Kesse Family Makes Appeal On National TV
POSTED: Wednesday, February 8, 2006

On "The Early Show" Wednesday, Kesse's parents, Joyce and Drew, along with their son Logan talked with anchor Harry Smith about the case.

During the interview, Smith asked whether Kesse could have had any enemies?

"Honestly, no," Kesse's mother Joyce, said. "As a matter of fact, so many of us have been trying to find a picture of Jennifer not smiling to put on a poster because obviously she would not be smiling right now, and there are none. That kind of shows you what kind of person she is. You meet her and you want to be her friend."

Smith asked if Kesse's boyfriend had been cleared since the two traveled to the Caribbean before she vanished.

"To my knowledge, yes," father Drew Kesse said. "I don't think any of us are marked out but to my knowledge, I believe yes, he is out of the picture on that."

A polygraph is an instrument that simultaneously records changes in physiological processes such as heartbeat, blood pressure and respiration, often used as a lie detector.

Last weekend, nearly 1,100 people volunteered their time in the search. This weekend they are expecting even more volunteers, according to Local 6 News.

"We are not giving up," Kesse's uncle Bill Gilmur said. "We are not giving up until we get Jen. From the family's perspective and all of the friends, when we saw the outpouring of support in the rain with 1,100 people coming in, I think everyone can identify with how would they feel if this was one of their children."

'Credible' Tip Prompts Apartment Search In Kesse Case
POSTED: Monday, February 13, 2006
UPDATED: 11:50 am EST February 13, 2006
<snipped>
A tip investigators said was credible prompted a search of at least one apartment unit Sunday night in the case of a missing 24-year-old Orlando woman.

Sunday, investigators received a tip from a woman who said Kesse was being held in an apartment unit located at 1414 40th Street in Orange County.

"We had information that she was seen there and that she was alive and she was being held against her will," Orange police Sgt. Richard Ring said. "Detectives working the case interviewed that person and that person apparently gave them enough information to make them concerned."

SWAT team searched inside the structure but did not find the missing woman or any sign she had been there in past weeks.

"The results were negative," Ring said. "She was not in the residence. We are interviewing people there to see if there is a possibility that she might have been there."

Ring said authorities will continue to track leads in the case.

"Due to the fact that it was credible, because this is what we would expect if it was our family member, we acted appropriately I think," Ring said.

Psychics Used In Search For Missing Orlando Woman
POSTED: Tuesday, February 14, 2006
UPDATED: 9:57 am EST February 15, 2006
<snipped>
"The psychic calls we have been getting about the Kesse case, we are not discounting them," Orlando police Sgt. Richard Ring said. "There is the possibility that there is valid information that we can use."

Detectives have received more than 12 calls from people who have identified themselves as psychics, Local 6 News has learned.

Many psychics have said they have intuition about Kesse and what may have happened to her.

"There is also the possibility that a person who knows information about the case who is reluctant to use a regular channel to communicate with us might actually go to a psychic and give us tips to help us find Mrs. Kesse," Ring said.

Meanwhile, the popular national television show "America's Most Wanted" has become involved in the search for Kesse.

Tuesday, the "America's Most Wanted" Web site profiled Kesse's case. The national exposure could generate even more leads in the case.

Donor Pulling $100,000 Reward Money In Kesse Case
POSTED: Tuesday, March 7, 2006
UPDATED: 3:27 pm EST March 8, 2006
<snipped>
An anonymous resident who donated $100,000 of reward money in the Jennifer Kesse missing person case is pulling the cash after a "behind the scenes" conflict with Crimeline, according to a Local 6 News report.

Wednesday, the anonymous donor said the $100,000 will be pulled by March 15. The move is supposed to help the case and force someone to come forward this month.

However, there is a behind the scenes conflict between the anonymous donor and Crimeline, Local 6 reporter Louis Bolden said.

The controversy lies in the condition to collect the reward, according to the report.

The donor has reportedly said from the time the donation was made that the money was to only to be paid if Jennifer Kesse is returned home safely, the report said.

But the money was turned over to Crimeline and the organization offers rewards for information leading to arrests even if the person is not returned.

