Just dug something up from the past - early written Q&A stuff from the family's early pressers. Family answered questions that press e-mailed to them. Mentions Lithia Motors donations for the Kyron t-shirts. ... Nice.

4. We were wondering about the t-shirts the family wore at the press conference yesterday – were they made and designed by the family?

It was a collaboration of efforts joining Taylor Made Printing and Lithia Motors LAD advertising agency to design, print, and ship the T-Shirts to the family. All labor and materials were donated.

I see the url has ithe article identified as an editorial, but the site says its a cover story. I wonder if it was written as an editorial, which would kind of explain the tone, and someone decided that it would make a great cover story. Other articles about the case have "news" in the url. Just an observation...

The more lurid details of this article, along with other details we've learned about Desiree and Kaine's life, are reasons why I believe it's a bad idea for Desiree and Kaine to speak out against Terri in the way they have.

Terri has been married three times. Desiree has been married three times. Terri has two children by two different men. Desiree has two children by two different men. There has been a lot of speculation about how Terri lost weight and bulked up for her bodybuilding contest. Now, because of this article, there will be speculation about which non-FDA approved substance/drug caused kidney failure in Desiree (often non-FDA approved weight loss products wreak havoc on the body, oh, the irony) and required her to give up Kyron. There are other similarities, but I'll stop there.

By Desiree and Kaine putting the lurid details of Terri's life out for public consumption, and by speculating without any basis in or knowledge of facts, I believe they've invited it into their own lives.

Without a doubt, they should advocate for their son, but there are ways to do that while continuing to rise above the fray. This is not meant as a bash of either of the bio parents, but if people are wondering why there is so much focus on the lurid details of this case, the bio parents bear some of the responsibility, IMHO. When Terri's skeletons were dragged out of the closet, and yet the bio parents refused to reveal their own, it made people curious. That curiosity has nearly superseded interest in Kyron, which is sad and depressing, IMHO.

Sorry to those who find the following expression of dismay annoying but - wow, just wow. No profile whatsoever of the most important person in this reallife drama playing out in the headlines - adorable Kyron Horman.

I'm with you BeanE - this "reporter" should be ashamed for claiming that title. Kyron is the story, all other players in this real life psychodrama are supporting in nature. The unfortunate star of this story was barely mentioned. Shameful.

nope, not one item of kyron.

We do however learn about the reporters pooping in the neighbor's yard. And kaine target practices for hours on end while, i assume, baby k is napping?

Wth??

I liked that we learned about how Desiree & Tony met.

I also did not "officially" know that Desiree has been married 3 times. Nor did I know she was denied custody by both of her sons' fathers, and fought neither of them in court for custody. (I would like to know more about all of that. I'm sure there's a reason, but I don't completely understand why a mom would give up custody rights to both children to begin with. And then to choose not to fight the fathers in court over custody ... perhaps it was because Desiree eventually felt satisfied with the informal parenting plans arranged, and the custody arrangements for her sons met with her approval and made her sons happy?)

Desiree's story, whatever it is, seems quite poignant.

I really wish we could get to the truth of the matter and end speculation here. On the other hand, this article may indicate we will see the truth soon - IMO this story - with it's juicy tidbits on Desiree - could force out the truth. Might actually be the objective.

Again, no sources, not even unnamed, for this detail on Desiree. :furious: Sounds like her friends/acquaintences are talking. JHMO

She went to Canada for treatment, but again has declined to give specifics. When she returned to Oregon, she tried to regain custody of Kyron and an older son from her first marriage. She was denied by Kaine and the other father, and never fought their decision in court.

Yes, I agree the article was written in a way to permit speculation of something illicit. That was my point, and I wanted to point out that such speculation would invariably happen. Sometimes it's far better to provide the full truth rather than to insinuate like this and fling open the door. :(

I'll only add that that the non-FDA approved drug was not tylenol or anything over-the-counter that had FDA approval at the time.

And good point is made that it's possible Desiree had genetically impaired kidneys that made them more susceptible to this sort of thing.

Up to now I'd always suspected it was related to her pregnancy.

