They are both washed-up braggarts. This search is NOT about them! jmo
I agree. But there are a lot of people have been putting their two cents in to get part of the attention. I think it hit rock bottom when Dr. Oz became a crime reporting expert.

Moo I see it as even simpler than that. She was asked what she thought was odd about all this. To her "all this" was what was happening since it blew up in the media. She says that she hasn't been able to talk to him. And then the next sentence was her blaming it on the attorneys. So she was saying she hadn't been able to talk to him about all this since the attorneys got involved.
And I think I heard her say that she had thought of him as an uncle, for his having known the family for so long.....and was hurt that she had been cut off from her family at what she thought was his advice to them. jmo

This morning I find myself stewing over this…

when BL was in FL and GP was at the hotel in SLC, where was the van?

I imagine LE knows, but does anyone have any clues that I might have missed?

Likely parked at the hotel where Gabby was staying

That's hindsight thinking. We know she is dead now so we see it as a normal thing to call police when we think someone is hiding a crime. But on Sept 10, they had only recently begun thinking that it's strange she hasn't contacted them. Would you call the police to go ask the parents of your future son in law if they knew where the kids were or would you take a short drive and ask them yourself first.
If you remember, at that time Gabby's parents thought both kids were missing. They had no idea Brian was back at the home. Given that the Laundries weren't responding to calls or texts, it would be far more reasonable to assume that JP thought either something had happened to the Laundries or that the Laundries weren't home.
If I weren't able to reach my child or their fiance I would call friends and the fiance's family. Especially if the couple were living with the fiance's family. I'd call and if they didn't answer, I'd assume they might be travelling. If they didn't return any calls after a few days, I'd send LE over rather than take a trip to knock on the door of an empty home.
Removing hindsight completely, this was a situation where Gabby's family were worried about both Brian and Gabby at the time and when Brian's family also wouldn't return calls, I'm sure they became worried about them as well. It wasn't until the North Port police went to the Laundrie home that Gabby's parents realized Brian was home and Gabby wasn't with him.

I agree. I keep coming back to the thought that if his parents and/or sister knew that he had literally squeezed the life out of his girlfriend with his bare hands around her throat, they would maybe not choose to have him spend the day around their grandkids/kids. I mean, I could be totally wrong in that thought process.

I wondered that as well. I thought maybe he left it at the airport. JMO

My guess is.call.the police because no one will.answer me!
As a father I would just drive over and ask personally. From what u gave seen of GOs father I thought he was the same type of person. It's just weird that you'd risk putting something as serious as calling the cops between a family that you would soon be hitched to through marriage without knowing more than we see has been reported

I think they must have pretty good information that he is probably dead in that swamp and want to find the body before nature erases all sign of him (if that is possible) and then they have an open case forever. No LE agency anywhere seems to be putting to much effort into the various BL sightings other than telling the public all is well.
It’s sure looking this way, yes. I hope they can find enough for closure at this point. I doubt there will be any trial.

It has to be telling LE/FBI keep going back to the reserve. They must strongly suspect or have quality evidence that is the only place he went. The complete lack of sightings or other evidence of him out there backs this up. I would doubt even the best survivalist/SAS/Navy Seal could keep entirely off grid and unsighted for 30+ days with a full FBI manhunt in 2021. Much less so a 23yo amateur backpacker.

I stand by BL going to great lengths to commit suicide at the reserve in such a way it would be very difficult/impossible for him to be found. I don't think the lawyer saying he represents BL has much meaning regards him being dead or alive unless there is a weird rule/law about that?

What information would conclusively indicate he is dead other than remains though? I do think it is more likely than not he is dead if he is currently in the reserve. Perhaps that is why the North Port side is open now, they are satisfied with the search for a body on that side?

Thanks. Sort of off-topic - I like this site better than the other tracker that seems to come up - the underlying map shows the boundaries of all the various parks that are a part of The Reserve that seems to be so confusing!

yeah I did mention in another thread the reserve is slightly confusing as its all broken up into different parts with different names

Very interesting. It seems to me that if BL did go to the reserve and never left that looking for human remains makes more sense now. If remains are found and identified as BL's then this is all over, no arrest, no trial, no verdict.

But the big question remaining in this scenerio would be did BL kill Gabby? I'm sure FBI has a mountain of evidence that we don't know about, but is it enough to convict him?? Or do the answers all die with him? I'm on the fence about whether he is dead or alive, but getting him alive might answer more questions. But dead puts a stop to it, although I personally wouldn't care if he is dead. jmo

Someone sent this to our family the other day. Thank you to the artist for making such a beautiful tribute to our daughter.

If that is the case, I sure hope he left a note. As morbid as this may sound, I'm pretty sure Gabbys parents would want/need to hear from BL what happened. JMO

when BL was in FL and GP was at the hotel in SLC, where was the van?

The clues:
- The Fairfield Inn where GP stayed has free parking and free shuttle to the airport (source)
- The airport overnight parking in the economy lot is $10/day (source)

Based on that, I think it's reasonable to assume that if BL's trip back to FL actually occurred (which, yes, I have my own doubts about), then it would have made the most sense for the van to be at the hotel with GP.

I also have my own suspicions, based on the weather near the Bonneville Salt Flats that week, that the drone footage of the van in the video she posted on Aug 19 (see especially around the 4:30 mark) may have been recorded on Aug 18 or 19, as those were the days that week that it was cloudy/overcast with poorer visibility.

ETA: It does look like the 15th and 16th had poor visibility as well--due to smoke from the California/Oregon fires (search here)--and it's just been pointed out to me that one of Gabby's Dyrt lists included a campground right on the edge of the Salt Flats (LINK), so the footage could have been taken then.

I keep forgetting to ask this question and hope someone could answer it.

Since we don't know where Gabby actually died, the possibility of it happening in the van is still in play.

I'm wondering after BL returned home if he dismantled the van completely, scrubbed it down, could cadaver dogs still smell the scent of a dead body?
I wondered if he strangled her in the van but she didn't die from it right away. It would explain why it was said there were no signs of a struggle at the site where they found her. Maybe at first he thought she was unconscious but then it became apparent that she wasn't going to live so he staged it to look like she was sleeping so if anyone drove by it wouldn't look suspicious. Maybe when it looked like she wasn't going to wake up he panicked and started hitchhiking but started thinking what if she *does* wake up and goes to the police so he went back and moved her out of the van? There would be no cadaverine in the van for the dogs to alert on.
