FL - Tracy Ocasio, 27, Orlando/Ocoee, 27 May 2009 - #2

"At this point--it's like a full circle, everything that we get goes right back to him." -Joe Ocasio

Tracy's family speaks out. Full article, and heartbreaking video showing the eerie, short 150 yard span between where Tracy's car was found--and James Hataway's house. Her last cell ping put her phone practically in Hataway's back yard at 8:30 am on the am she disappeared, when her mom Liz called to see where she was. :(

I think it is going to take a miracle to pin this on JH.....and when it does happen he will be charged with George's disappearance as well.

Praying for Tracy everyday.....

This is all so exasperating and frustrating. My heart goes out to the Ocasio family knowing there will be a void in their lives during the holidays and forever.

This made me break down and sob.

Family Updates
12/10/2009

From: Joe Ocasio, Tracy’s father

197 days since Tracy was taken from us.

As of recent it seems everything has gone "cold". Some things have come up from time to time but nothing that has made a difference. It’s incredible and sureal that our precious daughter has been gone this long and with 12 days before Christmas we still do not know why this man called "James Hataway" took her from us. A coward that gets off hurting women and currently laughs at us.....I hope he gets a long sentence in Rachel Clarks case, the lucky one that got away from this madman.

Several months ago I had an open mind that maybe he might know something and maybe he was not directly involved. Today I feel totally different after we continue to deal with his "garbage" and "arrogance".....we know he’s guilty but unfortunally law enforcement has not gotten the break we need to charge him with her murder.....some day, some day.

I pray every night that God willing one day soon, we can bring her home and give her the proper burial she deserves.....a place we can go see her....talk to her....GOD WE MISS HER!

Last, I want to give thanks to everyone that continues to pray with us and helps us get strength to live through this ordeal.

God Bless you all!

After reading Joe Ocasio's message I wonder why people of Hataway's ilk should not be 'made' to talk. There are ways and means.
Yeah I know it's bad thinking on my part but it seems the family's of victims like Tracy Ocasio are given a life sentence of suffering while the suspect sits smugly in their prison cell.
Saying nothing.
That's justice on planet Earth.

And Joe Ocasio is right I certainly do continue to pray Tracy's family can be strengthened and comforted and their suffering eased thru these long months of waiting, especially knowing how hard these holidays must be w/out their beautiful Tracy. :prayer:

Ocasio's mother, Liz Ocasio, attended the court hearing this morning. Orange County Judge Steve Jewett set the trial for Jan. 12 – that is if officials transport Hataway from the Seminole County jail where he's being held on unrelated charges, the judge said.

The Orange County charge dates back to April when Hataway was accused of punching a van on A.D. Mims Road and causing more than $700 in damages.

Long as this monster never sees the light of day again.

It was August 2008 and Lowe lived in Seminole County. Newly-released police papers describe an incident in which a woman was attacked, allegedly at the hands of James Hataway.

“I just yelled out, ‘Are you okay?’ She just took that minute, ran to me screaming at me, ‘He's trying to kill me! He's trying to kill me!’” Lowe explained.

Lowe won't ever forget the condition the woman was in.

“Oh, she was just a bloody mess. Her face, her whole top of this area was red,” Lowe said.

According to eyewitness Karen Lowe, the victim dropped off James Hataway at his home on the corner, but when Lowe found the girl bloodied and beaten she was on another corner. She believes she was dragged over a block.

The report indicates Hataway even put the woman in a choke-hold and twisted her head in a manner consistent with trying to break someone's neck.

“She was spitting out gravel. Her tongue was bleeding,” Lowe said.

After receiving a new tip, crews headed out looking for Tracy Ocasio early Saturday. Her parents also joined in to hopefully find some new evidence.

Ocasio hasn't been seen since she left the Tap Room in Metrowest on May 26 last year with James Hataway. He's the only person of interest in the case.

Since that night, only a few clues have come in, but her parents said they won't give up until they can bring their daughter home.

"Can you imagine having your kid, your son daughter, laying out there, not knowing what happened to them?" Liz Ocasio said. "That's the hard part. You're not crying every day, but the hurt never goes away."

As the sun came up on Saturday, search teams prepared to head out. Tampa Bay Search and Rescue had their K-9s.

Florida Three Airboat Search and Rescue brought in 35 people to search between Kirkman and Edgewood Ranch roads, and between Winter Garden Road and Metrowest Boulevard.

Joe and Liz Ocasio said a tip came in that sparked the new search, but they can't say where it came from.

"(It was) someone familiar with the case and something similar where there was a car involved, keys involved," Joe Ocasio said.

Hataway is in jail facing attempted murder charges for allegedly strangling another woman who gave him a ride home and then slamming her head into the pavement.

"We feel strongly feel that's what happened to our daughter," Joe Ocasio said.

The Ocasios said the only thing left to do is prove it by finding their daughter, laying her to rest and using any evidence there is to lock Hataway away forever.

Late Saturday afternoon, four dogs zeroed in on an area near Lake Bennett, which is off West Colonial Drive, near Old Winter Garden Road.

The Ocasios said they will be meeting with the Ocoee Police Department on Monday (May 10th) to hopefully use their resources to search that area more closely.