I'm sure being pregnant didn't help her kidneys. I'm surprised Kyron wasn't affected by the kidney failure (assuming she took the drug prior to pregnancy and the kidneys failure was in progress).

Me too. Remember when she said Kyron saved her life long ago? I think that's when I came to think it was during her pregnancy.

Would someone please remind me when Kaine got custody of Kyron? Is it when Desiree left for Canada or before? TIA

Don't think I sent off an e-mail to Mr. Pitkin at [email protected] expressing my thoughts on his so-called-helpful-article.

My daughter suffered renal damage during her pregnancy and it didn't affect the baby. She wasn't in renal failure, however.

I wonder if the drug she took was approved for use in Canada, and that's why she went there for treatment (perhaps her doc felt they would have more experience in dealing with its side effects ... I know, grasping at straws here lol).

Correct me IF I am wrong but I don't recall Kaine or Desiree ever making reference to Terri's three marriages or the bodybuilding contest as being the reason they feel and believe she is connected to Kyron's disappearance...JMO

Man this article has me fired up! I am vowing now to never go on the WW website again, they are useless and now I see why Kaine banned them from the one meeting.

What is with the pics? None of Kyron and the ones of Kaine and Desiree are clearly attention grabbing photos. And "the obsessed" lady's pic looks like it came straight from a motorcycle magazine! WTH!

I am so fuming right now!! This part of the article really pi$$ed me off - "When the boy was 2 years old, Desiree suffered kidney failure" THE BOY??? The boy's name is KYRON and HE should be the one and only focus of this article.

Also what does is matter what non-FDA approved drug Desiree was taken? What does it matter if Kaine starting seeing Terri before he was divorced from Desiree? What does it matter that "the obsessed" lady is obsessed with this case? What does it matter how Tony & Desiree met? What does it matter that a reporter used the neighbors yard as a bathroom?

THE ONLY THING THAT SHOULD MATTER IS FINDING KYRON & BRINGING HIM HOME!!

Sorry for the rant

We are getting into victim bashing here. Use MSM as your source and guide. Do not go beyond that. If I continue to get alerts I will have no choice but to close the thread.

If you can't link to MSM as your source of information don't go there.

Unfortunately BeanE, it does seem sometimes that Kyron has become little other than the pawn of this mystery.

I don't think it's intentional on the parents' or investigator's part that this is happening. However, so long as parents and investigators' focus remains on Terri (murder-for-hire, divorce, sexting, mistrust of step-mom by bio-mom etc.) it does seems the investigation leaks are pointing strongly to Kyron being a pawn in this family's dynamic.

A picture of Kyron with every story should be a minimal ethical requirement.

I be some well-worded letters to the editors of the WW would go a long way towards making sure they never print another article about this case without a picture of the sweet little boy in the center of the muck. :snooty:

Might get after that myself, in fact.

JMHO

IMHO.. I'm glad that sweet little boy's picture was left out of the center of the muck in that article..

Do we have a MSM link that states that Desiree has been married 3 times?

Desiree referred to one of Terri's past marriages, saying Terri wouldn't tell the truth about it, but there was never any elaboration or facts given to back up why Desiree believed Terri was lying about whatever. Desiree has used several incidents of Terri lying in the past, or incidents where she believe Terri lied, as these are up for debate, as proof of what a liar she is and yes, Desiree tied it to how Terri is lying about her involvement in Kyron's disappearance.

Kaine speculated recently about Terri's weight loss for the body building competition. He said to his knowledge she wasn't on anything illegal, but the inference was clear. In this case, there wasn't a direct tie to whatever happened to Kyron, but he is casting aspersions on her character to boost his belief of her involvement, even though he readily admitted he never saw her take anything illegal.

These comments were sandwiched in between others directly related to the investigation, so IMHO, they are using these peripheral details to support their conclusion.

I don't know how to link, but it's in the article being discussed.

BBM..I respectfully disagree..

You stated..Desiree referred to one of Terri's past marriages, saying Terri wouldn't tell the truth about it"..
My understanding was/is Desiree was referring to Terri and Kaine's relationship and how it began...NOT any of her previous marriages...JMO