"The donor tells Local 6 that if Crimeline does not want to play by his rules, he is taking his money back," Local 6 reporter Louis Bolden said.

While the $100,000 donated money sits in Crimeline's account, the interest goes back to Crimeline, which the donor also disagrees with.

Crimeline Returns $100,000 Of Reward Money In Kesse Case
POSTED: Thursday, March 9, 2006
UPDATED: 12:37 am EST March 9, 2006
<snipped>
Officials with Crimeline returned $100,000 of reward money in the Jennifer Kesse missing person case Wednesday after a donor requested the cash back, according to Local 6 News.

The controversy was in the condition to collect the reward, Bolden said.

The donor has reportedly said from the time the donation was made that the money was to only to be paid if Kesse is returned home safely, the report said.

But the money was turned over to Crimeline and the organization offers rewards for information leading to arrests -- even if the person is not returned.

Wednesday, Crimeline returned the donor's money.

"Crimeline's business is to resolve cases," Crimeline spokeswoman Barbara Bergin said. "So, having that little conflict, we just determined it was best to give back the $100,000 and take the reward back down to $15,000."

Kesse's family said the focus should remain on a person of interest currently being sought in the case.

"It is not about the reward money," father Drew Kesse said. "It is not about Web sites. It is about finding our daughter."

Deadline for Kesse reward extended
posted by John A. Cutter on Mar 14, 2006 10:53:41 AM
<snipped>
I just heard from the office of the anonymous donor in the Jennifer Kesse missing person case. The deadline for the $100,000 was changed last week to tomorrow (March 15) but the donor has decided to extend that deadline until Sunday (March 19). We're not sure why, but have asked. It might be because Jennifer's photo will be on a car this Sunday in a NASCAR race, as we reported yesterday. The reward is still contingent on the safe return of Jennifer, who has been missing since Jan. 24. Also, a reminder, her parents are scheduled to be on Maury today at 4 p.m. (Remember, anyone with details can call Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477.)

Employer Offers $250,000 For Missing Orlando Woman
POSTED: Monday, April 24, 2006
UPDATED: 3:51 pm EDT April 24, 2006
<snipped>
An employer of a missing woman offered a $250,000 reward for the safe return of the woman three months after she mysteriously disappeared in Orlando.

Timeshare and real estate mogul David Siegel made the offer with the Kesse family outside his company Monday.

Siegel said the reward money is on behalf of Westgate Resorts Co., which is the company that employed Kesse.

"He said you can call it a reward or you could call it a ransom but the money is only for Jennifer's safe return," Local 6 reporter Louis Bolden said.

"I've been watching this family for three months standing on street corners and beating the bushes and doing everything they can to get her back and I feel terrible what they are going through and I wanted to put up this reward," Siegel said.

Huge Reward Announced In Search For Jennifer Kesse
Posted: 7:08 am EDT April 24, 2006
Updated: 12:42 pm EDT April 24, 2006
<snipped>
Late Monday morning, Kesse's parents announced the reward, a quarter of a million dollars.

Jennifer's boss at Westgate Resorts said it's a small price to pay for her safe return. Orlando time share mogul David Siegel joined the Kesse family for Monday morning's announcement after putting up the money on behalf of the Westgate Resorts.

The family said they believe Jennifer is still alive. She was reported missing three months ago when she didn't show up for work. Her car was found abandoned in an apartment complex just a mile from her condo.

Massive searches of the area turned up nothing, and that's why Jennifer's family says there's no evidence to show she isn't alive. And, of course, they want to believe that she will come home.

David Siegel said you can call the quarter of a million dollars a reward, or a ransom. It will only be available for one month and it is only for Jennifer's safe return.

Jennifer’s parents said they don't care about a prosecution or conviction, they just want Jennifer back. There is also still a $15,000 Crimeline reward for information leading to an arrest.

Meeting Joyce and Drew Kesse is yet another reminder for all of us about how hard— if necessary— it is to experience other people’s pain up close and personal. Their daughter Jennifer has vanished—yet somehow in the midst of their grief and pain, they have enough energy to go out every single day and ask the world for help. To say that I admire them is the understatement of the year. I literally cannot imagine the path they have to walk.

