Found Deceased WY - Aubree Corona, 28, did not return to campsite, Sublette County, 13 Jul 2019

  • #521
Really wasn't expecting her truck to be found without her in it. At least they know where to search now.

So, my top questions are: Was the truck out of gas or disabled in some other way? (Did she not fill up the tank at the gas station?) And, if not, was she possibly suicidal?

“Sublette County Sherriff's Office said detectives are on scene gathering evidence; at this time, there are no indicators of Corona's current location. Corona is still listed as a missing person.”

Snip

“Sublette County Sheriff's Office said this new discovery is a good step at locating Corona.”

Wow. Honestly expected her to be found in water. But, I’ll say it again. Logger(s).

Please, Aubree, hang in there. I’ve got more hope than I had!

I wonder if logging vehicles are equipped with GPS?

Noting FWIW that Leeds Creek meets Bull Moose Creek.

Gosh I can’t get over the terrain/landscape....poor thing if she is lost out there.

Best of luck to all the searchers out there.

The most helpful thing to know now would be any or all of: when Aubree bought gas, when she stopped at the second gas station, when the logger leading her down the mountain called the Fremont County Sheriff's Office - from the register transactions and from the Sheriff's call log. I am sure law enforcement knows.

Ha! I was just deciding whether or not to post that article...seems like cheesy reporting but I googled the source and it is real MSM it seems...I’ll take it with a grain of salt.

“The truck was found in the Leeds Creek area in Fremont County, a remote area of the Bridger-Teton National Forest approximately 40 miles north of where Corona and friends were camping an and Dubois. The location would suggest Corona simply became lost on her way to a store to get supplies and seems to jibe with reports she was seen on the Dubois side of Union Pass.”

(That last sentence is speculative reporting even though I agree she likely got lost, moo.)

Snip

“But nothing initially found has law enforcement believe Corona met with any foul play. Nor does anything at the scene indicate where Corona might be now.”

Snip

“The Leeds Creek area where the truck was found is not a frequented site by backcountry users. It was not part of the initial search grid, mostly because where the truck was found is off roads where motorized vehicle use is not permitted.”

PS if I were @GATOR30 I’d call and blast them, moo.

I felt the same way reading it. However, that is one of the most read news sources in our area (services mostly Jackson and Pinedale). Very unprofessional casting suspicion on anyone. I have been very disappointed by the lack of comprehensive news coverage in the area. I contacted one local news agency in the Lander area on Thursday asking if they would write an in depth article on Aubree's disappearance and have heard nothing back from them.

Phot0 1 I've included is the map that Sweetwater Now posted in their article on July 17th
Photo 2 is a screen shot of a map from KUTV News that I added points to in order to compare to the search and rescue map I put it over and drew lines to their intersects.
Photo 3 is MY OPINION of where the truck was found based on the personal comparison of these two maps. If it was an untraveled road it looks like it was SO close to where they initially searched. I don't know what the terrain looks like, since I've never been there, but the close ups of Google Maps shows very few dirt roads and a lot of open space and a lot of trees.

Anyway. It was bugging me what the comparison would be between the two maps so I thought I'd share what I found.

Were her keys in the truck?

As a family we have not been told much. Just that the truck was found with the dirt bike in the back and that the truck was not wrecked. It just appeared to be parked. We were told detectives were processing the scene and once the scene was processed they would move the truck out of the mountain for further processing. We have still not heard anything more...

To our VI @montanagirl15, can you please help answer any of these questions, tia.

ETA: so sorry, just seeing this, catching up my bad:

I’m still looking at mileage, etc but IF she ran out of gas and/or chose to abandon her vehicle, she may have headed to the creek not only for water but to follow along the creek.
Per LE the bike was still on the back of the truck. Uncertain if she had the keys.

We know statistically that often people are found very close to their vehicles IF there has been an accident, but with no accident...

This terrain is just, like I said magnificent.

She’s been missing since July 13. That’s 35 days? Out there in that wilderness?

Might she have gotten on the bike I wonder—-was that bike operational, refresh my memory please. Did she have the keys, etc. Obviously LE would see if the bike was there or not and would know this.

Of course wildlife is a concern among other things. I haven’t thought Foul Play is a factor from the beginning. Moo

“Per LE the bike was still on the back of the truck. Uncertain if she had the keys.”

What are your thoughts at this point, @montanagirl15?

My thoughts are, and always have been, that this is a case about Geography, Topography, etc...this is all about terrain, mapping, etc..Moo.

What comes to mind is CUE, SAR group, iirc it was CUE ( hi @Foxfire ) during the search for Heather Elvis. Iirc the searchers had GPS trackers on. They were able to, at the end of the day, look at a screen and see ExActly where they searched, and what areas may have been missed.

I’m sure LE has all resources out. I’m very interested about who all is out right now and in what capacity.

I would like to know from LE what is the scale of their search right now. They’ll likely start within a mile radius and work their way out, etc, etc...

She’s been out there 35 days but miracles do happen. Time really is of essence. I’m not ready to give up yet.

One concern is if they are tracking dogs, the trail could be contaminated/compromised if too many people are out there searching. So this is always a catch 22 with getting searchers out there vs. keeping it clean for the dogs.

These maps are INSANE. Man.
(Same images we’ve seen that Montangirl and AmandaRW posted)

ETA: That is one big green blob for lack of a better term. And a bunch of squiggly lines. Sigh.
