I almost think that the Laundries may be saying, well your daughter died by my son's hand and my son died by his own hand because he couldn't handle what he did. They hope it brings them peace because he's not living while she's dead. moo.
That sounds curiously close to the Watts parents claiming that they lost their son just like the Rzuceks "lost" their daughter. Imo

maybe the protesters will return until it's determined whether or not they will be charged.

I hope not, those protesters were a nuisance to the street. Wonder what happened to the frivolous sign lawsuit that a protestor filed against Chris Laundrie?

Of course you can believe whatever you like but the post was about whether criminal charges that carry prison time upon conviction could be brought against the L's. So it surely appears jail/prison was being discussed, not merely some vague idea of "accountability." But if we are talking about accountability, accountability to whom? The public? The L's don't owe the public anything.

JMO
I did not see the part in Gabby's family statement about charges that carry prison time. Where did you see that?
Accountability for hindering the search for Gabby by not revealing where their son last saw her, hoping that her body would not be found and hindering the search for her.
If not for the Red, White and Bethunes, her body may still be lying out there. MOO.

Was it dismissed for being "frivolous"? I don't care if there are protesters there or not, I really couldn't care any less, so I don't follow any protester lawsuits. Did we ever find out if the Laundries burned the signs with Gabby's photo, or did they just throw them in the garbage?

Imo

IMO, if BL went to the Carleton with a gun that they knew was missing, and was acting upset (which they have confirmed previously he was acting "sad" IIRC) AND (this being the key IMO) they knew something was going on with GP as her parents were trying to reach them then they should be charged. MOO

That's an awful lot of IFs!! And an awful lot to prove in court. And an awful lot of effort for a conviction of what? Assisted suicide?

Personally I think the one day of calls from GP's family is legally irrelevant. And so far as I know, no one ever claimed to be trying to call CL, only RL. So charging "them" would be a bit iffy if the Petito calls are really your key piece of evidence.

Was there even a gun found at the Reserve? Such little information has been released. Seems they would have found a gun when they found his remains.
They didn't say everything they found at the reserve so they probably did find it IMO

I don't know if it was dismissed. The city got rid of the signs because they were in the way.

Ahead of severe weather, police takes down signs near Laundrie home

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - According to Josh Taylor, spokesperson for the City of North Port and North Port Police, signs violating city ordinances outside the home of the Laundrie family were removed ahead of inclement weather.

"Ahead of severe weather today, the City of North Port has received several complaints about signs located on Wabasso Ave. Per City Sign Code and storm water code, these signs are in violation and are not allowed in the road right-of-way,” Taylor told ABC7.

On wfla now…
“A Brian Laundrie with a matching birthdate of Brian Laundrie, um, did take the written test, that is the first step to becoming a police officer. But he never entered into a, uh, police recruiting class. So there was some time over the last two or three years, interest from Brian Laundrie to become a police officer…he did pass”

No one has said that they should go to jail, but there has been all through this case of people not being held accountable for their actions, starting with the disgraceful Moab incident and culminating in their refusal to tell Gabby's parents where BL last saw her, IMO hoping to put off finding her body. IMO they conspired in this with him. I will never believe that they did not know that he had murdered her. MOO.
I could not agree with this opinion more- I believe they knew and told him to come back asap to Florida - with his suicide I doubt his phone records will ever be released. Unless a wrongful death lawsuit is filed which I'm hoping it is. I would want to know every detail of her last days - and her killer's..

what should they be charged with?

Do you have a link to say it was only one day of calls? And that they did not call CL?

Anyone know the last time anyone heard from Cassie? I was trying to look and it seems we have seen nothing from her since she did the interview with her husband. Is that correct?
She was on gma the following morning, then nothing that I have seen. And I have been looking. Did a deep dive on all things Cassie in just this last week.
Moo.

I would prefer death to life in prison. And I think in the long run, that might be the easier choice for my family, as well.

People do have different ideas on this.

At the very least, it looks like there will be more information forthcoming from the FBI. I have been afraid we would never really hear anything more officially about this case.

The FBI must do something eventually: declare this a cold case (not going to happen), or clear the case (they can't close it, as there is no legal ending to it).

They will clear it (and one of our gracious lawyers and some knowledgeable WSers posted on this thread or a recent one).

Clearing means that the FBI is satisfied that the right defendant is named, but there can be no trial (due to their death or some other reason). They basically organize a case against a dead person, run it by various internal procedures, and then pronounce the case cleared (not closed).

That's what we're waiting for.

All I know is what was widely reported by the MSM. NS said she texted BL early on. But the 10th is the day she said they called "everyone" they could think of (naming RL and Cassie but not Chris) then called LE.

Even if it was two days, failure to answer one's telephone or respond to texts is not a crime.

Objectively we need a spent bullet that matches the gun missing from the home. Otherwise...I have questions.

By DAVID FISCHER, Associated Press

MIAMI — Brian Laundrie, who was found dead last month in a Florida swamp, shot himself in the head, officials announced Tuesday.

Laundrie had been the subject of a manhunt for more than a month as investigators searched for clues in the slaying of his girlfriend, Gabby Petito, during their cross-country van trip together.

The medical examiner in Sarasota County, where Laundrie's body was found, said in a news release that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was suicide.
