One thing I can come up with....he was going to be a jerk, and sneak off with the van, leaving her stranded. So they fought, she told him to take a hike, he literally did, then hitchhiked back to get the van. He only checked to see if she was in the van. He never checked to see where she was/how she was.
This seems possible (although I admit, not likely!) because we know he was threatening/started to take the van without her when they were at Moonflower.

So when he starts getting calls from her parents, he starts to get nervous. He thought they would have heard from her by now, after she found transportation and assistance from other campers in the area. He can't talk to them though, because he knows he left her there.

Even IF this is his story, it does not excuse him not telling her parents where he left GP, either through his parents or his attorney. They were literally begging for that little piece of information and he wouldn't even give them that.

I’m shocked, zero confirmed sightings of BL since he went “hiking”. I thought he was going to be apprehended by now.

Hi, Tippy Lynn, I would agree with you 100%, considering all the resources available to LE and FBI, and tip lines, etc, except for one thing... BL had over a WEEK to disappear. I think he could be anywhere.

- Besides having help from his parents, he may have extended family willing to hide him out somewhere.

- When I look at photos of his face, I don't find him particularly striking ... I mean, I think he could blend in if he were clean- shaven and were wearing a wig. Also, his height is not particularly unusual . - fairly average, I'd say.

- I've read posts saying that he has some experience on the App. Trail - but as I look along it's path, if I were BL, I would not choose that route. 1) too crowded. 2) too cold, wet. 3) getting closer and closer to his old stomping grounds.

- He could have hitch-hiked west in the back of someone's pickup truck, wearing sunglasses , a wig of nondescript color, and a baseball hat. Preferably with someone who has English as a second language . (PLEASE, I don't mean this in any disparaging way- just that if you're listening to the radio in your car, I think it's unlikely that non-English stations will devote as much air space to Gabby as English stations. If I am wrong, please correct me.)

- This next thing is WAY out there... and I'm only saying it because we don't have definite DNA from the crime scene yet giving proof of BL as the murderer. Just say, during a short time that BL was away from the camp site in Wyoming, that some other bad guy came along, attacked Gabby,
killed her, and ran away. BL comes back, finds her, and says, "OH NO!! No one will believe it wasn't me who did this! If I turn myself in, I'll be found guilty no matter what I do!"

I know, I know, it's NUTS. But maybe he is trying to get help to clear his name.

Or maybe I've just watched too many crime shows!

If that were really the case, Brian should have reported it as soon as he found her. Instead by sending fake texts, using her cards and vehicle and running just makes him look all the guiltier. Add to the fact that witnesses have seen him slapping her and getting abusive with waitresses and claiming that she was crazy. I see an abuser who went too far.
That's it in a nutshell! (Good to 'see' you again LinasK!!! Long time.)

Jean Cassara is the host tonight for the HLN case update. Good. That other one doesn't have the passion for crime stories nor the background Jean has.

Speculation/JMO
When I heard her ask if he would be staying far away, my heart broke with recognition. In the hypothetical scenario that he is What I will call here a “typical narcissistic abuser” and that she is the victim to “love” him unconditionally, I can imagine that after a huge fight, a night apart is the last thing she would want. There would be an absolute need to “fix it,” to be with him until he “turned back into” his other self. I read into it and saw her saying the thing about not driving often, because the officer kind of called her out on it — saying that he couldn’t let her know where he would be. Not that she would have gone to him, but knowing where he would be might be the only consolation if not being able to stay with him.
Just an idea that could be totally off the mark

I wanted to reach through the screen and (pat them each on the head). I was furious after watching that first video.
They are just too pleased with themselves. Too idolized, I guess, but in previous videos they've been just as sloppy establishing the facts of the case before expounding. She was hiding her midriff to protect her ovaries! A genetically dictated reaction! OMG. Please check out an anatomy book, guys.

I've wondered if Stan (granddad) wasn't the one she called while in the cop car in MOAB. I have yet to see who she was talking to, may have missed it, things do move fast here.

She told the officer she was on the phone with her mother.

Maybe I've watched too many TV shows and movies, but I've wondered what impact it would have on the parents being silent if the FBI showed up and made them look at the crime scene photos.

Because he told them what he did. So they got a lawyer who told them not to talk.
I mean, who wants to say, "Oh, I thought she was just fine when I took her phone and the van and left her behind." ?
It may be, that they didn't really realize what he had done until her remains were found. Or at least at first, anyway, and up through the first day the Petitos were trying to get in touch with them, maybe they really thought they had had yet another passionate breakup. During the 18 months they lived in North Port, apparently they had done that at least 10 times where Gabby went somewhere else to live, if only for a few days.

It seems likely they might have thought well, this is it. Finally these two have had enough of each other, and Gabby will find her way back to her family and we'll deal with her car somehow.

I don't know this, but I'm betting Brian didn't tell them he had killed her.

Ita, but everyone keeps saying he ran home to mom. I keep getting a daddy vibe. I think dad’s the driving force behind protecting his son at all costs. Kind of like the vibe from Brandon Theesefeld’s pappy. Jmo
For me, it's a replay of Scott Petersons mother......

We don't know what evidence that the FBI has or doesn't have. They may charge him with her murder the minute they find him. They may have his DNA. They aren't going to disclose that evidence to us until trial.

They all had an air of superiority about them that oozed in slow motion the whole video. They were too busy trying to showcase their self-made expertise. If you notice, each one of them had prepared ahead of time and took notes. How in the world they missed the tell-tale signs is beyond me. From the first time I laid eyes on Brian, I could see the body language.

When I read the above, if it’s true, I go back to wondering if he maybe really did kill himself in the swamp….

It's a possibility, yes, but there is an awful lot of time, resources, and money involved in these searches for BL. It seems to suggest that LE has a good reason to believe BL is alive. I don't know; what do you all think?

So something happened to them or they did something late at night on that date at that location? What could it be? Why were they there?

Somebody pulled all the criminal incidents or contact with law enforcement for that family, and these reports came back. So the report somehow involves either the dad, the mom, or Brian or all three. I don't know what it is because it's redacted, but it happened at an address down the street from the reserve.

This article is paywalled for me. Are you able to paraphrase the content? TIA
A third redacted report —incident No. 21-054246, at 11:22 p.m. dated Sept. 18 notes a “suspicious incident” at the intersection of Balboa Terrace and Delmar Drive in North Port.

Delmar Drive is a bit of a beaten trail of a road that drags along Big Slough in the middle of North Port. There are no homes on Delmar Drive; and only a handful along Balboa Terrance

Because abused women are scared and embarrassed to seek out help?
Yes, I understand, but in the poster’s scenario BL didn’t harm her, he simply left her alone.

Whatever it was, if it was redacted it must be pertinent to the case. Which is very intriguing. IMO.

No, obviously there's no real excuse for that. But they did what they did. They went into self-protection mode.

(I do want to add that I am curious how many calls/texts GP's family sent. We say they were literally begging for information, but we don't know *exactly* what they said, how often they said it. Did they call twice? Twenty times? How ignorable were their calls, if - let's just imagine-- you are BL's parents and he's told you something about how awful GP is, and how intrusive her parents are?)
