A woman confronted a clown hired to mock Mayor Maggie Houlihan at a dinner party Thursday night, tearing off her wig and plastic foam nose and throwing them in a fountain. The incident occurred as about 140 people gathered in the Lumberyard shopping center for the annual installation dinner and awards ceremony organized by the Downtown Encinitas MainStreet Association.
Marina Buhle, an employeeat Starbucks in the Lumberyard, said she was cleaning the front of the cafe when she saw a woman approach the clown and start shouting at her. The clown was standing on a sidewalk holding a sign that ridiculed Houlihan.
