Woman Gives Birth To Octuplets II

yes,it's about time! the tups are almost one yr old.I just wonder what took them so long, but I guess these kinds of investigations take time.

..and I saw Nadya awhile back saying Dr K should never have been punished,b/c based on her past history (of pregnancy rates) he did nothing wrong.WELL,that is not for her to say!He clearly went above the guidelines, plain and simple.

BBM

She had six fricking kids already!!!! Past history?!!! What the hades!!! It appears she was doing just fine before this mess!! :furious:

I just now 'googled' the Christmas photo for the first time.

Oh, my, God.

I thought one of her kids said; "Ummmm, you said we did it for the show. :waitasec:

LOL!!!

Could you imagine being a couple who finds out a mistake was made and you got one of that woman's eggs implanted in you?
or worse yet, running across a pic of one of the tups and thinking 'boy that kid sure does bear a striking resemblance to ....' (major freak-out!!!!)

That's quite a photo, isn't it? Maybe it's a good thing the older children weren't in the 'Santa Baby' photo while Nadya wears her 'peekaboo' nightie?

My other question is "Why is the one baby in a walker behind everyone?"

she seems to be very selective about what is shown of the tups;I'm not convinced they're all 'ok' as she says.It took several months for the parents of the septuplets to know for sure that 2 of them have CP.
Hopefully, we'll see all of them walking and talking soon (?)

  • #729
Gracious! Amazing how she's come out smelling like a rose on this deal so far, despite supposedly having no $, job, etc., isn't it?

What I think bothers me the most is that (if I heard correctly) her parents lost the home they were previously nice enough to share with her and her pre-octuplet brood, yet she didn't include them in her living arrangements when she went and bought a house.

I can understand ideally not wanting to share the home with even more people, but couldn't she at least have helped them keep their own home after they extended it to her along with their patience and babysitting skills?

Tsk, tsk. :shakehead:

Ya know, she could have put that baby in the walker right up front, in the middle of the children in the Boppy seats. If she really needed to strike a pose, she could have layed on her side across in front of them or just sat behind trying to appear to be embracing them all at once. Of course with her octo only pose, the baby in the 'walker' isn't the only one of her kids that seems to be left out of the snapshot.

I'd think that walking could be happening with some of them pretty soon (if not already) and I'm not sure about talking. I'd think with so many people in the home, there is a lot of talking happening which I think helps the younger babies develop their speech. (I do hope that none of the octos first words are "stupid" or "the 'B' word".)

This was something that upset me a lot too.
From what I remember; it was her parents 2nd house; they did not live there; she did.

I still think it's wrong that she didn't save the house.

My guess is they did different "poses". They took a family/group shot; then all kids, then split the tups up from other kids.

We do the same thing; I take a pic with each kid; then both kids, then my hubby; and a group shot.

The other children were with their babysitters according to the site where I originally saw the picture! There were 3 or four pictures taken from across the street showing her house all decorated up with one of the older boys walking alone around the display, he looked so forlorn it made my eyes tear up. I first saw this picture before Christmas but have seen no copies as a full family shoot. Just Slutty and her babes.

Thank you for pointing this out, Jonas(?) Her blond Angel - is hidden behind her arm, the difference in his appearance keeps getting more obvious! has the sweetie Angel with the cleft been repaired yet?

What I noticed first, was how some of those babies at 10 mos weren't able to support themselves upright sitting in their little Boppy Seats! She sure likes that great big boy who is on her lap! Maybe still trying to makeup for calling him a glutton, more likely showing us how healthy the babies are!

Octo gram had to move in with a friend after the house Nutty lived in foreclosed and if I remember correctly this was the 2nd house Gma lost last year!!.

Thank you for a wonderful laugh!! when I am as frustrated as she makes me I sometimes forget there is humor in most things if you just stand back and look!

Did you read about the moms who did have the embryo's mixed up this year? I think it was 3 moms all who conceived and at least one who handed the baby over to his biological parents, I remember when another delivered but don't recall her decision after delivery.

Dr. Ben Ramaley, a Greenwich, Connecticut fertility doctor stands accused of not only impregnating a patient with the wrong man's sperm, but --in a shocking twist-- using his own instead. The prominent doctor was supposed to artificially inseminate an unidentified woman with her husband's sperm after they first consulted him in 2002. After several attempts, the woman became pregnant and gave birth to twins.

Cecil B. Jacobson, a former George Washington University geneticist who owned the Reproductive Genetics Center Ltd., of Vienna, also was accused in the indictment of repeatedly injecting women who paid up to $5,000 for fertility treatments with a drug that would falsely indicate in tests that they were pregnant.

Cecil B. Jacobson, the former Fairfax County fertility doctor convicted nearly two years ago of fraud for using his own sperm to impregnate patients, reported to a federal prison in Colorado yesterday to begin serving his sentence.

Dr. Quincy Fortier is a legend in Las Vegas medical circles. His private practice began in 1945, two years before Bugsy Siegel opened the Flamingo Hotel. He's cared for thousands of patients and became a specialist in fertility medicine. In 1991, he was honored as Nevada's physician of the year. But the good doctor harbored dark secrets. Five years ago, Dr. Fortier was accused by a former patient of using his own sperm during artificial insemination procedures back in the '70s.

