Zdzisław Najmrodzki was a famous Polish thief and criminal during the 1970s and 1980s. He escaped from authorities a total of 29 times, which earned him fame across Poland.

In 1974, at the age of 20, Najmrodzki was arrested for the first time for battering a police officer. While being transported by train with another prisoner for trial in Warsaw, he convinced the two police officers who were guarding the prisoners to remove his handcuffs and drink beer with him. After the officers fell aslee from drinking, Najmrodzki jumped out of a window and hid in his friend's house.

At one point, Najmrodzki created a distraction by recklessly driving to allow lorries with smuggled clothing to pass in Poland without examination. Later, he created a criminal group which robbed a total of 70 Pewex stores and sold their goods in markets. His group used a method called the "poster method" to break in: a member of the group would cut a hole in the store window and then cover it with a poster after entering. In 1980, he was arrested again. However, Najmrodzki managed to smuggle out a letter containing the blueprints of the building he was kept in.. His associates partially sawed off the window bars of the room he was kept in, which, on 23 July 1980, allowed Najmrodzki to break them and flee. In the early 1980s, Najmrodzki and his gang robbed a total of 100 FSO Polonez cars. The gang also broke into the town halls to steal blank documents and stamps that they later used to fabricate the cars' documentation. On 3rd March 1983, he was arrested again, but on 5th February 1985, he escaped. He did this by knocking out a police officer who was escorting him, stealing his handcuff keys and his ID, and using the ID to leave the police station. A year later, he got arrested and sent to a prison in Gliwice. However, his mother, together with his associate, dug a tunnel under the prison, while his mother regularly contacted him, reporting the status of work on the tunnel. After 3 weeks of work, Najrmodzki used the tunnel to escape on 3rd September 1989. He left a letter addressed to the warden in his cell, thanking him for his hospitality.

On 19 November 1989, Najmrodzki was arrested after driving drunk and causing a car crash in Krakow. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison on 3rd December 1990. However, on 15th November 1994, Najmrodzki was pardoned by Poland's president. After his release, Najmrodzki focused on farming and business instead of crime. However, on 31st August 1995, Najmrodzki died after recklessly driving and crashing a stolen BMW. His two passengers, sons of his friend, also died in the crash.
