Why would he have taken it with him?100%. The notebook is going to be a huge disappointment and probably contain only drawings MOO
He did fly down at least once from what I recall, but Brian pretty much went missing almost as soon as the case blew up huge
SB met the laundries in orlando on 9/23, the day after the warrant for BL was issued...
Brian Laundrie's parents shadowed by undercover agents on 150-mile trek to meet attorney
Could be that he arrived at the Reserve later to solidify the parent's story (bc lying to the FBI is a crime in itself), or could be this: Found Deceased - WY - Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Petito, 22, Grand Teton National Park, 25 Aug 2021 #78 (<-- because they visited him that week before the press really honed in per @simplemind So they did, in fact, know where he was - at least in the beginning.)
MOO JMO
I think you are right. But if they DIDN'T that's purely hindsight and speculation. And I feel that's spinning wheels. Much speculation based completely on hindsight. It also seems people think if it is posted over and over it will become fact and I just have to rely on facts that we have been given. Albeit they are few...I think that if they DID it would have been a more concentrated search from the beginning, come hell or high water. Do I know that they did not> No. I do not know. jmo
Remember CaL said that her parents and BL turned up on 1st Sept to see the kids unplanned. Perhaps it was mentioned then that GP hadn't come back with BL (potential break-up) and so when CaL tells the kids they're all going camping that "Auntie Gabby" won't be there mooI think the police coming to the house on Sept 11 triggered panic. Remember, he was fine on the family camping trip a few days earlier according to Cassie.
One thing still really bothers me. Cassie said the topic of where Gabby was never came "because her kids were there". I find it odd that the kids did not ask about Gabby or where she was. By all accounts she was very fond of Cassie's kids and they of her.
I figured that Cassie warned the kids not to ask about Gabby, because she and uncle Brian had an argument and he feels bad and doesn't want to talk about it. Something like that. jmoI think the police coming to the house on Sept 11 triggered panic. Remember, he was fine on the family camping trip a few days earlier according to Cassie.

Why would he have taken it with him?
The parents didn't find him.
Bold by me. I'm sure that's what he said in the Banfield interview, but there is this. I guess he forgot.Could be, but I'm pretty sure AB asked him in the interview and he said he was on Long Island the whole time, handled it all through the phone and FaceTime. Maybe I missed something. As much of a screwup as I think SB is, if he prioritized the Laundries he should have spent some in person time there. IMO.
I'm another who's hoping against hope that Brian's notebook is legible and that he detailed what went wrong and why he killed Gabby. Also if his intentions in the park were to remain a fugitive...then we'd see his writing trail off if he starved or was attacked by an animal. Conversely, did he instead write a suicide note.
I feel the need to know and I'm nobody, so I can't bear thinking of the Petito/Schmidt families and their need for closure.
Just my opinion but I'm convinced BLs parents knew exactly where he was from the very beginning and perhaps stayed in touch with him for awhile with a burner phone. Maybe the calls suddenly stopped. It seems obvious since he was skeletonized that he had deceased for awhile. I wonder how long he was dead before the flooding occurred. Could his body have been recovered intact if he was found sooner?
Kill himself? jmoNot to be sarcastic, but to draw in. I think he truly did enjoy drawing and sketching in nature. What else was he going to do there alone?
Yes but in my opinion he didn’t immediately kill himself. I don’t think we’ll ever know when exactly he died but I think sometime between 9/13 and 9/19 when Gabby was found or even a bit later are pretty reasonable guesses based on what we’ve heard the condition of his remains were. MooKill himself? jmo
I truly hope he left a final message. But the notebook may have already been in his pack. He may not have deliberately packed it.Why would he have taken it with him?
My opinion is that he wanted to get away from the questions coming at him from all sides, ie guilt and pressure to explain things. Likely from his parents, SB, GB’s parents, maybe CaL. I think he went to CR planning to lay low for a few days and wait it out but was still either in communication with someone/his parents or connected to the internet. He took the gun mainly for protection from wildlife but I think suicide was always a possibility. I think he was alive in CR for a few days, maybe even up until Gabby was found. At that point he knew his life was over so he killed himself. I do think he shot himself and the gun has been found. I can’t imagine reopening the reserve so quickly if they know there’s a missing gun out there. This is also why his parents didn’t report him missing at first, they were hoping he’d be home in a few days. All MOO
In the victim's stolen van!i dunno sorry but imoo you'd have to have less braincells than toes to have been told by your child they killed someone and the best advice you give them is to return to the crime scene. nah....
Maybe the father brought the dry bag and the notebook in to him, to try to raise his spirits, give him something creative to do. And left it there for BL, with food, water, cash, etc. I tend to think the father did talk with Brian that evening, but maybe he just left the bag and supplies and that's why he knew where to find them. IMOI truly hope he left a final message. But the notebook may have already been in his pack. He may not have deliberately packed it.
I have a bug out bag that I habitually take pretty much everywhere. It contains a notebook, but I've yet to write in it.
If he died by accident, he may never have written anything. But I do hope he did.

First bolded : Indeed.
SM: That is where the hate and vitriol may be, but it's not at all happening here at WS.
Speculation about changing timelines and possible or intentional muddying of the waters, yes.
Speculation about why the dates from the lawyer keep shifting ?
Speculation about how the parents were able to succeed and find Brian's belongings which ultimately led to finding his remains -- when LE and the combined forces including the fbi were unable to do so ?
Etc.
Yes, there are questions, and there should be.
Second bolded : I respectfully disagree.
Strangulation can take up to five minutes and there was time to change his mind and let Gabby go.
That is not only evil it's a monstrous act to inflict on another person, especially a young innocent lady he had once planned to marry and said that he loved.
The worst betrayal imaginable.
Gabby and her family are the only victims in this case.
No one else was murdered.
Imo.
