New statement from Laundrie family attorney: The news about Gabby Petito is heartbreaking. The Laundrie family prays for Gabby and her family.

Based on the aerial footage of the tent, we can see the Forest Rd fork in the background. Here's a rough map I made. There is no official map, from what I've seen.
The tent is the small white area in the bottom right corner. The Google map red marker is where the van was spotted on 8/27. The blue dot is where her remains are believed to have been found.

I heard one of the reporters say that the canopy was put up “about 200 yards from the road”. I’ve got a screen shot of a zoomed out aerial showing the location of the canopy in relation to the road. Is it ok to post that?

Can’t figure out how to link to a video from fb, but it’s one of the KSL Chopper 5 videos they have up.

Am I wrong or have the remains not been confirmed to be that of Gabby's? I know it is probably her, but I have not seen any statement that the remains are definitively hers. Just don't want to jump the gun!
They never would have told her parents and then go on national television and say respect them "while they mourn Gabby's loss"

I'm sorry- she was buried 1000 feet away from the van? link please!
I think this is BL and Gabby looking back at the Bethunes driving by their van. The one on the right looks blond and sorta like Gabby. Looks like two bodies and faces looking back.

Seems to me that it all comes down to the medical examiner's report at this point. Obviously a ruling that her death was accidental, exonerates him completely, but an inconclusive ruling would have essentially the same effect. I truly hope that the Coroner is still able to determine cause of death with enough certainty, that a solid case can be brought against BL.

I can't see his parents getting charged. I am unable to remember any case where that happened. If they did somehow aid in his escape, they'll probably get away with it.
Based on my past training, IMO the ME will have a cause of death (or at least a good idea) in the next couple of days. Whether they release it to the public is another story.

So sorry to hear about Gabby. She was so very young and so excited to start a new venture. Praying for her family. BL needs to be found. He should have stepped up days ago. I hope his parents can now be questioned. I know the FBI is on this. Just praying the truth comes out so her parents can know how this all happened.

I recall someone called gabby America’s daughter.

I hope the Laundries become America’s most hated family. Or disliked. I’m not sure which word I should use.

I don’t want anyone to forget what they contributed. Which was .. nothing.

Hopefully the animals didn’t destroy too much evidence.

I’m hesitant to put too much blame on the BL parents yet. We don’t know how much they knew or didn’t know. I imagine we will eventually find out as it’s likely Gabby’s family will take them to court.

This is where the van was seen on the side of the road and where they found the body

Someone on the live news coverage (linked earlier) with that overhead shot of the canopy stated that it was about 200 yards from the road.

It keeps getting reported that she was found in Grand Teton National Park. I think technically this is not correct, she was found in Bridger-Teton National Forest. Not that it really matters that much. :(

Well that's definitely a good few miles away from where the van was spotted on Aug 27th! But we still don't have a concrete timeline yet....

Also....the text from Gabby's phone in Yosemite....??? How will the Laundrie's try to spin that?

I am brokenhearted for her family. Major overhaul needed of our police, judicial, etc. That stop could have been a major factor.

Until they can determine the cause of death, nothing is certain. Unless LE has concrete evidence that they haven't released yet, we won't se BL charged with anything or even named as a suspect. Right now all we know is that there was a death, not that there was any crime.

Logic tells me there was a crime. And of course he is a suspect. They use POI now but he was suspect the moment LE determined he went home without her.

In a death investigation, even the tiniest, most seemingly insignificant details should matter.

The news is coming over the radio, and they are not saying the found body is Gabby's. So either they are not quite up to date, or it has not been confirmed.
Will probably take a few hours for official confirmation with dental records or DNA. Someone said her father is out there so he probably ID'd the remains, but confirmation has to be scientific for good measure..

I wonder if LE can now get a warrant to search the Laundrie home? I'm not convinced that Brian isn't there. (Unless he has killed himself.) imo.

  • #577
Is it certain BL killed her?
No.

LE named him a poi fairly early on and they haven't warned the public about a kidnapper in the area they were camping in; so it's safe to say they're leaning towards BL having the answers -- even though he's not a suspect yet.
The return trip BL took without Gabby and the refusal of himself and his family to answer Gabby's families' calls would make anyone look questionable.
Just a simple; "We argued and I left her by the road in such and such a place....".

But some of the answers are more clear now that she's been found.
Imo.

To the Bethune family…you won’t see this, I imagine, but what I see on the news is that your vlog with a snippet of the van helped to locate her body.

On your vlog you also explained that you lost your son in a car accident on the way to Disney, and that you had a Pay it Forward type of Go Fund Me, named for your son Ethan.

I am going to donate to that right now. I bless you, parents who lost a 7-year old, for noticing you had the van on your vlog and immediately contacting the FBI. Whatever peace may come to Gabby’s family, you played a large part. Thank you.

thank you for this. i did not know. payday is wednesday...paying it forward for ethan.

The remains found are consistent with being Gabby but not 100% confirmation. I think it's safe to say it's her especially considering where she was found. She was found not found from the last video of where their van was seen by the YouTube couple in Grand Teton, WY.

Giving you the link to the live feed I am watching.

You maybe right but he could have called for help. 911 or flagged down anyone or a Park Ranger/ State Trooper for help.
