This is just so unbelievable to me - we know a gun wasn't used in her murder - which I thought was a reason to continue searching - do they really have proof he's in there? are they looking for a body? I'm at a loss now with these continued searches of this place. Maybe the phones are there?
JMO
I agree. I believe the parents drove the mustang there, left it until it had a ticket on it, and then retrieved it. That way it would have a paper trail to having been there. I think it was a purposeful plant to keep LE busy so Brian could get a good head start.

That's hindsight thinking. We know she is dead now so we see it as a normal thing to call police when we think someone is hiding a crime. But on Sept 10, they had only recently begun thinking that it's strange she hasn't contacted them. Would you call the police to go ask the parents of your future son in law if they knew where the kids were or would you take a short drive and ask them yourself first.
My guess is.call.the police because no one will.answer me!

You’ve misinterpreted my comment. I’m not addressing the September 2021 activity. I’m referencing the “ever” part of the disassociation.
NEVER means just that. If there is an EVER, then NEVER is a flat-out lie. I believe the Petito's lawyer. If I am wrong to believe his statement, then, I am wrong. jmo

We just don’t have the information to understand why they keep insistently, urgently searching in there, I’m afraid. :(

Has anyone heard of the FBI ever announcing to the MSM, that they are allowing and agreeing to a family members' 'assist' in a search for a fugitive?

  • #668
We don't know what type of evidence the FBI has, but it is IMO very compelling since this is where they keep searching. I speculate that they could have digital pings, trail cam footage, sightings that have not been made public, drone footage.
They're out with K9 team again today on the Venice side. Must have evidence tying him to that side at some point too. There was also a YT video posted yesterday of a local doing FLIR on some abandoned cabins in that area showing what they thought was moving heat signature, they reported to FBI yesterday, so maybe they are out there to try and catch a fresh scent? Or completely unrelated...

SBM:
When fugitives are found quickly, it is usually a result of staying with family or friends.

Hopefully, the FBI is monitoring his parents finances and looking for mysterious payments. I personally doubt his parents are sending money, however. I suspect when the whole situation became clear, he was told to leave but given a head start, but specifically told not to return.

The Laundries have a business. Maybe a new employee is on the payroll.

so just a thought. The Laundries own a business, buy and sell real estate... is it possible SB represented the Laundries in the past for some of their work dealings and they knew, as a friend, he would help? My thought is the lawyer was 'hired' when LE knocked on the door and were told to talk to their lawyer. Didn't sound like there was even enough time for LE to explain why they were there before they were handed the lawyer's number. MOO

SB noted a while back that he has represented the family over the last 20 years for various reasons, most likely real estate, so it would make sense that they would reach out to him initially.

Cassie said on GMA she wished she'd been able to talk to BL. That was reported by ABC as she had not seen BL after he returned home on Sept 1 but she didn't say that. Then it came out she'd been at Ft. DeSoto Park one day and the press pounced-- Liar, liar! No, not really. Crappy reporting based on assumptions by the ABC reporter. It was assumed if she didn't talk to BL she hadn't seen him. But as was discussed extensively here on WS, the context of the entire interview makes clear she was not caught in a lie, at least IMO. One can easily imagine a day with the kids was not conducive to a heart to heart talk. And she may not have felt the need for one then anyway. For all we know she assumed it was just a breakup-- plenty of people have said GP & BL had a dramatic volatile relationship. And CL didn't see BL after it came out GP was missing.

ABC Exclusive: Full interview with Brian Laundrie's sister on Gabby Petito
Moo I see it as even simpler than that. She was asked what she thought was odd about all this. To her "all this" was what was happening since it blew up in the media. She says that she hasn't been able to talk to him. And then the next sentence was her blaming it on the attorneys. So she was saying she hadn't been able to talk to him about all this since the attorneys got involved.

There's been much mentioned about BL coming home to empty the storage locker. Could it be something as simple as the GP and BL had the key. Not sure how willing the locker people would have been to open it for CL. Unless of course it was in the parents name.
As to why LE is adamant to search the Reserve, while I don't think he's there, LE must have some type of credible evidence he is. I hope. That's a lot of money and destruction looking for someone who may not even be there. I understand it's a small price to pay to get justice for Gabby. JMO

If they needed the key, couldn't it have been mailed to them? FexEx or UPS would have been a lot cheaper than an airplane ticket.

I don't think it is at all unreasonable to think that GP's father never visited the Laundrie home. I would think that GP and BL would visit JP at his home. I see this as quite normal.

I think they must have pretty good information that he is probably dead in that swamp and want to find the body before nature erases all sign of him (if that is possible) and then they have an open case forever. No LE agency anywhere seems to be putting to much effort into the various BL sightings other than telling the public all is well.

We have to consider that the FBI/local law enforcement probably has wiretaps on all of the Laundrie's known phones including their business lines (both landline and cell). I also wonder if the FBI planted any listening devices in their home while they were there searching the home.

The Laundrie trip to the library in Orlando (IIRC the day the Mustang was returned to them) is curious.

This morning I find myself stewing over this…

when BL was in FL and GP was at the hotel in SLC, where was the van?

I imagine LE knows, but does anyone have any clues that I might have missed?
