Sources tell KATU News, Terri Horman led Kyron's teacher to believe he had a doctor's appointment that Friday morning. He didn’t. Kaine says Terri had been focused on Kyron's spaciness.

"I didn't see anything out of the ordinary," he says. "I wasn't concerned about it at all."

Kaine says Terri was the one who was pushing Kyron to a doctor to be checked out.

Kaine attributed the staring spells to sleep deprivation. In the weeks leading up to Kyron's disappearance, the baby – Kiara – had been dealing with an ear infection. He says her crying at night was keeping the whole family up, especially Kyron, whose room is right across the hall.

The infection plays a key role in what Terri claims she did after the science fair. Surveillance video shows she visited two different Fred Meyer stores to get medication for Kiara.

Then she says she spent roughly an hour and a half driving the back roads of Northwest Multnomah County to soothe her daughter as the medications kicked in.

Kaine says he’s never had to do that.

"I don't need to drive her around to put her to sleep or to get her to stop crying or anything else. I have not needed to do that once. I have yet to need to do that is about all that I can say," he says.

(CNN) -- June 4, 2010, was supposed to be just another day in second grade for Kyron Horman.

His stepmother told police that she'd dropped off the boy that morning at Skyline Elementary School in Portland, Oregon. But he hasn't been seen since he was spotted standing in front of his classroom's doorway, after having attended a science fair at the school.

Those 12 months have been trying not only for Horman's family, but also for the thousands of people -- many of them total strangers -- who have devoted their time, effort and prayers in hopes of finding Kyron.

Multnomah County judge extends restraining order Kaine Horman obtained against his wife, Terri Moulton Horman, through June 2012

"At Kaine Horman's request, a Multnomah County judge has renewed the restraining order that Kaine Horman obtained against his wife, Terri Lynn Moulton Horman, for another year, lasting through June 27, 2012, court records show.

Kaine Horman's divorce attorney, Laura Rackner, had faxed to the court a petition to renew the restraining order on June 27. Rackner attached a two-paragraph exhibit, a brief summary of the ongoing investigation into Kyron's disappearance, as an exhibit to support the one-year extension:

The exhibit said this:

"My son, Kyron, has been missing since June 4, 2010. I do not know where he is, if he has been harmed, or if he is alive. Local and federal law enforcement agencies are currently investigating my wife, respondent/Terri Horman, for her involvement in Kyron's disappearance. Terri Horman will not cooperate with law enforcement and will not assist in the search for Kyron. I believe that Terri Horman is responsible for Kyron's disappearance.

New searches are planned this weekend for evidence in the disappearance of Kyron Horman, who turns 9 on Friday.

Kyron's mother Desiree Young said Multnomah County Sheriff's Office will comb "key areas" that have not yet been searched.

"It's an active investigation," said Lt. Steve Alexander, spokesman for the sheriff's office. "We're continuing to pursue leads and tips."

He would not confirm that officials would be conducting searches this weekend.

"Kaine Horman is doing what he can to keep the search alive. Every weekend, he takes to the road, raising awareness about his missing son. He travels with boxes of buttons, bracelets and T-shirts to spread around Washington, Oregon and California.

"We need people to stay alert, remember what he looks like, remember that he's still missing," he said. "And we need to keep looking."

This week's work brought him to Seattle and Shoreline Stadium, where he played football as a boy."

"The parents of Kyron Horman hope several weekend events will generate new information in his disappearance.

Kaine Horman, Kyron’s father, said “it’s exactly the kind of thing we need, people staying involved and spreading the word.”

LE still hot on the case

The father of missing Portland boy Kyron Horman said the investigation continued in the case, and several events were planned for 2012 to help move the case forward.
"Law enforcement agencies are still hot on the case. Obviously because the investigation is still ongoing there are not a lot of specifics I will comment on other than they are still working hard, we are still in frequent communication," Kaine Horman wrote.