The search for Jennifer Kesse: Six months later
3 years ago
<snipped>
Orlando, Florida— January 24th is the Monday morning when investigators believe 24-year-old Jennifer Kesse was leaving for work. She locked the door to her Orlando condominium, and that's where the mystery begins. Her car was dropped off three to four hours later down the street from her home near the Mall of Millennia, and Jennifer Kesse hasn't been seen or heard from since.

Drew Kesse, Missing Woman's Father:
“Honestly she's vanished, and police have used that word. It's a very hard thing to swallow. We know someone knows something.”
Joyce Kesse, Missing Woman's Mother:
“I feel as her mother, she was the prize that someone wanted, and in my gut, it wasn't anything other than someone wanted Jennifer for themselves.”
It's now been six months since Jennifer first disappeared. Her mother remembers the last conversation she had with her daughter the day before she disappeared.

Joyce Kesse, Missing Woman's Mother
“I feel blessed that we talked for a half an hour on the phone, and I got to hear all the fun things about her vacation, and then the sadness is that we haven't talked to her since. I talk to her every day, she just doesn't talk back. And I hug her, but I don't get a hug back.”
Four months ago, Orlando Police released this image of a person of interest they believe was in the area around the time when Jennifer's car was abandoned.

Since then, investigators have come up with few new leads…

Joyce Kesse, Missing Woman's Mother :
“All of the recourses for six months, all of the volunteers, all of the searches, and nothing of Jennifer's has turned up, so we hold onto that hope.”

Car Found of Missing 24-Year-Old Orlando Woman

The last she was heard from was Monday night. She called her father after getting home from work.

"That was it, just catching up, how ya doin'. We talk quite regularly. That was the last I spoke to her," he said.

She had just come back from a trip to the Virgin Islands this past weekend with her boyfriend who lives in South Florida. She drove up Monday morning from Fort Lauderdale and went straight to work at the Central Florida Investments Timeshare Company in Ocoee.

But, after speaking to her dad Monday night at her condo, she never showed up at work Tuesday morning and no one can get her on her cell phone.

Her boyfriend, Robert Allen, agreed saying she was uncomfortable with the workers around. The buildings had just recently been converted to condos and only a handful of residents live in her unit.

"Obviously, for me living three hours away, difficult hearing that with her saying I’m a little nervous here and there," Allen said.

Detectives: Someone Other Than Jennifer Drove Her Car
Posted: 12:07 pm EST February 21, 2006
Updated: 4:01 pm EST February 21, 2006
<snipped>
Channel 9 has new information about the person of interest wanted for questioning in the case of a missing woman. Jennifer Kesse was reported missing four weeks ago. Also, a major clue in the case, Jennifer’s car, may now be a crime scene.

Detectives wrapped up a news conference at Orlando police headquarters late Tuesday morning. Two big pieces of information came out of the press conference. First, detectives now confirm someone other than Jennifer drove her car the night or morning she disappeared.

Detectives also released the approximate height of the person of interest in the case.

Investigators are calling on the public to think back whether they saw someone other than Jennifer driving the car during that time frame. The car is being called a crime scene.

"It is the one link we have, or the last link we have, between Ms. Kesse and we believe she was in or near that vehicle during the time of her abduction," said Sgt. Rich Ring, Orlando Police Department.

Police also want to talk with the person in surveillance photos, now saying the man or woman is between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-5. But the surveillance pictures were too fuzzy for the FBI to determine an approximate weight or shoe size. Detectives said the person of interest may have seen someone ditch Jennifer's car at the Huntington on the Green condos.

"For the person who's responsible for this out there, it will only take a very small piece of evidence in today's world of forensic science for you to get caught," Sgt. Ring said.

Orlando detectives are investigating a possible link between the disappearance of Jennifer Kesse and a carjacking in Rosemont last week.

The victim was attacked in her driveway and pushed into her car. The single mother jumped out of the moving car after she heard one of the gunmen say he was going to kill her.

