.

I noticed last month the full moons seemed brighter than usual. Wish it was brighter here tonight.

LOL!!!!! Too funny. The clouds are moving in here, too, so it isn't as bright as last night, but it is huge by comparison!
