Do you have any theories on what it could be?
Many. But we are not allowed to sleuth outside of POI or Gabby so I must behave myself. I have said before that Gabby being involved in at least the Bumble app instantly makes her a target for predators. The vanlife is also rife with some creeps along the way, easy to get caught up with during camp times....my own personal experience here as a hard core introvert, still ended up in, well, interesting situations and groups.

I don't believe she was left alone when Brian went home for the "storage" trip. So who was there as "acting as a support system"? And no, it wasn't just her dad on video call for 5 days. No way. So who? We don't know and can't sleuth publicly here outside the guidelines.

<modsnip>

All weird, stays weird...we just don't have enough pieces. And maybe we shouldn't. Cassie said, the world does NOT need to know what the FBI knows. Why? Who is being protected by the FBI or by not releasing some additional information? I can guess. It isn't Brian or his family, they have been beaten every which way and sideways. Maybe rightfully so, maybe not. I do NOT know. Thank you for asking me. Sigh.

All of this is my crazy opinion ONLY!

They found the external drive in the van while they had it and the search warrant was for the external drive, found inside. jmo
I thought they took the van on the 11th?

Finally found a source (DM though) ...

Sept. 11: Schmidt reports Petito missing to authorities in New York; Petito and Laundrie's van was impounded by police in Florida that same day

911 call is released of hiker, 53, who had 'no doubt' he was stopped in his car by Brian Laundrie | Daily Mail Online

Laundrie family changes story on when they last saw Brian

Oct 5, 2021 • The Laundrie family attorney Tuesday said Brian Laundrie’s parents now believe they last saw him Sept. 13, a day earlier than they’d previously told investigators.

I agree. I suspected so from the beginning just because that part of their fairy tale didn't make sense. Now it is glaringly apparent that the mustang was placed in that parking lot by anyone other than BL. IMO.
Okay, if they lied, and previously we had discussed about penalties for leading LE on a wild goose chase. if this is the case, would there be repercussions? If the truth is ever revealed and this is found to be true--what happens?? I say this too because 2 guys lit off flares on a boat to celebrate their friends wedding and i costs the USCG 104K to do the search (for one night) and they were fined. Just throwing it out there. JMO.

Yes. Let him face the consequences of his behavior and get dealt with accordingly. GP deserves that and her family deserves that.

Gabby Petito update: FBI’s decision to hold victim’s remains, cause of death ‘very unusual,’ Dr. Baden says

I think information is being held back because it is information only Brian would know. FBI needs to interrogate him to see if he slips up and gives out that type of information that only he knows.

I think they see him as a "tough nut to crack."

Argh at :53 Brian says
“Brian Laundries sister Gabby Petito”.

this case is getting too confuzzling for everyone

Brian Laundrie stole, used Gabby Petito's credit card and 'ran from' police: family attorney

But speaking to what he saw as Laundrie’s "state of mind" as portrayed by Laundrie’s actions, Stafford described how Laundrie "stole her credit card."

"He used her credit card to get home and then ran from the police," Stafford continued. "That's going to show a lot what he was thinking back then."

Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino declined to comment.

The Brian Enron Twitter page has a video with the mustang at the house on the date they said it was at the Reserve. I’m sure the video caused their Attorney to correct the timeline. I’d LOVE to see the FBI timeline!
Same! I once applied to be a PC at the local constabulary and they deemed me 'too nice'. TBH after the interviews I was a wreck! So they made a good call. It was 20 years ago when I was a mere 26 yo. Now, they recruit detectives without on-the-beat experience, if anyone is interested in UK-crime solving!

But, yes. JB (WFLA) intimated that we are getting info three weeks old, after the FBI. Sometimes it's easy to get caught-up in what we are watching and talking about, and we need to keep coming back to why we are here.

It's such a good cause that Gabby's family are pursuing. There are several missing-person cases in England that haven't got as much traction abroad. Andrew Gosden. Ruth Wilson. Claudia Lawrence. Very intriguing cases, if you want to get down another rabbits-ville x

I see the lawyer confirmed the trip home now.