Kesse has been missing for 55 days and might have disappeared from the parking lot of her Orlando apartment complex.

24-year-old vanishes, leaving little clues
Will a piece of surveillance video hold the key to what happened to Jennifer?
updated 2:40 p.m. ET, Mon., May 15, 2006
<snipped>
On Tuesday morning, January 24th, when the Kesses’ got a call that their daughter did not show up for work they tried to call her cell, but it immediately went to voice mail.

Joyce Kesse: That’s not Jennifer. Jennifer has always been reachable. When I got that phone call I knew intuitively something happened to her.

The Kesses raced from their home 3 hours away to Jennifer’s condo.

They showed us the scene they found. They arranged her things to show us the way, they said they found them that day.

There was a wet shower, damp towel, underwear on the floor, hair and makeup items on the bathroom sink. On her unmade bed, a selection of work clothes were laid.

Joyce Kesse: We feel that she got ready to go to work. She left. She locked her door and at that point is where the mystery starts.

But police say the mystery may have started even earlier.

Sgt. Rich Ring: It is as close to a vanishing as as I’ve ever seen.

Orlando Police Sgt. Rich Ring says Jennifer called her boyfriend in Fort Lauderdale at 10 p.m. January 23rd, the night before she was reported missing.

New Clue In Search For Missing Woman
Surveillance Photos Capture 'Person Of Interest'
ORLANDO, Fla. Feb. 8, 2006
<snipped>
Speaking to The Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith Wednesday, Jennifer's father, Drew Kesse, described his daughter as a young, "bright, beautiful, intelligent, really driven, focused young lady that we love."

Jennifer had recently moved into a new apartment and had gotten a promotion at her job.

Asked if Jennifer could have had an enemy, her mother Joyce said: "You know, honestly, no. As a matter of fact, so many of us have been trying to find a picture of Jennifer not smiling to put on a poster because, obviously, she would not be smiling right now, and no one — family, friends, her sorority sisters — there are none. That shows you what kind of person she is. You meet her and, really, you want to be her friend."

Jennifer's boyfriend, who had just returned with her from vacation, is not considered a person of interest in the investigation.

"To my knowledge, yes," says Drew Kesse. "I don't think any of us are marked out. But to my knowledge, I believe, yes, he's out of the picture on that."

The Search For Jennifer
Saturday, January 20, 2007 6:31:48 PM
<snipped>
Wednesday will mark one year since the disappearance of Jennifer Kesse, and her family says they are keeping up the search despite having few clues left.

The 24-year-old was reported missing on January 24th, 2006, after she failed to show up for work. Numerous searches were conducted near her condo near the Mall at Millenia. Her car was found two days later less than a mile away. But very few clues were ever found to explain her disappearance.

Her parents live in Bradenton but say they still return to Orlando most weeks to put up more fliers of their missing daughter, meet with detectives, and drive the streets in their poster-covered SUV.

They also man a tip line and Web site: findjenniferkesse.com.

Families Still Hope To Find Missing Children
POSTED: 3:36 pm EST January 18, 2007
UPDATED: 6:03 pm EST January 18, 2007
<snipped>
In Florida, officials think at least 18 missing children were taken by non-family members, WESH 2 News reported.

Many have been missing for years, such as Falon Albury from Ocala, who disappeared in 1995 when she was 4 years old.

Ashani Creighton from Orlando was last seen March 21, 1997. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's Web site features an age-enhanced photo of what the 14-year-old might look like today.

Whether gone for five days or five years, the children's loved ones continue to keep hope that their missing child would return.

Stories like that of Shawn Hornbeck, the 11-year-old Missouri boy who was abducted four years ago but found this past week, give families of missing children renewed hope of one day being reunited with their son or daughter.

The Kesse family of Orlando has said several times that they will never stop looking for their daughter, Jennifer, who's been missing for nearly a year. The Kesses often referred to Elizabeth Smart, who was reunited with her family nine months after being abducted from her bedroom.

While most missing children have not received national exposure, like Trenton Duckett of Leesburg did, the families never give up hope.
