We are mid-state (CT) and got hammered. It's still snowing. DH is out trying to clear our cars and he is waist deep in it lol. They haven't even plowed the road yet.

LOL we just watched our neighbor trying to get her dog to go potty in it, she was waist deep too and had to pick the dog up!

I saw that CT got hammered. Do you guys have a driving ban too? Our road is cleared, they have been out all night going back and forth.

We CAN'T drive lol...still blowing snow and 3 feet on the road. DH is trying to clear the cars. He abandoned the broom and is using the snow shovel. We have two steps up to our porch, but you can't see the steps at all. DS lasted about 10 minutes, came inside and took a warm shower lol...

ETA - I just thank God we still have power :) OMG, they are predicting MORE snow next weekend....

ETA again - I am now missing the 110 degrees in Bakersfield...

I believe the governor still is prohibiting people from driving on highways and state roads. There are also parking bans. No one can drive in our area since the roads are impassible and plows have not been here since yesterday morning.

Please be careful shoveling the snow. Many people overdo it and hurt themselves or worse have a heart attack.

Hubby does 15 minutes shoveling, 15 minutes resting etc. Family takes turns but no one shovels for very long even if it isn't so cold outside.

When we shovel the snow for the dogs to do their business outside, we have to shovel a circular area for the 'constipation dance'. It's like the dogs have to walk the poop out of their system.

I just mentioned the heart attack thingy to DH and he poo, pooed me. But he is now in the house, too much snow...

Doesn't it seem strange to say we got off easy with only 10 inches of snow?

It sure does. If it were a work day, I would surely be singing a different tune!

Speaking of dogs. Does anyone have any tricks for getting small dogs to do their business outside in the snow (or even rain)?

My lab mix LOVEs the snow. The two mini-doxies (one mine, one my sister's) are the challenge. They are difficult in good weather- in bad weather they just pull and pull toward the door to get back in. We shoveled a path and area for them but they hate it. They are about as low to the ground as you can get, so I'm sure that's part of it.

We had a Rottie, she died last year, but she loved the snow. We had only been here one winter but she loved it. Booger, the talking cat, still looks for her outside. She, on the other hand, won't venture into the snow lol.

You might try walking them on a leash in a cleared area.

Storm blankets Northeast with 1 to 3 feet of snow

http://www.centurylink.net/news/rea...ass&action=3&lang=en&_LT=UNLC_USNWU00L3_UNEWS

BOSTON (AP) — A howling storm across the Northeast left the New York-to-Boston corridor shrouded in 1 to 3 feet of snow Saturday, stranding motorists on highways overnight and piling up drifts so high that some homeowners couldn't get their doors open. More than 650,000 homes and businesses were left without electricity.

At least three deaths in the U.S. were blamed on the wind-whipped snowstorm, including that of a New York man killed when the tractor he was using to plow his driveway ran off the edge of the road.

More than 38 inches of snow fell in Milford, Conn., and an 82 mph gust was recorded in nearby Westport. Areas of southeastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire got at least 2 feet of snow, with more falling. Portland, Maine, received 29.3 inches, breaking the record set in 1979.............more at link.......

Yikes....82 mile an hour wind is equal to an F-1 tornado!

Thanks!

Have you seen the kitty yet, Gardenlady? If not, I imagine he sensed the storm coming and found a hiding place somewhere....I've taken care of ferals before and while no snow danger here, when storms came in they would disappear for a couple of days and then come back when it was over to eat...

I have not seen him yet, and no sign he came by for any food. He probably has a good place to stay sheltered considering he has come through several winters, so I'm trying not to worry about him too much. I'm going to leave the boxes out with food though, and keep watching for his little prints. :)

I have a flat driveway. Not long at all.. maybe 40-50 length feet by 7-8 foot wide. Does anyone know what a fair price is to plow a driveway that size? Daughters boyfriend called someone in the next town and he quoted 200 dollars. Not going for that price. Think that person is taking advantage of the situations. Really, It would only take him about 15 minutes and hubby would do around the cars. Don't want him to do it especially since I read a 49 year old man died this morning from a heart attach and they could not get an ambulance to him. Needed emergency vehicle and a sled. I guess they got there to late. Very Sad. Hubby is 61. Plows still have not come through here as of yet. Not expecting them soon

What do you all think. I think it is highway robbery.
