I would have thought strangulation, too, but for the fact that the coroner was so quickly able to call it a homicide. It seems like there are probably some very obvious signs. I don't know what the acoustics are out there on that creek. Sometimes when you're near water, you can hear every sound anyone makes, but other times, it seems like the water covers the sound and stops it from carrying. I'll be interested in knowing the answer when the information is made public.

IIRC from a local being interviewed, he said that it was some kind of hunting season out there and that hunters would be checking out their guns. He said that a lot of target practice would be going on so any gunfire would have been ignored.

Here's an article originally published on 9/13. It references a photo of Chris Laundrie mowing his lawn on Monday (which would be the 13th) and shows the front of the Laundrie home (sans Mustang).

SBM just for length. Thank you for this!

He took.off when her parents started.calling!
I think he snuck out a d his parents never.knew!
Maybe he left.a note.
I could actually go for this.

I just can not get past:

1. GP's parents accused her boyfriend’s family of withholding information on her whereabouts, as they slammed their silence as “infuriating.”

2. Petito’s family has twice pleaded with Laundrie and his family to cooperate in the probe.

3. Here is a quote, it show much of their disposition: "Gabby lived with you for over a year,” it said. “She was going to be your daughter-in-law. How can you keep her location hidden?”

4. Petito’s parents also sent a letter to the Laundries, reiterating that “we believe you know the location where Brian left Gabby.”

5. The lawyer added, “They’re at the point that that desperation has turned to anger. They know that the Laundries know where their daughter is, and they will not tell them. That’s infuriating.”

Gabby Petito's family says Brian Laundrie's parents know where she is

Question for the legal types: if BL were to now reappear and claim the above as his alibi, how would that likely fare legally?

I mean, we all know his behavior since her death is telling, psychologically, but legally would it play any role if he simply attributed his and his parents' lack of appropriate response to "panic" and leaned consistently on the alibi?

TIA for informed opinions.
Would it not depend on the evidence collected at the scene of the crime?
Legally, I would imagine it would be his defence. The state (or I think in this case the government?) would need to prove that B did commit the crime. If there is evidence at the crime scene that leads to the conclusion that B did commit the crime, then his defence (alibi) would fail.

Of Note:
-Move on from bickering
-Let go of the domestic violence debates
-Stop bringing in mental health

(SBM)I know there isn't a lot of new stuff to discuss, but are people reading these at the beginning of every thread?

I saw some of the threads, but I wonder why I have not seen a police report from the person that made the call. Did you see a name associated with the phone call? So far I have not found one. LE knows who he is as they have his phone number.
would it not be in either of the two officers police reports?

I’ve now come to the conclusion BL is just a punk who has had help on his run - I do think he’s north and the preserve was a “well done”play by the lawyer …
JMO

Unfortunately, I can not give a million LIKES for this. Yes, BL and SB are both punks. MOO

I don't think that's what's happening at all. We can say that her physical violence was wrong without blaming her for her own murder. She didn't deserve this and if he had any case for self-defense he and his attorney would've claimed it.
I hear you but the Moab incident was weeks before her death. It was not the cause of her death. I think that they just got caught and reported on for the public display of one of their many fights and we really do not know who instigated the fights. There were likely many fights like that in the two weeks leading up to her death (with a reprieve from the 17th to the 23rd). So, analyzing each fight is fruitless, at least, as I see it. There clearly was a pattern established, we know that. And the last fight resulted in her death. jmo

I get your point - I had something similar. However, I think today's 20 soethings live and think differently. Those I know tend to live in the moment and don't have much thought to the future. Also, they lease or rent most things, whereas, we used to save to buy.
Agree. I have 7 nieces in this age range and not one of them has ever had a hope chest.

It was originally posted at 16:07 (4:07 p.m.). I've been hung up on the 12th and 13th dates, so I've been trying to really narrow down that time frame. So here's some research I've done.

I was able to find a daily weather history on WeatherUnderground for Punta Gorda, which is approximately 18 miles away. It showed light rain starting at 5:49 p.m. and ending somewhere between 6 and 6:30 p.m.

For Venice Muni Station, which is approximately 14.5 miles, it reported thunder beginning around 3:15, heavy rain at 3:55 pm. and continuing off and on until about 7:15 p.m.

If the article was posted on the 13th at approx. 4:00 p.m., then the photos had to have been taken earlier in the day. Taking into consideration the afternoon rain beginning around 3 p.m., we can safely assume they were taken before 3.

WeatherUnderground also reflects a high of 91 degrees at noon, so I would venture to guess they were taken the morning of the 13th because he wouldn't want to cut grass in the middle of the day. Clearly that is an assumption, and I am still trying to narrow that down.

We also have this video from Fox 13 at 6:03 p.m. I'm basing the p.m. off the fact that the news anchor says at the beginning "developing tonight." She then flips to one of their reporters who is live in front of the home. The Mustang is not there, the Dodge truck is.

There is a second video from Fox 13 during their 10 p.m. broadcast and they go back to the same reporter who is live again in front of the Laundrie home.

I took a screenshot of the second video and turned the exposure WAY up in an attempt to see the background. There's probably a much better way to do this and achieve better results, but I was trying to do it on the fly. It looks like the truck is in the background.

Something that caught my attention - if you look at the first video from the 6 p.m. broadcast, the truck is backed directly underneath the camper. In the second broadcast, if I am right in what I'm seeing, the truck is now facing the camper and possibly a little more towards the left. I uploaded both photos for reference. If that's true, then obviously the truck was moved at some point between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
GREAT work and thank you for doing it!

North Port is a circus and it’s not its fault. This is so distracting for law abiding citizens. How are neighborhood children gonna remember all of this someday?

Im wondering because, someone please correct me if Im wrong, no one has seen a picture or video of BL since the Moab incident. If he took money from an ATM (of which most have cameras), if there is video of him at the Benton, IL gas station stop, if there is video from the AT&T store, if there is surveillance video from the Fort DeSoto Campground, does any of it show markings on BL that could possibly be attributed to another physical altercation between he and GP after Moab. Newer scratches, bruising, whatever. Has any of those pics or videos yet been released? I dont recall seeing any,

I am sure I remember seeing a surveillance photo on a local news report about the Benton sighting that was linked in a different web forum. I just went back to that post and followed the link to the local report but the link is now broken. FWIW the image I remember was just a surveillance still and was lower quality than the photos CL recently provided. I don't think any of these more recent pictures are high quality enough to determine if BL had injuries. MOO

I am convinced if Brian is found he will confess, just like he did to his parents. IMO.

For the record, even if a woman kicks a guy in the *****s, does not give him the right to kill. But, I do want the truth of what happened, as do Gabby's parents.

Brian Laundrie manhunt: What makes a case 'cold'?
''Some social media users are suggesting the manhunt for fugitive Brian Laundrie is already becoming a "cold case," meaning law enforcement has no new leads on his location.''

''He added that "most agencies would not consider a case cold only a month in" regarding the search for Laundrie and that "there is still a lot that investigators can be doing."

"As long as leads and tips are coming in, I am confident the case is not cold," he said''

Why hasn’t Brian Laundrie been charged with a more serious crime? “I think it’s coming.” – Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg says. He also explains why the full autopsy report hasn’t been released. And what would it take for Brian’s parents to be charged?
