Before I post this I want to say a couple of things.
1. My father worked with Steve Dahl for years at WLS radio. I have met him personally and I never in a million years would believe that he was ever going to go through with this...it was what it was an on-air bit.
2. I subscribe to Steve's daily email. Every single one that has had to do with Drew peterson insinuates Steve's belief that the man is guilty. (without out right accusing him obviously for legal reasons)
So here is Steve's official statement
Today Buzz and I talked with Drew Peterson and his attorney, Joel Brodsky. At some point, Joel said I should fix Drew up and then I jokingly said something like We should do a Dating Game. Drew wanted me to come along as the Dating Game chaperone. Buzz said Lets take this off the air and I pretty much thought that was the end of it. Theres no way I can fix girls up with a murder suspect (presumed innocent), and I dont really want to. It sure was bizarre to even have that conversation with the actual Drew. Since then, things have gotten really crazy. It was a spontaneous on-air bit.
It was an interesting and unusual segment, and thats all it was. Its not every day you get a call from Drew Peterson and his lawyer, and my curiosity got the best of me. Im glad it did, since I thought it was oddly compelling and scary as hell all at the same time. I had no intention of ever going through with the Dating Game idea, once I got off the air and had the chance to think it through. Besides, Drew is still legally married, so hes not really allowed to date yet. Im very old school. What can I say? We got a few interesting quotes from Drew, and learned that he doesnt like my impersonation of him.
(Bolding is mine)
