I must admit that I have concerns about this verdict. You never know what a jury will decide. All it takes is one juror. If it's one thing I've learned over the years it's that it is never a "slam dunk" for a verdict. Although I have decided that he is guilty based upon the evidence presented, some jurors may not consider the circumstantial evidence. Heck, some jurors don't even consider video evidence of crimes.

One thing I'm certain of: ZA will not be aquitted. So the worst that will happen IMO is a mistrial where the jury can't unanimously decide and the state tries ZA again.

However, I am optimistic that this jury will convict.

Really miss the old CourtTV where I could watch, listen and still get something done at the same time. Yesterday my desktop screen went black but sound worked. My laptop audio stopped but screen is ok. So, now I have volume up in office in back of house trying to listen while I check the screen on my laptop once in a while to read posts but I'm still not getting anything done.

I agree. I was reading last night (a downward spiral of article after article) about jury sequestration. I read how sometimes they form a "group mentality" b/c they are pretty much only spending time with and talking to each other (non trial of course) which is why we sometimes have quick verdicts from these big trials. I can only hope if there are a couple who are unsure once they start that they can be persuaded by the finish.

The state hasn't proven to me exactly who was in the carport. Until they can; I think he will be acquitted, sadly.

JMO but until it is proven for a fact WHO was in the carport, there will always be debate regarding CB's statements regarding what he saw that morning.

CB's description given did NOT fit ZA, DA or JA, but IMO it did somewhat fit SA's description ...

So until it is proven as to who was THE "Camo Man," Unfortunately there will always be doubt regarding CB's statements.

Felony Murder Rule: hand of one, hand of all. All 4 were involved with HB at various points. All 4 participated in HB's disappearance and demise. Not one of them helped her or let her go at any point. All left can be convicted of first degree kidnapping and murder. Rape might only apply to 2 of them left. The law doesn't change just because someone can't understand it.

Yep. At one time we actually saw the agreement posted online. In it, SA was getting immunity for anything after death (which I take as basically being about disposal), and as you note he was also getting forgiveness for other drug charges as well. I focused on disposal as the intent, because one of the conditions was that he tell where she was buried and it turns out to be true, but there certainly could have been other relatively-minor things after death as well.

So when someone says SA confessed to these crimes, that's pretty much claiming the opposite of the facts we know, of what he was admitting at the time. In the same document, he denied any involvement in the crimes that we're seeing mentioned in this trial, and the plea hinged on that lack of involvement.

But it specifically excluded immunity from administering drugs to Holly, right? Which, would be a pre-death thing?

I was just listening to a local reporter on Lawnewz - and he said people in the community think Clint knows more than he has said. Not that he was involved, but he knows more. He said even the investigators and prosecutors believe that.

JMO but I do NOT believe Clint was involved, however, I truly believe he knows more ...

I have followed this case from day 1. I was new to WS at that time, so I did not comment much in the beginning because IMO, Clint's "story" never made sense at all. Also, I did not want to violate the rules here regarding victims/family of victims, etc. so I really did not say much. But I read here, read at other forums, etc. And I kept coming back to the same conclusion: something is not right with Clint's story.

The biggest to me is this: Clint saw Holly walking the woods with "camo man" but Clint does not mention Holly having her purse, lunch purse, books, papers, etc. while walking through the woods with "camo man." Yet these items were found all around town. So HOW did her belongings get thrown around town IF she was not carrying them when she was walking with "camo man"? Was there someone else waiting there? JMO but makes no sense.

At the trial, unflattering comments were "slipped in" about Clint ... I say where there's smoke, there's a fire.

It is unfortunate for Clint, as well as the rest of the family, that his statements have been debated since the get-go, and will be debated until the end of time - unless the TRUTH is told!

Although I agree there's been no other testimony that would support it, I actually think the meth class claim does a better job of explaining Clint's actions and reactions and explanations that morning. Flowing from it, he wasn't alarmed, and he didn't shoot anyone, and he wouldn't tell who it was, but maybe those oddities happened because he knew that the perps were there by his invitation, and he therefore figured it would all be okay eventually.

But even if we had reason to believe that story, it wouldn't help ZA at all to prove it. "Yes I kidnapped HB but you got the reason all wrong as to why I was there" isn't an argument worth offering. From CB's testimony, can we even put ZA at the scene of the kidnapping? CB obviously saw someone else, so no upside for ZA to put himself there for a different reason, if he was.

Yes, the meth class claim is a perfect Occam's razor explanation of events and mysteries that morning.

Oh I wasn't thinking acquittal, more possibility of mistrial.

ADA is talking about the Felony Murder Rule right now! Hand of one, hand of all. "Criminal Responsibility" Bank robbery example. All are in it together even if only one of them did the robbery or shot the guard.

Of course he got no immunity re HB, but that's not saying he did such things to her. He was claiming he did nothing to HB while she was alive. So while he was getting immunity for ANY AND ALL drug-related things he had done before, they explicitly made it clear he was getting no immunity for drugs that might have been done to her, if such things were later discovered to have been done.
