Opening statements Monday, Nov. 27. Pretty daunting to see SEVEN defendants with their attorneys all going on trial at the same time. I've never covered a case that had that many defendants. 8 attorneys (includes prosecutor) can potentially question every witness.

Some people call the tanks there “animal habitats.”Naw. Go see if for yourself. They are tanks.

The Miami Seaquarium - where Lolita the Orca died in August - has many problems involving animal care and facilities, according to a Federal report.A dolphin ate concrete in a crumbling tank.

The first New York City Marathon in 1970 had 127 registered runners, and winners got wristwatches and recycled trophies. Today's marathon sees more than 50,000 runners running 26.2 miles across NYC, with $894,000 in prize money at stake for the pros.

Under Florida law, "no person shall knowingly offer to purchase or sell ... any human organ or tissue for valuable consideration." Eyes, corneas, kidneys, livers, hearts, lungs, pancreases, bones and skin are subject to the rule.

Officials have not said whether anyone will face charges in connection with the discovery of the skull at the thrift shop.

In September, a human skull was reported in a donation box at an Arizona Goodwill store. In that case, the responding police department said the medical examiner's office determined the skull was likely not related to a criminal case.

LONDON (AP) — Four men were charged Monday over the theft of an 18-carat gold toilet from Blenheim Palace, the sprawling English country mansion where British wartime leader Winston Churchill was born.

The toilet, valued at 4.8 million pounds ($5.95 million), was an artwork titled “America” and intended as a pointed satire about excessive wealth by Italian conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan. It was part of an art installation at Blenheim Palace, near the city of Oxford, a few days before it vanished overnight in September 2019.

Mother, army veteran completes Pacific Crest Trail hike in record time

Updated: 1:37 PM PST November 8, 2023

SEATTLE — The Pacific Crest Trail is a 2,650-mile trek from the Canadian border down to the California-Mexico border.

"The PCT has roughly 500,000 feet of climbing, which is roughly climbing Mt. Everest 17 times," hiker Jessica Pekari said.

It tests even the best hikers. Only a couple hundred achieve the feat each year and spend an average of five months to complete it.

Conservationist Mike Elfenbein was at Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida with his teen son hunting for pythons when they both spotted the largest snake they had ever seen slithering across the gravel road.

"It was more than a snake, it was a monster," Elfenbein told CBS News. Elfenbein said he occasionally hunts Burmese pythons in the 729,000-acre preserve but had never seen a snake that large.
