Correct. BL said GP “grabbed” the steering wheel which caused him to go over the curb. The officer then asks (sarcastically) whether or not she had her foot on the gas pedal too to which BL responds by admitting he was speeding, but maintains GP grabbed the wheel.

Not to defend him but I totally get the speeding aspect. Tensions were high in that car. Adrenaline was high. He was probably trying to calm her down at the same time wanting to get them away from their last altercation site as fast as possible. Not because they did anything wrong but more out of sight out of mind kind of thing. To calm down. He acknowledged he raised his voice to let her know they had an audience back at that site. Maybe he was speeding out of embarrassment for the situation that had just occurred and not even realized it. It happens.

Why would he lie about having/not having a phone? I can't think of any reasons.

Maybe so they wouldn't separate them. Maybe in his mind, if he had no phone he wouldn't have anyway of contacting her to get back together the next day.

He was squirrelly about having a phone because he didn't want the cops taking it and keeping it, and maybe looking at it.

I'm not in the US, would it be normal for LE to take phones in this situation? Is lying about having a phone a pretty standard reaction when stopped for any reason? To me that seems a really odd thing

Ok so this part is confusing because in the video at one point he says she was holding the phone and even struck him with the phone but they don’t say the argument was about the phone. The only other mention of the phone was where he said he doesn’t have a phone and his fear was her leaving him stranded without a phone for contact because she was trying to get the keys from him. So he’d have been without the car and the phone whereas if he was in the car she at least had the phone but at no point did anyone have both since that would do someone an obvious disservice. That’s my take on it anyway.

I still would like to know what started the argument over the phone, and which phone they were arguing about.

He did seems slightly hesitant to give the police her phone to me. He also said it was in a spot that he couldn't just tell the officer so she had him show her. Obviously it's a stretch but could be relivent.

Gabby said she wasn’t use to driving the van far. So I doubt she would want to drive it back to Florida or NY. Per the police cam.

Gabby said she slapped him because she wanted him to stop telling her to calm down. I didn’t see the part she said she was afraid he would leave. Was that just someone’s opinion?

I haven’t posted here for a long time. But my curiosity peaked on this case. Can you guys read the whole report before you start posting. I see so much wrong information and then it’s pages of clearing it up.
Some of you are very new at this and posting what you think happens can be mistaken for it to be real and then pages of where did you see this happen. If you have an opinion please post IMO so other realize it and newbies realize it means in my opinion. Doesn’t mean it happen.
And we can skip it if not interested in IMO.

Also violence is never ok, not for any excuse. We have feet and we can walk away.

Wow. That body cam footage is something else. The encounter with police was a lot, lot longer than I was imagining. I think that the police report makes it sound like GP was acting more irrationally than she was actually behaving. Yes, she was very upset, but I've been just as upset after terrible fights. I'm not even done with it yet, but it was interesting that the bearded officer basically advised her to dump him. The officers all showed a lot of sensitivity and compassion.

I see a very vulnerable young woman, very distraught, with a man who has no interest in continuing on.

I'm thankful LE separated them, for the night at least.

I think he has a MORAL OBLIGATION to fully disclose to LE, and in private to her family the honest truth about their last interactions, where and how they parted, and where to most likely find her.

I had question myself about the trip back to FL. Did they have an apartment in FL? I thought they were living with his parents. If they did have an apt wouldn’t they have had to officially move out before they left for their months long journey? Why did BL have to fly back to move their stuff in the middle of their trip? It’s said they moved their stuff into storage but I read, sorry don’t remember where, that his father offered to have them store their things at his house. If that’s the case there wouldn’t have been too much stuff I wouldn’t think, if it would all fit into BLs parents house. I’ve seen pics. It’s a average size house. And WHY would it take 5 days?
Could there be a girlfriend in FL? Was that why GP was so angry, crying and slapped him on Aug 12th? I just don’t know.

The owner of the vehicle is missing and has gone silent to her family and on SM.. she likely can't report it stolen. The person in possession of the vehicle was the last to see the missing person and now he has her vehicle 2000 miles away from where she was last known to be. I just think if I went missing and someone was found in possession my vehicle, regardless of who they were to me, I would hope it would still be considered stolen because I'm not there to say otherwise.

I don't like when mental illness comes up in cases like this, because suddenly a lot of people start to think/care less of the victim and theorize they just did something to themselves (hurt themself or ran away in a "manic" episode for example) vs looking at the other party that is "stable", regardless of all the extremely shady details around his side of the story.

Respectfully, I don't think the answer is to sweep it under the rug, but to show the world it does not make a difference. It's another stigma like s3x workers or dr4g users. It doesn't mean they deserved becoming a victim, but it can help paint a clearer picture and find out what happened more quickly. This is Gabby, mental illness or not, she deserves to be found. Yesterday!

I agree. Heck, it comes up when someone is simply emotional, as if showing emotion is a sign of instability.

I have a daughter a little older than Gabby and I can tell you that girls fight back now. When I was their age, we didn't but this generation of young women do not put up with being mistreated.

I'm only 15 minutes into it but a couple of observations: He admits to locking her out during their argument that preceded this and which was witnessed and prompted this stop; he states he does not have a cellphone (this seems to explain the fight over the phone). I would guess this Officer Robbins body cam and that it is he who is doing the questioning. So far he handled this extremely well.

My feelings after watching the bodycam footage are that he may be trying to protect her in some way for whatever reason. That’s the vibe I got from him throughout the conversation with police. He wanted to make any domestic charge against her go away and protect her, even going as far as to say he would go to jail for the night in her place if that were an option. Very interesting footage either way.

My perception of that video is that you've got two people that are tired, dirty, low on money and very stressed out - particularly GP. Considering the heat of the moment, their stories are very similar. I don't think anyone is lying or trying to deceive the police. I don't think BL comes off as a creepy or bad in these exchanges.

That is a really good catch. I'm watching the body cam footage for the first time, and I hadn't noticed. But you are absolutely right. It says the 12th.

Agreed. It wasn’t just her vehicle either. That was her home for the time being, and I’m assuming anything she had such as a wallet was still inside. I think he threatened her regularly about driving off, and maybe he had done it a few times and come back just to screw with her mind. The fear of being abandoned is huge for many people. She genuinely believed he would do that.

The body cam footage gives a very different prospective. It speaks to tragedy, not ill will. A young couple trying to figure out life and enjoy life, as-well.

The only excuse for physical violence is to defend yourself from an attack.

Another problematic action of Gabby's is, when the cops were trying to pull them over, she grabbed the wheel of the vehicle and jerked the vehicle so the tires struck the curb.

She seems to be a little out of control in her actions, IMO.

Still, none of this justifies the guy keeping silent regarding her whereabouts.

I believe she was being controlled by him and was afraid.
If only she told the officer that.