The state medical board is preparing to take action against a Las Vegas fertility doctor who admits that he used his own semen to impregnate his patients. Fortier's adopted daughter testified in court that she was 17 and a virgin when she became pregnant after receiving a "medical exam" from her adopted father. Fortier testified he doesn't know how his daughter became pregnant and that there were lots of sperm samples around the lab. When Dr. Fortier was asked how many other times he used his own sperm to impregnate a patient, he said the answer was "unknown".There were complaints in the 60's 70's 80's and 90's all covered up, settled and sealed.

This is creepy and sort-a disgusting how often it happens!

Does anyone have that add-on, where you can take a picture of the mom and dad and a shot of the baby and it tells which parent the baby more closely resembles? Could be interesting!!! ?? :genie: / :baby: / :nuclear: ??

is it even possible to retrieve that many eggs? I know women are born with several thousand, but only a select few of those are capable of becoming mature and then being released in a normal cycle.(or rather, approx. 12 per yr for every yr a woman has cycles.minus the months she is pregnant, and maybe a few more if she breastfeeds).

Thank you for finding that article! I knew I had read/heard her say she used 8 embryo's not - knowing all would take. Is a ridiculous thing to say, the standards are what they are to prevent HOM - So the more often he attempted the better her chances of hitting the jackpot so she was undoubtedly crossing her fingers, toes and legs after the doc was done putting them all in!! After all she wasn't getting any younger!

The number of embryos Kamrava transferred in July 2008 was so outside the norm that they "should not be transferred into any woman, regardless of age," the document said. That transfer, which resulted in the octuplets, went "beyond the reasonable judgment of any treating physician," the board wrote

"Osinoff said that medical guidelines on embryo transfers are guidelines only, and not law. He also said there were no standards requiring patients to be referred for mental health evaluation."

One of the charges against the doc is: He is accused of giving Suleman too much of the Gonadotropins hormone while stimulating her ovaries for in vitro fertilization:

Gonadotropins can produce scads of eggs; sometimes 30 or more. Because of the risks associated with multiple egg production, it's the best that treatment be supervised by a doctor who is experienced with gonadotropin therapy. The incidence may be lower when the drug dosage is monitored by an experienced Reproductive Endocrinologist. (which was in fact his specialty)

This is why I believe the estimated numbers I used came up on the low side. I have heard/read docs say a woman in her 20's should come up with 20 to 30 good quality follicles. Not knowing her specifics I estimated what would be IMO a minimum number. It could in fact be considerably higher.

The more aggressive level of ovulation induction is called superovulation. This treatment uses gonadotropins or sometimes a combination of clomiphene and gonadotropins to stimulate the production of multiple eggs. Patients undergoing superovulation must be closely monitored by blood tests and ultrasounds. Monitoring ensures that the patient does not hyperstimulate and also helps the physician administer the correct dosage of medication so that only a few follicles develop.

Normally, a woman produces one mature egg each month and loses several immature eggs; through the use of medications, several follicles, or egg sacs, can be induced to develop mature eggs for retrieval. The process of IVF and egg donation requires that the donor take a series of injectable medications which induce the growth of multiple ovarian follicles.

Psychological Evaluation
I/We understand that this psychological evaluation may involve psychological testing and will include discussions of our psychosocial history, current mental status, current level of support from significant others, marital satisfaction, and psychological well?being. I understand that the evaluation process and the discussion of life experiences can be emotionally distressing.

This is just an example of what is out there, most fertility sites I read, have counseling for their infertility patients. Maybe because she wasn't infertile he didn't think she needed help or maybe if she got help he would no longer be needed!!

Feel free to look for yourselves, but I am estimating 95% of the sites I accessed for information for an article I was writing a few months ago put a psych eval in the very first pages of their information packets. Dr K can say whatever he wants his standards of care fall far below any site I studied.

A year isn't really all that long for an investigation, he probably has more patients he treated in an inappropriate manner. I'll try to remember to read his records of complaints filed with the state occasionally.

To answer your question about the baby in the walker, Boyz_Mum, that child has enough sense not to be seen with Octomom.

..I had trouble finding this photo again, seems someone didn't want it online?? I don't know, but ignore the grinch photo.I'm of course talking about the one of the right. Some ppl blogging on the now-closed NS forum thought the fair baby on the left was the neighbor's child...NO,I'm pretty sure this is 'the blond one',baby Noah!!
On one of the latest videos, you can see him sitting up in the crib when Nutty goes into the baby room. Please tell me these kids are related??or even to HER??? (at least not Noah) imo, not!

yes and if they were all sewed into the lining of her uterus, they both knew all the embryos probably stood a pretty good chance of continuing to grow.whether they would all survive, who knew, but this was no mistake and they were both aiming for a goal..a HOM pregnancy, imo.

thanks for that info!!! I JW,if she had that many eggs, what happened to them? why does it seem, from the looks of different ethnicities of the babies, that the dr had to throw together what he had? mix up,or intended (?)
