Found Deceased WY - Aubree Corona, 28, did not return to campsite, Sublette County, 13 Jul 2019

Aubree's breathalyzer would have been first thing in the morning. Most LE have very short windows in the mornings and evenings when they perform the tests, generally 1/2 hour to an hour. Our understanding is that even if she would have blown positive on the breathalyzer it would have only been a night or two in jail-not worth running away from. As for the OnStar, that I can't say. It might be something in the owner's manual plus her BF is a mechanic.

But, if I understand correctly, she got lost on her way to the breathalyzer, correct? And then proceeded to get even more lost throughout the day? It is possible she became so frustrated she said "eff it!" and got a drink somewhere?

That is strange, my last vehicle had onstar. I canceled it and decided to just use my cell phone. After breaking down out of town and not have a phone signal I hit the onstar button and an operator answered. She said that I could still use for 911 calls.
Family contacted OnStar and were told that OnStar had been activated at one time but was currently DISABLED.

I am sorry... please tell me to quit if I am being too nosey... How long were Aubree and the bf dating? Did someone mention that this relationship is fairly new? I may be mixing this case with another.

Wow!!! If thats true why on earth hasn't it already been done?! If AC has wrecked off the road somewhere and is stuck inside the truck, time is of the essence.
Per family conversation with OnStar the OnStar in the truck has been DISABLED, therefore there is nothing they can do.

I believe you had told us this earlier. When you did the first thing that came to mind was water. Did the OnStar people say if it would become "disabled" if the car/battery was disabled due something such as being under water or did it manually have to be disabled?

Nothing is impossible. However, the nearest town, since she did not make it into Pinedale and was headed over the mountain, would have been Dubois. Other that the two store clerks who spoke to her no one else in Dubois saw her and that is where she supposedly texted the BF from saying she was gasing up the truck, getting food and a map and headed back.

So both of them would have been pretty well known to each others family? I would guess? Unless, of course, they do not live nearby and would not have had that opportunity. I am just thinking in perspective of my situation... My "bf" and I have been together so long that we are "legally" something or another by now. I was just thinking how we may or may not act/react in a similar situation. I really am not just asking to be nosey.
I thank you so much for taking the time for our questions. I sure do not understand how you make it through the day with your sanity intact, but Bless You All and I am praying for Aubree to be brought back home soon!

Even the locals appear to think that the search has ended too soon, from what I read on the Sheriff's fb post. So, that should tell us something, also. The post by the drone pilot is very informative as to why searching via drone is not really a feasible option for them.
I know that once I put my bike in the back of the truck, got it tied down with bungee cords, wenches and rope (safe for travel), I was not going to take it out, until I reached my final destination. They are a lot heavier than everyone thinks. Especially, when you are trying to push it up a 2x4 into the back of a pickup. o_O Does anyone know what kind of motorcycle/dirt bike it was?

Attached is the most current missing flyer with information on the truck and bike. However pictures of both truck and bike are stock pictures.

To some degree. The BF was known better by some family members and not at all by other family members. Our family does not know how well Aubree knew the BF family as she never spoke about them. Not sure why there was not more interaction. As a family we can only speculate.

This investigation is just making me mad because it seems like they’re not putting any effort into it because she’s been charged with a crime, so they don’t feel like she’s worthy of being found, or else they are assuming she ran away because she was in trouble. I hope that’s not the case.

Thank-you for your thoughts! That is how we've felt! Regardless of what she has or has not done she is still a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, granddaughter, etc. and loved and missed very much! While her charges were not pretty they are not enough to run from. All she had to do is work through the problem.

This is total speculation because I don’t know how this works in her state, but I know in some places, the person calls every day to find out if they have to do a UA that day or not so it’s random. I’m assuming if she was out on bail or on probation from another charge in the past, she would have had to get permission to leave the city/county.

So, possibly she had asked for permission and the permission was granted with the condition that she continue to call in about the drug test, and arrangements were made that if she had to do the test, she’d go to the city where she went? Maybe it was the closest to the campground with the capability?
You are absolutely correct Tristan P! Pinedale was the closest facility with the ability to do the testing and yes she did have to get permission from her home county which is Sweetwater County.

I wonder if thermal imaging could have helped early on. By now? I don’t want to think. Did LE or any other SAR use thermal imaging? Anyone know?[/QUOTE

Unfortunately, no thermal imagine was used. It took LE until Tuesday to organize a search.

Drove down Union Pass from Dubois side down to Cora today. Didn't see anything that looked suspicious. The road is very rough and rain washed in spots but shouldn't have been an issue for a truck. Not many signs and the few there are were a bit confusing for a non-local. Have the lakes been checked? And if anyone knew where to hide a truck it would be the loggers, not accusing anyone of anything, just saying...
As far as the family knows Aubree only ran into 1 logger who reported his odd encounter with her as soon as he realized she had not followed him completely off the mountain. The idea of checking the lakes was brought up to LE but were told there were too many lakes in the area to search all of them.

Unfortunately I believe in one of these lakes is where we will find Aubree.

Is there a reason he should report it as stolen?
Not necessarily, other than LE would be alerted to look for a specific vehicle rather than waiting to stop it or for it to be in an accident. I would think he would want his truck and bike back.

In my opinion it cant be turned in as stolen because LE was prob told she had permission to drive it

  • #380
I agree. If there wasn't a sign I don't know how she would know to turn there if she was unfamiliar with that area as well.

What kind of searching has been done along Union Pass RD itself by the family? Or has the focus been on the southern route the clerk had given?
The family spent 5 days on the mountain extensively searching every trail and cutoff trail we could find on both sides of the mountain. We have only known about the route the clerk gave Aubree for about a week and a half so are now searching that area. But still nothing!