ETA: This flight makes no sense to me. Who paid for it? What was important enough that a storage unit needed to be emptied while on a planned cross-country trip?? And honestly, you could pay someone to empty a storage unit for less than the price of a plane ticket. The timing seems to fit in with things going downhill potentially in BL’s and Gabby’s relationship so it’s just very odd to me. Did he have time to think and plan hurting her? Did she take the time away to decide she wanted to be done with the relationship?

My theory? I think that they fought hard and he flew home… period. They broke up and he knowingly left her stranded with the van. No other reason for this return trip. A totally manipulative tactic. He left her “needing” him. However, in the ensuing days, they both possibly agreed that he should come back to drive the van home. He went back for that express purpose… and/or he went back hoping that by stranding her he could manipulate her into staying with him.

I also think that they (the laundries) knew she’d be back for her stuff so they started clearing it out. You know?… separating her stuff from his, etc. I do think the reason they used for moving her stuff out of the storage shed was changed after her murder to cover up the major relationship troubles they were having. I actually believe that his parents thought they were broken up when he flew home so they helped move/separate her stuff… innocently enough. It also doesn’t sound good to admit there were serious problems right before she was murdered. However, returning just to casually move stuff, seems like a pretty bad cover up (even before the fact of the murder) and I can’t imagine how they thought that was a good excuse.
This is just how I make sense of his returning home in the middle of their trip. MOO

What could the FBI know that the world does not need to know? Is this any of our business? No. But....her brother made it the business of outsiders.

I see a pattern though, I think this is what this family believes, that this is nobody's business what is going on. As if... as if they could just secretly figure it all out and take care of things. Surprise! A murder cannot be a private affair, even though that is how a murderer would prefer it, I am sure.

After ALL the publicity and chaos that is going on in their lives AND after the facts of GP being found deceased, how can his mother not say something? How can she remain fixated on her silence. Granted, she may not know specifically where he is, but... she knows the how, the when and where she last saw him and of course she
knows why he went away.

I do not believe for one second that he said , Hey Ma! I gotta take a break, I need you to buy me a new phone and help me disappear for a while and she just said. Ok Dear, here is some money and supplies. See ya when I see ya.

No, I think it went more like this. They are gonna blame me for something Ma, and I have to get away. I need your help. And mom said, Ok but I don't want you telling me where you are going and I don't want to know any of the details. So if anyone asks, I can say I don't know where you are and I don't know anything.

That is why I believe the mustang was left where it was and she took it from there.... 911... My boy is missing...
They had a plan IMO - But it was done in such a fashion that she really was ignorant of the magnitude of what had transpired and so dates seem to be off. BUT of course we are not LE or FBI and obviously they have better details which I am sure include phone records for GP and BL as well as whatever he was purchasing using her cards... there is a trail...Thankfully.

A poster posted that he is probably hiding in plain sight. I have been thinking this all along as well.

There's also quite an age gap between them, right? Didn't I see that she's 32 or something? So they probably weren't playmates. She *may* have been a second Mom to him, but you're right. I don't think they are close at this point in their lives. Remember, Gabby was the one sending postcards to CL's kids, not Brian.

Yes, I think they're about 10yrs apart in age.

My hunch could be completely wrong, but in her interview when she was stood on her front lawn with her husband, Cassie stated that she'd lost her brother, her parents, and her future sister-in-law/aunty to her kids.

When asked what she meant by 'her parents' she said they're not talking to her, they've effectively shut her out (see 0:55 in the News Nation Now clip
)

Maybe she sees BL as the person who has caused all of this mess and right now, she has a lot of anger directed at him.

The scenario may be as follows:

He was the favourite growing up, he always got all the attention, he was always the one who could do no wrong in his parent's eyes, he came along and she was suddenly sidelined.

Now he's caused her to lose her future sister-in-law/auntie to her kids, and also lose her parents, because they're no longer speaking to her as a result of what he's done as they have to protect 'poor Brian'.

All because of Brian. Again.

Maybe the resentment she's harboured over the years is what has caused her to go against the grain and speak out.

MOO

Wow! I had not seen that in the press until now. I agree it would have to be due to not wanting everyone to have the info that only her killer would know. Which is VERY interesting considering how cut and dry this case appears thus far. I can assume that, when a homicide has had as much press coverage as this case has had, there are the crazies who would try to claim that they had participated in the crime, if only to briefly appear in headlines. IMO.
