Her vehicle was discovered in a remote near near Casteel Road in Hazelton, nearly 25 miles east of Morgantown.

Morgantown woman, last seen a month ago, found dead, police say

Melanie Marie Gardner, 32, had been last seen in the Morgantown area. The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday her body and her vehicle were found in Preston County.

The release says Gardner was positively identified, and the Medical Examiner responded to the scene.

The MCSO says the investigation remains active and ongoing.

They're investigating for now to rule out foul play.

Prior to finding the Jeep, MARG officials said the working theory is Gardner was in an accident and ran off the road. This theory does not eliminate the possibility for other explanations as to her disappearance.
