Casshew,

Geesh.......you had me going there for a moment. For a woman in her 60's that woman has a lot of bad road on her face. She looks like a mummy. What can she be thinking??

Hahaha!! but oh if this is true that poor baby..........this woman started fertlity treatment at 56....?. if true I think she is just plain selfish.

This makes me sick

I was born when my mother was 43 and my dad 52. I lost my dad when I was 17. My mother died when I was 42. I never had grandparents. My parents were older than the parents of any of my friends - they were old enough to be my grandparents. I was an only child. My children don't have cousins or aunts & uncles.

Having a baby when you are past 60 is just selfish and stupid. Granted people are living longer, but at what cost? I would gladly give my right arm to have my parents back for just a little while longer and to have been blessed with siblings and extended family.

I wonder if there are other siblings? Who is to take care of this child, once mother has passed? I hear that "new life" can bring happiness and longer life. Maybe now she will have something to live for? I feel bad for the child, though. I think it is a selfish thing to do, too.

My mom died on her 49th birthday. My father died at 54. There's no guaranty that having children in your 20s or 30s means that you get to stick around. While I personally think its kinda selfish (and just plain strange) for this woman to have a child when she's so old, we're all here at God's whim.

Jeana,
I hear ya'. My father died when I was a child, myself. He was 39, but I am saying, sooner or later, the child will most likely out live her mother. Probably sooner than later, I'm thinking.... I was curious, if it's say...only 10 years from now, would there be any family around to take care of the girl. This story is definitely amazing, and leaves a lot of people voicing their opinions, for sure. Wonder if anyone's actually asked her "why now?"

Good questions darlin. This is what I saw on the link:
Mrs Iliescu, who lives in a two room flat in Bucharest, said: "I sometimes wonder from where my strength comes from, even though I do not feel tired at all.

One would also wonder how much the infertility treatments over a decade cost her? Where did she get the money? If its cheaper over there, maybe American couples could travel there to get their treatments done.

Hi Jeana, (Darlin' reminds me of my mom ;) who lives in the South)

I caught that, too.. she must have some strength going through nine months of pregnancy.....I wonder if she was monitored closely? A two room Bucharest, huh? Wow...I also question if that's where her $money$ went? Or, I wonder if she was an "experiment" to see if a lady of that maturity, could still get pregnant and the clinic or someone else, paid for her treatments.
I can't believe she hasn't hit menopause yet! I guess some people are truly meant to be child bearers!

LOL I'm in Dallas. Just about everyone is "darlin." :) :) :)

That lady says God willing, she'll have another. I think I'm hoping that doesn't happen. Even if her body could go through another pregnancy, having two young children could wear anyone out!!!! I know I couldn't go through with it again.
