I think her not telling LE that Brian slapped her and hit her repeatedly is evidence that she covered for him.

If she told LE he hit her repeatedly, then he hit her repeatedly. If she didn't tell LE he hit her repeatedly, then she was covering for him because he hit her repeatedly. Hmmm.

Not always. But of course you are quite correct a mistrial doesn't have to be the end for the prosecution. And it certainly doesn't mean "not guilty" in the sense of a verdict. It does mean "innocent until proven guilty" is still in force. And whatever swayed one juror potentially could sway another.

YEs, but whatever convinced the other 11 is more like to convince 12 on another jury.

I am wondering what a 'public service' incident is? It sounds like simply GP's dad expressed to LE that he was concerned about his daughter's whereabouts in conjunction with not being able to contact BL's family. Not that he trespassed on their property or anything like that. Maybe he drove by a time or two, who knows, but I would too.

Public Service Incident is a “well check” or check to ensure the party in question is ok.

I'm with Andree.... He would have to have access to treated water at some stage.. I honestly don't think anyone in the USA, or in Au where I live can be drinking wild water for days and days and days, it just doesn't work like that.. there are consequences. Most rivers and creeks are polluted in some way, either by man or beast.

I can''t see him toting his own water supply.

And he needs an audience.. who else is going to give him the feedback of his own wonderfulness that is oxygen to him? where is the adoration, the accomodation, the approval, the agreement?>. he can't be getting that from himself 24/7...
I wonder if he has a blog going somewhere under a different name?
Could be spoutin' allsorts online...
maybe an incel type site?

Her tattoo?
No. In the cruiser, you can see an imprint of a hand on her upper arm. It’s red with lighter imprint of a hand like her arm was grabbed.

BL"... she's trying to start up like her own little website blog and everything, so I gave her time...".

Why does he need to "give her time?" He seems that he is entitled to choose what they do when they do it, and on his time schedule. I think he considers himself gracious and giving that he would allow her to have time. It also bothers me that he can not do something seemingly minor for GP, like keep his feet clean.

BL's parents seem to cater to him. BL thinks the world should cater to him; as if everybody owes him something.

Exactly. His entitlement and self-assuredness during that Moab stop, belittling her and her online work, really told me a lot about their relationship. But I'm wondering how his entitlement would translate to suicide or even just suffering with discomfort in a nature preserve. Wouldn't he feel entitled to live a long and comfy life that he later could brag about, even if he killed his girlfriend? Suicide is like a sacrifice, something he didn't appear to believe in.

Snipped by me.

If he has a Lifestraw he'd be okay for water (though it would not taste at all good.) But there's no way he could have carried enough food with him in that backpack to last for weeks, along with the other gear he'd need to survive out there.
a bunch of Mountain House and a JetBoil? Hardly likely... but possible. How big is the backpack?

MREs are available for purchase and require no heat. They have a thing inside to heat them.

Eta: one person mentioned in an interview that he bragged about being able to get by on the AT with basically no food.

Gabby was a bright light. Full of life and future plans

So true. That's why that last image of her crying in the back of the police car is so awful.
I can't even look at video or images of BL or hear him speak. She could have done so much better. Like infinitely better.

Pages back water was addressed. Something you buy with a filter. You can drink any water anywhere. I remember when I looked it up the Carter’s asked for it to take care of Guiana Worm.
Sorry I can’t remember the name right now.

I believe it was Gabby herself that was saying that they were engaged?

According to a Petito family attorney, the pair had gotten engaged, but postponed their wedding plans because of the coronavirus pandemic and decided to take the trip instead.
Gabby Petito timeline: Everything we know about her disappearance

Petito had posted on Instagram that she got engaged to Brian Laundrie in July 2020.
"Brian asked me to marry him and I said yes! @bizarre_design_ you make life feel unreal, and everyday is such a dream with you ," Petito wrote in the now-removed post.
Gabby Petito's mom said she and her fiancé had called off their engagement before going on the cross-country trip where she vanished

I think their state of "engagement" went on and off like a light switch, depending on if they were arguing or not.

Just a feeling I got from comments by the mother and from Gabby herself. IMO

If they are concentrating on bodies of water, does this mean they now believe BL has drowned or is submerged in the water?
I really don't understand the search of this area. I wish we all knew what they knew.
Or evidence tossed into the water. But yeah, same, none of it makes much sense to me right now either

The OP and I both said an "incident". Nothing regarding him going to the home. There is a police report and it was the day before she was reported missing officially. Unless you have a non redacted copy of the police report, this is an MSM confirmation.

Clip from article:
Petito did not go to the home physically, North Port police said separately, but expressed concern about his daughter's whereabouts.

Nearly everything but the time and address is redacted due to the open investigation, but the documents do link Joseph Petito to a police incident report involving the home where his daughter lived with Laundrie and his parents at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 10. The address came up twice on Sept. 11 for follow-up investigations.
Does calling police, concerned for his daughters well being constitute an 'incident'?

She was reported missing on the 11th. This was on the 10th and it does say a few things about it. I'm not trying to bicker but there was an incident, JP called police and the NEXT day she was reported missing.
Maybe he requested a welfare check, since Gabby resided there and they were unable to get in touch with anybody concerning her whereabouts.

I would currently be in jail if my daughter was missing and the person who was last seen with her refused to give us any information that could help locate her. I think that GP's family has shown amazing restraint. IMO.

But LE, it seems did not bother to follow up on that call, just the one that showed her trying to get back in her van that he had locked her out of. I don't agree with the posters who say that they handled this situation well.
I think they handled it well actually.
It is being investigated.
There were some links posted earlier today with discussions by alleged experts stating there may have been confusion regarding which message they received first.
I think we have to await the outcome of that investigation.
They will have all the facts, they will make recommendations based upon their factual acquisition, hopefully and if things need to change they may well.

From the police point of view, yes. It's an event that's entered in their log.
